Wen Fei Fei dressed up her son appropriately and composed herself too. The child didn't have a name yet but that was nothing to be worried about.
Generally speaking, the children from influential families such as the Xie family were only named four months after their births.
In other words, only after their testing. If the child had too little potential, he was tactfully neglected and not added to the family's genealogy as no one wanted trash in the family.
To them, reputation was everything and they'd rather be childless than acknowledge a child with zero talents.
She tugged on her suit one more time before arriving at the great hall where the testing was to be held.
The three talented great grandchildren were right in their parents arms. Xie Wei Da was squirming in Luo Ran's arms and she kept eyeing him to behave.
He was already eight months old and could walk, why did she insist on carrying him if he didn't want to be carried?
Was she afraid no one would know of their mother son connection if he was placed on the ground and held at her side?
The other two talents were with their respective parents. Xie Jingcai was dressed formally and obediently stood at his mother's side. He was a year and six months.
Xie Youya, the last talent of the three was fourteen months old and stared at everyone with large, curious, eyes.
Wen Fei Fei inhaled calmly. There was really no need for the Xie relatives to squabble for Xie Zhang Wei's resources.
The Federation supplied the three talents with ample resources and grandpa Xie also cultured them carefully with his own too, but once humans had something, instead of being contented, they were always looking for ways to get more.
It was a case of eyeing the pot when you already had an overfull bowl before you. Endless greed.
She walked up to the representatives sent by the Federation and offered them a salute. She was a general's wife anyways and was familiar with the procedures.
The Federation had its own ulterior motives for sending these representatives here. They were hoping for another Xie Zhang Wei.
She rolled her eyes inwardly. Like she would allow her child to be at the mercy of the people who schemed her husband to death.
The lieutenant saluted back and the testing crystal was wheeled into the great hall.
It was a smooth hexagon shaped crystal. She never really figured out what it was made of, but apparently it could view into the depths of one's soul and uncover their spirit potential.
She looked to her child and calmly carried him forward.
Wen Yu was busy taking in his environment. It was his first time seeing so many people at once since he reincarnated into this universe.
They were all dressed in formal outfits with hexagonal patterns and shiny boots. It looked so futuristic.
He was sure the components of the material contained some sort of protective nano material. He looked to his own futuristic outfit.
It felt so comfortable, like silk on skin but it also looked extremely tough. He looked to everyone again. They were all so beautiful, it was blinding.
He turned to the transparent crystal before him. It looked so dazzling. He knew they were going to test his spirit potential and he was also looking forward to it.
He needed to know what all the fuss was about so he was really eager when his mother extended his hand and placed it on the crystal.
A bright light burst forth from the crystal and every single person in the room held their breaths. Even the little kids stared in awe when they saw the light.
After a while, the light receded and Wen Fei Fei's heart dropped to the very bottom of her stomach. She sighed inwardly.
It was a good thing she really didn't depend on his potential when making her plans.
The others just stared at the pale brown light coming from the crystal in shock. Isn't this a bit too pathetic?
Wen Yu stared at the disbelieving expressions on everybody's face. It seemed his situation...wasn't good?
Luo Ran was the first to overcome her shock. "Tsk, tsk, eldest brother-in-law must have sucked up the potential of eight generations of his descendants."
She immediately shut up when she saw grandpa Xie's furious glare. Even the military personnels could barely contain their disappointment.
If just anyone could have an SSS rank spirit potential then it wouldn't be called legendary but wasn't this a little too ordinary?
This was General Xie's child! The child of the youngest hero of the Federation to become a pseudo Crystallized god level spirit master!
How could he be this ordinary? It should be known that the common people in this era were sturdier and stronger than their counterparts a deca-millenium ago but were considered to be born with a body with D rank potential.
They would spontaneously implode if they ever got close enough to a Mecha talk less of entering it to operate, so those born with D potential were automatically written off and were deemed as ordinary people.
The starting point for a person's spirit potential was the C rank as they could form a spirit core and begin to assimilate at this point.
It was a term which referred to the process of gathering spirit energy into one's spirit sea and although these people could harness spirit energy and feel it in their spirit sea, they could also never operate a Mecha in their lifetime.
The lowest threshold for one to be able to operate a Mecha was B rank potential and it was only a Primary Mecha!
Alas.
The talented general's son only amounted to this much. Grandpa Xie was the most disappointed. He'd hoped that this child would be able to inherit his father's amazing talent but it might really be as Luo Ran said.
Xie Zhang Wei must have used up the luck and potential of his bloodline and there was absolutely nothing left.
Not only did the child have C rank potential, it was even flickering weakly. He would never be able to rise above the Yellow phase. Piloting a Mecha was absolutely impossible, how very disappointing.
