The handsome commander did not show up at the hospital again after his first and last visit.
In these past few days, her hand was still chained to the hospital bed, but at least, the people had treated her well and given her good food.
Yang Ran has been staying at the hospital, trying to recuperate well to get her strength back. After a few days, her body was starting to get better and her face was no longer as pale.
As she stayed in her room, Yang Ran would observe everything around her carefully.
There were always at least, two soldiers, guarding outside her door.
The nurse would come into her room once every few hours to check on her condition.
Each time that a meal was delivered, the soldier outside would check on her food. Once it had passed their inspection, only then she was allowed to eat.
The chain around her hand would remain there even though she was eating her meal. The only time they would remove the chain was when she had to visit the restroom to relieve herself.
After a few days of staying at the hospital, Yang Ran realized that people around her began to lower their guards.
Perhaps, they had seen how she would stay in the room obediently without making a fuss and thought that there was no way that she would run away?
The corner of her lips tilted up.
These days, other than planning her escape, there was nothing else in her mind.
After assessing everything around her, Yang Ran had determined a few chances she could use to escape. She had made all the preparation and now, all she needed was the perfect opportunity.
It was raining heavily outside and the temperature in the room dropped down a little bit.
The door was pushed open and soon, the nurse walked into the room to check on Yang Ran. She grabbed the clip file at the end of the bed and jotted down some details.
These days, the patient's condition had turned better. Supposedly, she did not have to come in every few hours to check on the patient's condition. However, she was given an order from the higher-ups and there was nothing she could do about it.
The young nurse heaved a sigh and was about to turn around and leave when she heard the patient call her.
"Nurse, please," Yang Ran put on a pitiful look in her eyes. "When can I leave the hospital? I have been staying here for a few days and I think I'm well enough to be discharged."
The nurse hesitated before walking over to Yang Ran's side. "I'm sorry. But this is something that I cannot help you with. The higher-ups think you should stay here for a few more days to recuperate. Miss Yang, just stay here until you are well enough." Her gaze shifted to the chain around Yang Ran's hand.
Although they said that this patient had to stay handcuffed to bed because Yang Ran might be a criminal. However, after observing the patient for a few days, the nurse thought that the patient did not seem like a bad person.
Later, she heard that the higher-ups did not have evidence to apprehend Yang Ran, but they still kept her here anyway because they were not sure of her involvement with some murder cases.
The nurse thought that the authority was misusing their power. Yang Ran was not even allowed to exercise her right and meet anyone. The nurse did not agree to let them keep Yang Ran handcuffed.
She pitied Yang Ran, but there was nothing she could do about it. She could only listen to the higher-ups if she wanted to keep her job and get her payment to feed her family.
Yang Ran lowered her head, pretending to be disappointed. She tried to move her hand and the rattling sound of the metal resounded in the room.
"Then, can you help me to the restroom, I need to relieve myself."
The nurse hesitated. She looked at the rainy weather outside and thought that Yang Ran should feel cold. Then, she finally nodded. "I'll call someone to help you."
"Thank you." Yang Ran flashed a smile at the nurse.
The nurse left the room before returning to the room with the soldier behind her. The soldier helped to unlock the cuff around her hand before watching Yang Ran enter the bathroom. His brow furrowed when he saw the way Yang Ran held her stomach with a painful look on her face.
The soldier quickly assumed that the woman would spend a long time in the bathroom.
Thinking of what will happen inside the room, the soldier could not help but pull a face. He walked slightly farther away from the room and leaned on the wall behind him.
Outside, the rain continued to pour down heavily.
Yang Ran climbed up from the toilet seat and looked at the grill that was covering the small window.
Her lips turned into a smile.
For the past few days, each time that she walked into the bathroom, Yang Ran would loosen the screw around the grill to prepare for her escape.
Now that her moments had come, she could no longer delay her escape. She stretched her hand and pulled out the grill.
A small creak resounded, causing her to halt.
Seeing that the soldier did not come over and barge into the bathroom, Yang Ran finally put down the grill on the floor. She was very careful not to make a sound.
Then, she climbed up again and pushed herself up the window.
She looked out the window and whistled upon looking at the ground. She was on the third floor. It would be a little tricky to escape, especially with the weather and the lack of place that she could use to hold on to.
However, she did not have much choice, didn't she?
Fortunately, her strength had returned after staying in the hospital for a while. With her small frame, Yang Ran managed to slip through the small window.
The rain fell on her body. She held the window tightly and stepped into the small gap between the floor. Then, she tugged at the pipe, testing its durability before she slid down from the third floor.
A breath of relief escaped her once her feet landed on the ground.
She was now free.
Because of the heavy rain, there was no one else around the area. Even if someone saw her, they would not pay much attention to her. After scanning her surroundings for a while, Yang Ran finally ran from the hospital area.
