Chereads / King Kai / Chapter 57 - Missing

Chapter 57 - Missing

Doris walked through the wilderness. The strong wind was pushing her backwards but she kept forcing herself, walking into the desert. Her lips turned white and her skin was pale.

"Mom!" Kai hastily descended downstairs. Melissa, who was speaking to her guards and warriors halted in her conversation.

"What is it?" Melissa raised a brow. Kai had sweats all over him as his breath wasn't stable. He panted.

"I can't find my wife anywhere!! She's missing!" Kai yelled out in fear.

"Soo? and what do I have to do with that? Perhaps, she went somewhere or she decided to leave" Melissa said scornfully. Her interest in Doris had reduced since she found out that her hypothesis were true. Melissa's mindset has gradually changed to someone that is conscienceless and heartless.

"What?" Kai had to confirm that he heard right. How could his mom be like this? Melissa grinned as she patted her son's back.

"Kai, I'm not the type of woman you once knew. I can't play nice and kind to anyone when my greatest enemy is back from her long journey. Go and search for your lost wife for all I care" Melissa smirked. She attempted to leave but Kai's strong hand encircled her wrist and pulled her back.

"You didn't hurt her right?" Kai cold voice vibrated in Melissa's ear. Melissa didn't know what to do, either to laugh or cry.

"Get your hands of me. I can hurt you!" Melissa frowned as she grinted her teeth. Kai remained unfazed.

"My wife must be found before dawn, unless, I will kill every living soul in this kingdom..... including you, Mom!!" Kai meant every damn word he said. Melissa looked stunned and angry at the same time. Her son would kill her? Melissa head sprang in anger as she zeroed her eyes against Kai.

"You won't dare try something foolish!!!" Melissa hollered and Kai let go of her wrist.

"Try me and see!!! I need my wife now!!!!!!" Kai spatted out in anger.

Everybody in the scenario shivered in fear, they knew that Kai would exactly do as he said if his wife isn't found. All the soldiers moved in different directions to find his wife. Melissa looked shocked.

"How could her soldiers leave without her order? Who is their ruler? Who do they fear more? She or him?" Melissa's anger boil as she stared at Kai. Kai didn't give her a glance as he clenched his fist. He leapt away from her presence.

*******

Doris kept moving into the desert. A deep blue ocean was before her as soon she passed the desert. Doris walked into the water, she went deeper and deeper into the ocean. They was non-stop. The soul in her kept her going deeper and deeper into the ocean.

"You are finally here! I've been waiting to see you and touch you" Queen Jessica felt ecstatic when she saw her daughter. She quickly swam and hugged her. Doris could only stare at her. She didn't utter a word.

"You leave her now, Emily. I want to touch and hold my child" Jessica tearily said. Emily left Doris body and the girl coughed loudly. Jessica smiled sadly.

Doris regained her senses. She stare at the two figures in front of her.

"My child?" Jessica said slowly as she was now scared of touching the girl looking at them sternly.

"Mermaids?" Doris was shocked herself. Jessica nodded her head.

Doris didn't know what to do, she turned herself around .

"I can talk under water? I'm breathing" Doris placed her hand on her mouth. She didn't understand what was going on, perhaps, a spell was casted on her.

"Doris? My baby?" Jessica ignored her reactions, she just wanted to feel and hold her daughter. Doris head snapped towards her. Doris gave her a hard glare.

"Really now!!! You kept on disturbing my nights and now I'm finally here and all you have for me is tears?" Doris raised a brow and her lips were curved. Jessica cried.

"You are being to rude, Young Princess!!" Emily butted in. Emily looked angry and furious towards Doris. Doris smirked.

"Hey you! Just return me back to my husband right now!!" Doris yelled at her. Emily hissed. All her thoughts were on her husband and not the reason why she was brought here!.

"Doris? I'm sorry for all I've caused but you can't blame me. I've been nothing but a useless mother to you.....pls just create a space for me" Jessica swam to Doris and held her arms.

"Mother?" Doris repeated lowly as her eyes widened. This woman looks exactly like her but she isn't her mother. Her only mother is "Leticia"!

"I'm Sorry, dear" Jessica cried. Doris pulled away from her hold.

"My husband is waiting for me. I want to go" Doris turned around to leave but Emily held her back. Doris tilted her head as she intensely stared at Emily. Her patience was already getting out of hand. Anger began to boil inside her.

"Let go or I'll hurt you" Doris hoarse voice made the water bubble. Emily gulped her spit hard because she couldn't help but feel uneasy with the way Doris was glaring at her.

"Leave her" Jessica said and she swarm towards Doris.

"I'm not letting you go even if it means my death. I only have one wish, just let me be with you even if it's just today. Please." Jessica pleaded and Doris eyes became watery. What does this mean? The woman she believes to be her mother since childbirth isn't her mother? This woman in front of her is her real mom? Tears rolled down from Doris' eyes.

"I have a Mom.... Don't tell me that I've been living with a woman who isn't my mom for good 20 years now" Doris lips trembled as her tears kept rolling down. Jessica wiped her tears off.

"It's true, dear. The woman you believe that is your mom also don't know about this." Jessica said.

"I only have one Mom and that's Leticia. I don't want to have another mother apart from her. Why is all this happening to me anyway? Why can't I just have peace? Let me go, Please" Frustration and thinking had already choked Doris' neck. Jessica hugged her tight.

"You can go.... but, I promise, when I'm finally free to meet you on land, I will definitely come for you. I will always protect from here." Jessica assured.

"You are always welcome here. This is your kingdom after all" Jessica smiled and Doris eyes reduced it's size as she stare at her with confusion.
