There were a lot of people gathered around the fountain.
Clad in a black dress, Yang Ran walked among the crowd and finally blended in with the tourist. With a flick of her hand, Yang Ran pulled a young boy's cap before approaching the mother and pretending that she had helped to pick it up.
While engaging in a few small talks, Yang Ran began to scan her surrounding. Noticing that the man had stopped following her, Yang Ran finally heaved a breath of relief.
She took out her phone and sent out a text.
The reply came back in a few seconds.
After exchanging a few more words with the woman, Yang Ran turned around and headed to the exit of the park.
Just in time, a black car stopped in front of her. The window rolled down. Seeing the familiar face, Yang Ran pulled the door and slid into the car. She turned around and noticed that Eric Tan was staring at her.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
Eric retracted his gaze. "Nothing. It's just that, you look different with that makeup."
Yang Ran touched her face and smiled. "Recently, news that I have returned to F Country had spread. They have been looking for me for a while. If I didn't dress up and put on some makeup, I might get myself killed."
His brow furrowed. Eric pushed his glasses and asked, "Someone is trailing you?"
"Mmm... I guess they got suspicious." Yang Ran said casually. "I need to work fast before they catch me." She raised a brow at Eric and spoke, "Do you have something for me?"
Eric waved his hand and his subordinate turned around to hand him a brown envelope. "This is for you." He watched as Yang Ran peeked into the envelope and continued, "I heard that Morelli will be having a meeting at his club tonight."
Her movement halted. Slowly, the corner of her lips turned up. "He's finally coming out?" Yang Ran shoved the documents back into the envelope. "Eric, help me."
The man leaned over. "How are you going to pay for it?"
"How much do you want?"
There was a mischievous look in his eyes. "How about staying as my girlfriend?"
Yang Ran quickly veered her eyes away. "It's fine. I'll find a way to sneak into that club." She moved to leave the vehicle, but Eric stopped her before she reached the handle.
"Alright. I was only joking."
Yang Ran turned to look at Eric. Seeing the playful smile on his lips made her feel more at ease.
"I'll help you." He let out a helpless sigh before turning to his subordinates again. "I'll let someone mail you the bill."
"Thank you."
Eric waved his hand. "I'll pick you up this evening. Later, I will text you the location. And oh..." He pushed his glasses up and smiled. "Don't forget to wear something good."
Yang Ran rolled her eyes before she stepped out of the vehicle.
...
In the evening, Yang Ran showed up at the location that Eric had sent to her. Seeing his vehicle approaching, Yang Ran slid into the car and the two of them were giving each other a look over.
Noticing that Eric was dressed in a black tuxedo, Yang Ran cocked her head to one side and raised a brow. "Going somewhere?"
"I'm going to bring you in." Eric took out a membership card from his breast pocket. "Coincidentally, I am a member of this club."
"You're going to a club in a tuxedo?"
Eric let out a low chuckle. "You haven't been to Morelli's club before, do you? Once you arrive, you will understand."
Yang Ran shrugged.
"So, what is your plan?" Eric asked as the vehicle started to move. "Do you need my help?"
"It's fine. Eric, you have helped me enough." Yang Ran lowered her gaze as she recalled the documents that Eric had given her early that morning.
After she had returned to F Country, Yang Ran has been investigating what happened at the residence.
Just as she had thought, there were a few traitors in the organization.
Those traitors had tempered with the security, allowing Morelli to send his men into the organization and killed everyone there. Her men were unprepared for the attack. Then, Morelli burned down the building, leaving no way for anyone to escape.
Morelli had always wanted to bring her down. In the past, his group was considered the top in F Country. However, everything began to change a few years ago.
Yang Ran showed her leadership and somehow, the clients liked dealing with her more.
Morelli was unhappy after losing a few clients and always held a grudge against her.
Yang Ran did not expect that Morelli would be so inhuman to kill everyone in her organization just because he had lost a few business opportunities.
He bribed those traitors and let them find some weakness in her defense.
However, those traitors had disappeared the moment the organization had fallen.
Fortunately, Eric had his information web. With his help, Yang Ran was able to find out where those traitors had disappeared to.
Yang Ran was planning to look for those traitors after she was done talking to Morelli.
Since they dared to betray her and their brothers and sisters, those traitors will have to deal with the consequences.
"It's good enough that you are willing to help me sneak into the place," Yang Ran said to Eric. "When I get there, I will find a way to get close to Morelli. I don't want to get you into trouble."
"You think I'm afraid of trouble?"
"You said it yourself, Morelli was working for someone. I don't know who that person is. But I don't want you to get entangled with my situation," Yang Ran said. Her expression turned serious.
The two of them stared at each other stubbornly.
In the end, it was Eric who had looked away first. "Fine. Just remember... You can always find me if you run into any trouble."
Her expression softened. Yang Ran was grateful that she had an ally such as Eric.
After a while, the vehicle finally stopped in front of the club. Yang Ran raised her head to look at the building before her. Seeing that Eric was standing by her side, Yang Ran linked her arms with his, and the two of them walked into the club together.
