Anna woke up to a bright morning. She stretched her body before getting off the bed and looked around the room to see if Alpha Fredrick was back.
She couldn't sense his scent so she got up to prepare to go and see the gynecologist. She had already called the doctor last night when she woke up feeling the pains. It was becoming unbearable.
Anna prayed silently for the safety of her baby. It will be due in two weeks. She doesn't want anything bad happening to her child.
A servant knocked on her door to tell her the car was ready. She got up carefully and followed the servant downstairs. She just prays her child is doing well.
As Anna came out of the castle, she briefly walked to her garden of lilies and sniffed at them. She always finds strength in those little darlings of hers.
Anna was feeling extremely nervous and…scared this morning. She couldn't point out the reason though. There was a foreboding feeling since last night and an urge to protect her child.
"Luna, the car is ready. But we can't take yours today. I think Alpha Frederick drove it away last night" her driver said.
"He came last night?" She asked in surprise.
"Yes, Luna. That was what I was told by the guard. But he hurriedly left without entering the main building"
"Oh…I see. Give me five minutes" Anna replied in a disappointed tone.
She slowly walked towards a garden filled with lilies. How could he go back without even seeing her? Is she worth more than her? She was carrying his child! His heir!
Why does he always leave her alone when she needs him the most? Slowly her tears dropped on her beautiful face. She quickly wiped it off when she heard footsteps behind her.
"Luna…it's almost time for your appointment. You might be late"
Anna turned to see Greta, her maidservant. She forced out a smile touching her protruding stomach.
"Rowland, I can't wait to see you. I know you would grow up to be a strong Alpha. I don't know how long I can be with you. I don't care how long as long as I can bring you to the world. Promise momma, you are going to come to the world, okay?" Anna spoke softly to her baby.
"Luna, the moon goddess would always be with you and you will live long to take care of the young Prince"
"Greta, if anything happens to me, promise that you will take care of my boy"
"Luna, nothing would happen to you. Have faith in the moon goddess. She will surely protect you and your child"
Anna only smiled and closed her eyes in silent prayer, mumbling to herself." For a life to be given, a life s to be forfeited. If it comes to worse, take mine and spare my child"
Then she stood up and got ready to go to the hospital.
The driver drove Anna along the way while she closed her eyes. But something in her didn't feel right. She felt restless just like last night and the nightmare kept flashing through her mind.
She felt her heart throbbing as they passed through the forest leading to the Pack's specialist hospital. Holding her stomach tightly, she continued mumbling something to herself.
Anna felt uncomfortable as time passed. She had the urge to go back home but she held onto her heart and continued with her prayers silently to the Moon goddess.
Just about five minutes away from the hospital, the driver discovered something was wrong with the car. He was sweating profusely and finding it difficult to control the car.
"Luna, there is something wrong with the car. I can't access anything ", the driver said in a panic. a
"What do you mean?", Anna asked as her worst fear began to materialize.
"I tried taking a slow pace but the gears and everything in the car stopped working ", there was fear evident in his face.
"Who checked the car this morning?", she asked as her tone was laced in fear. She can't let anything happen to her child.
"I…I was supposed to use the car I checked but…but…", the driver stammered.
"But what? ", Anna asked.
"I couldn't because…", the driver couldn't finish his statement before a truck rammed over them from the side.
The impact shook the whole car and the people inside went into a state of shock.
The truck driver stopped and rammed over the car two times more before turning to leave. It was obvious the driver wanted them dead. On the last hit, the people inside the car were flung out with bloodied bodies.
Anna prayed silently to the moon goddess to let her bring her child to the world before taking her. She closed her eyes as she muttered silently under her breath.
Her bloodied hands clung to her stomach and tightened as she protected her pup with every ounce of her strength.
"Save my child…please…don't let him die…save him" she kept muttering.
Before she closed her eyes, a silhouette of an extremely handsome man came into her view. He looked like one of those Greek gods but his clothes were of the pattern of forest trees and leaves.
He looked young but his aura was exuding power and strength. What was a man like this doing in the forest? He couldn't be the one who wants to kill her, right? There was no murderous aura around him.
But seeing the man staring at her stomach, she was so frightened that she clutched it tighter. She fainted after holding out for a while.
Fortunately, the driver who was also flung out was still conscious even as he bled non-stop. They weren't supposed to continue bleeding like this except…
Wolfbane.
It seems it was a planned assassination and the car had been smeared with wolfbane. Who would want Luna Anna and her child dead?
The driver had no time to think further as he quickly dialed the Alpha's number before he also passed out.
