Qi Ming Wei entered the private ward and frowned when he saw that the woman was still asleep. He stood still a few seconds before deciding to come back later.
However, a faint voice stopped him on his track.
He turned around and walked over to the bed. Seeing that the woman's voice seemed to be muttering something, Qi Ming Wei walked over closely to listen.
But the words she said were a bunch of incoherent things.
A deep frown appeared on his face when he saw that there was something wrong with that woman.
Her face was red and sweaty. Her lips were white and chapped.
Stretching his hand, Qi Ming Wei put his palm on her forehead to feel her temperature. His expression turned uglier upon finding that it was too high.
The woman was having a fever!
Her temperature was too hot that Qi Ming Wei was worried that she might burn her brain and turn silly.
There were a lot of questions he needed to ask and answers he needed to find. How was he supposed to find out anything if this woman burned her brain?
He pressed the button at the side of the bed and looked at the woman anxiously. Seeing that the doctor took their time to arrive, Qi Ming Wei took out his kerchief. He wet the cloth slightly and placed it on the woman's forehead.
The wet and cold cloth on her face woke her up from her sleep.
Yang Ran opened her eyes to a slit, wanting to look at her surroundings. However, she was still too weak. The only thing she saw was a blurry face of a man.
"Dad?" Her lips moved.
No. That was not her dad. Her dad had passed away a few years ago.
Her brow furrowed. Yang Ran found that her eyes were too heavy to open. In the end, she drifted back to sleep.

When Yang Ran woke up again, the first thing she noticed was the white surroundings all around her. The light was blinding. She had to squint to look at her surroundings.
Seeing that everything was too white and too bright made her wonder if she was dead and was now in heaven.
However, the sight of the drip bag hung next to her bed told her otherwise. It did not take her too long to figure out that she was now in the hospital.
Yang Ran could not help but felt a little disappointed.
If she was dead, perhaps she would be reunited with everyone else. But now, she was all alone in this world.
She could still remember the scene she watched in her dream vividly. It was the time when everything was peaceful and everyone was around.
But now... everything is gone.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath to adjust her emotion. No matter what, this was not an appropriate time to cry. Since she was alive, then, there was something she had to do. She will find out who was that person who had destroyed everything she had. Then, she has to get revenge for everyone. Only then would she be able to cry and mourn their death.
When she opened her eyes again, Yang Ran tried to move her body. However, everything was too painful. A slight movement would make her feel as if she was hit by a truck.
But that was not the worst part.
Yang Ran tried to move her hand and found that her hand was handcuffed to the bed.
She stared at the silver bracelet around her wrist for a long time, wondering what was going on. Her movement made a rattling sound and soon, the sound of footsteps came closer.
"You're awake."
The man's deep voice snapped her out of her trance.
Yang Ran looked up with a surprised look on her face. This man... She had seen him before. The first time she saw him was at the airport. He was good-looking and seemed to be the type she liked. Therefore, she remembered him.
"It's you." Her lips whispered.
Qi Ming Wei frowned when she heard her words. "Do we know each other?" He stared at the woman's face for a while, but could not remember anything.
Yang Ran quickly composed herself. "Probably not. But, I saw you once at the airport."
"Hmm..." Qi Ming Wei turned to press the button at the side of the bed. Then, he poured some water into a paper cup and passed it over to the woman. "Have some drink." He heard her sore voice and thought that she needed some drinks to soothe her throat.
"Thank you." With one free hand, Yang Ran took the paper cup and drank the water slowly as she tried to figure out what happened to her.
Aiden had appeared and killed Alice. Then, while she was escaping, there were a bunch of guys going after her. They did not seem as if they wanted to kill her. Those bunch of guys was after her, with another motive.
Then, she was caught and passed out. The last thing she knew was that someone had saved her from those people.
But... how did she get here in the hospital with a handcuff around her wrist?
The doctor walked in and did some check-ups on her without uttering too many words. Once he was sure that she would live, the doctor left again.
Yang Ran could see that the doctor was wary of this man beside her bed.
She finished her drink and held the paper cup in her hand.
Yang Ran raised her head and looked at the man again. "Who are you? And why am I handcuffed to the bed?"
Qi Ming Wei was surprised at her calmness. But then again, he had witnessed how the woman had run and fought those people on the street.
He already knew that the woman in front of him was not a simple woman.
"You can call me Commander Qi," Qi Ming Wei said. "As for the reason you were handcuffed to bed... it's because you are a murder suspect. We are afraid that you might escape once you wake up. We had no other choice but to handcuff you here."
Yang Ran watched the man in surprise.
