Alpha Frederick was shaken by the news of his wife's death. He knew he was supposed to be beside her last night but Kiara was dying and needed him.
He loves his wife but Kiara gives him a different feeling whenever he was with her. That wildness that Anna could never give him.
He didn't mean to have a mistress but Anna couldn't satisfy his urges the way he wanted. So, he had to cheat on her…discreetly.
Well, it wasn't called cheating because practically, Alphas do have mistresses aside from their mate. His Alpha friends have several women kept to satisfy their urges.
The mate remains the Luna of the pack while the alpha enjoys the other women without giving them a title. The children from those women are illegitimate and have no rights.
Mistresses are normal norms among powerful alphas in the werewolf community but not all Alphas have. If a werewolf truly loves his mate, he would stick to her only. But, when they were connected because they were just mates, sometimes the love doesn't last.
Alpha Frederick was in the group of Alpha's who had mate connections. The first time he met his mate, Anna, he was drawn to her by the mate bond and something else. The bond was usually associated with lust…and love in some cases.
Alpha Frederick accepted his mate because of her father's connection and wealth. Anna was the daughter of the most powerful werewolf community at that time and he needed that connection to defeat his brothers.
But Anna couldn't satisfy his urges and he had to look for a mistress. Alpha Frederick met Kiara and she had stuck to him all these months, satisfying his desires and lust.
His eyes traveled to his son who was wrapped up by the nurses. The baby was looking fragile and sucked continuously in his mouth. It seems he was hungry. He was glad he had a son but the pain of losing his mate tugged at his heart.
Poor little thing, he thought.
Alpha Frederick carried the baby from the nurses and cuddled him naively. He had never held a child so small. His mate had left him a gift but how can he cater to him? He had so many responsibilities in his hands.
Just as he was in deep thoughts, his phone rang, and looked at the caller. It was Kiara. She must have heard of what happened.
"Kiara…"
"Sweetheart, where are you?"
"At the hospital"
"I will be there in twenty minutes"
"I need you, Kiara"
"And I will be here for you, sweetheart"
The call ended as Alpha Frederick held the tiny baby in his arms. He needs to be assisted. He can't do it alone.
"Do you think it's right to call Kiara here?" His Beta asked. Alpha Frederick knew Beta Frank never liked Kiara. But like always, he respected his decisions.
"She was the one that called…and I do need to stress out" Alpha Frederick replied weakly.
He handed the baby back to the nurse as he left the room where the child was kept. First, he has to pay his respect to his dead mate.
He needs to see his mate, Anna.
Alpha Frederick was led by a serviceman down the morgue to see his Luna Anna who just passed on. When they got there, he saw she was laid on a stretcher, probably waiting for him.
She had been cleaned neatly. She was still looking beautiful with her full hair of gold and thin lips that shaped her face. Her eyes were shut but her hazel eyes kept reflecting in his memory.
Alpha Frederick moved closer to his mate, Luna Anna and a drop of tear was seen rolling down his cheek. The service man silently left him alone so he could have time with his wife.
"I am sorry I wasn't there when you needed me. I am sorry to have neglected you all these days. Can you please forgive me?", Alpha Frederick whispered.
"I shouldn't have left last night. I could have prevented it. I know it is too late for regret but I just want to tell you that I am sorry"
"Thank you for giving me such a cute son. I heard from the nurses that you named him Rowland. That's a good name. I promise to take care of our son. I will look for someone to give him the motherly love he deserves"
"And…remember that…even though I never told you to love you…even if I have not been faithful. You always remain my only mate. I just want to tell you that I will take care of our son and he will surely grow up to be a great man"
"He has your lips and I hope he looks like you too. He is too small for me to know now. I promise you, Anna. I won't neglect him"
Alpha Frederick kept talking to his mate for almost an hour. He vowed to find the killers. He knew it was an assassination. Alpha Frederick found out from the doctor that she had been drinking a poisonous substance for some days now. It was a surprise his son survived.
"I promise to find your killers and hunt them down. I just wished I was there for you when you needed me the most" Alpha Frederick mourned deeply.
He didn't know that Kiara was standing just right outside the door. She smirked evilly to herself as she began to murmur silently.
"You can never find the killers, Alpha Frederick. I will make sure of it"
"I want to see how he is going to be great. I will never let him be the next Alpha. I will give you a son that would rule as Alpha"
"Anna, I will destroy your son. He would grow up under my wings and I will make him regret being alive. I will be the mother he knows. I will make him suffer before destroying him. You would lose everything"
Kiara took a deep breath as she got ready to display her acting skills.
