The boat swayed gently as it approached the land.
From where she stood, Yang Ran began to examine the surrounding. It was not easy for her to escape from Capital City, avoiding those who wanted her alive and dead. She could not afford to get caught again.
The boatman docked his boat on the small jetty.
Yang Ran watched as those men quickly work to pull the fish they caught to the land. No one seemed to be paying any attention to her as she leave.
Just like they had agreed, once they get to the land, they will pretend as if they did not know each other.
Yang Ran around the area cautiously. Although she could not see anyone around, she knew that she needed to be cautious.
Now, she just needed to get to the airport and find the person that Eric had sent to pick her up. Then, she will take the flight to F Country.
This was the safest way she knew to escape. Especially since Commander Qi had sent his people to the airport to keep an eye on her.
The man was too persistent. He had used every way he knew to block her exit.
Just as she get to the main road, a black car stopped in front of her with a screech.
Her eyes narrowed and her hand subconsciously touched the small knife in her pocket. The moment this person come out to attack her, she would fight back.
The door opened and a pair of long legs stepped out.
A tall man with short, black hair and handsome feature flashed a smile at her. His skin was pale as he rarely stepped out into the sun. His bangs covered half of his eyes, but he did not seem as if he was bothered.
Beside him, a man dressed in all black was helping him to hold a large umbrella.
"Hello, Rachel." The man touched the rim of his glasses as he pushed them on his nose. "I'm glad you made it here alive."
Once she saw that familiar face, Yang Ran began to lower her guard and her body relaxed. "Eric. What are you doing here?"
"I was worried." Eric Tan gave her a look over. He finally retracted his gaze upon seeing that she was without injury. "Rachel, there are too many people who were looking for you. I was worried that you might encounter some trouble. Since I have agreed to help you, of course, I will have to make sure that you will return safely."
"Then, I will have to thank you." Her gaze softened a little bit.
Eric Tan was a leader of an organization. His group mainly dealt with arms trading. The two of them had a few business transactions in the past. To Yang Ran, Eric Tan can be considered an old friend of her in F Country.
Eric Tan snapped his fingers and waited for his man to approach. He pointed at Yang Ran and spoke, "Prepare a change of clothes for Miss Yang. We cannot let her board the flight looking like this."
Yang Ran glanced at her clothes. Although it was not something that she usually wear, the t-shirt and jeans were quite comfortable.
"I'm sorry. Eric Tan crinkled his nose. "But Rachel, you smell like fish."
Yang Ran sniffed her shirt and agreed that she smelled terrible.
She had spent a few hours with the fishermen on the boat that her nose was beginning to get used to the smell.
Eric's man walked over to his boss again, carrying a paper bag. Then, he handed it over to Yang Ran politely.
"I'm sure that these clothes would suit you, but you still have to check," Eric said to Yang Ran. He turned to his man again and spoke, "That's right. Go and let the others leave. Miss Yang would need to change her clothes."
The man spoke to his team and everyone gets off the car simultaneously.
Eric waved his hand and Yang Ran slid into the car. After checking that everything was safe, Yang Ran changed her clothes and put on the dress and wig that Eric had prepared for her.
Ten minutes later, she stepped out again. "I'm done."
Eric gave her a look and nodded. He tossed a small bag to her and watched as she unzipped the bag. "Put on some make-up. You look too pale." He raised both shoulders into a shrug. "You can put them on our way to the airport. I'm sure that you have gotten used to it. Come on. Let's go. We don't want to be late."
Yang Ran followed the man into the car. He gave Eric a look over and spoke, "Eric, thank you for your help."
The man waved her his hand. "Don't mention it. This is all I can do for an old friend." The corner of his lips turned up. "Of course, you will need to tell me what happened. How did you get into this mess?"
The driver started to drive away from the place.
Yang Ran opened the makeup bag and started to work on her face. She glanced at the man beside her and spoke, "This is what I wanted to know as well." Her expression turned serious as she spoke. "Eric. They killed everyone. I don't know who or why they are doing this."
She began to tell him what had happened to her after she stepped her foot in Capital City to look for Bryan. However, Yang Ran did not mention to Eric that those people were looking for a map.
Until this time, she did not know what kind of map those people were looking for.
It was best to keep it a secret until she knew what it was.
After she finished her story, Yang Ran glanced at the pale man and spoke, "Eric, can you help me to investigate what happened?"
The man pursed his lips. He looked out the window and spoke in a languid manner, "I already asked my men to investigate."
Yang Ran was not surprised to hear his words. Eric was probably curious to know what was going on and had investigated everything on his own.
He turned to Yang Ran and spoke, "I can tell you that Morelli played a part in what happened to your men. But..." His expression turned serious. "I can also tell you that he did not act on his own. Someone hired him to harm your men. As for who that person is..." He raised his shoulder into a shrug. "We don't have any information."
Her eyes narrowed.
Morelli...
It seemed that she will have to investigate further, find Morelli, and have a heart-to-heart talk with him.
