DAMIEN
Guinevere was ignoring me. I had tried to strike up a conversation a few times on the drive into the Silent Forest pack territory, but Gwynn remained silent, staring out the window, seemingly lost in her thoughts.
"Gwynn'" I called, reaching over and grabbing her hand on her lap.
She jerked it away from me.
"We need to talk about the Silent Forest pack."
Gwynn turned her head in interest.
"What about it?" She said, glaring at me.
"I'm going to have to tell the Alpha that you're my mate. He will see that we're both marked, and if I don't introduce you as my mate, it could cause trouble for the pack."
"What should I care about your pack Damien? They've never seemed to care about me." Gwynn sneered at me.
"Gwynn... you don't mean that. You're mother and father are still a part of our pack."
"And what happens afterward if you introduce me as your mate today, Damien? Do we pretend that everything will be fine? Do we pretend that word won't spread to your pack that you've found your Luna?"
I reached over and took her hand in mine again, stroking my fingers against the back of her palm. "We will take it one day at a time, baby."
"Easy for you to say, Damien." She responded, jerking her hand from mine once again, "You are an Alpha; I'm just the daughter of a traitor."
I could feel myself getting angry. I was angry that Gwynn felt like she didn't belong with me due to her family history; I was angry that our parents' mistake could become the reason Gwynn left me.
"Guinevere," I growled at her. "You're more than just a Traitors Daughter. You're my mate; you're the future Luna of the Blue Moon Pack."
I could hear the sharp intake of Guinevere's breath as I pulled off to the side of the road and parked the SUV.
"Damien, why are you stopping? I thought it was impertinent that we see Elder Derek immediately?"
I took off my seat belt and turned to her.
"This is more important than anything Derek has to say." I leaned forward and took her face in my hands. "Guinevere, I know we haven't known each other for very long, but you're my entire world. I love you, and I can't imagine living my life without you. I am yours, and you are mine. I can't imagine anyone else leading the Blue Moon pack with me. I don't care if the other packs view me as weak; I don't care if I disappoint my father or the elders in the pack. As long as I have you by my side, Guinevere, I know that I can conquer whatever life throws at us."
Gwynn stared at me silently for a few minutes before leaning in and gently kissing my lips. When she pulled away, she had tears in her eyes.
"Okay, Damien, you can introduce me as your mate. Now let's get going. I don't want to keep Elder Derek waiting any longer. I'm anxious to hear what's so important that he had us rush over here."
I let out a heavy sigh of relief; Gwynn had accepted me; I quickly put my seatbelt back on and started up the SUV continuing our journey to the Silent Forest pack.
UNKNOWN
I stared out over the shadows, watching the SUV drive further into the woods. Jupiter would not be happy with this new intel; Guinevere and Damien had completed the mating process. Guinevere would be coming into her full power. If we didn't attack soon, Jupiter's plan would be ruined. I shifted into my wolf form and hurried to the spot Jupiter had set up for our meeting.
GUINEVERE
I'm not sure how, but my entire life had changed overnight. Damien was officially my mate, and he loved me and wanted me to be his Luna. He wanted to introduce me as his mate. There would be no going back after we meet with Elder Derek and the Alpha of the Silent Woods pack. I would be known as Damien's mate. I was nervous about the packs' reaction, but that didn't matter right now. I needed to focus on our meeting with Elder Derek. The SUV stopped in front of a large wood cabin.
"We're here," Damien said, smiling over at me. "Are you ready?"
I let out a small breath I didn't know I had been holding. "As ready as I'll ever be."
Damien and I got out of the SUV and headed towards the cabin doors. It seemed eerily quiet, but Damien had informed me that the Silent Forest pack was small. Damien knocked on the cabin door before opening it and walking in.
"Alpha Damien," a loud masculine voice boomed behind a desk. "We've been expecting you." The man stood up. He appeared to be in his late 40s, and he had dull blue eyes and messy dishwater blond hair sprinkled with greys all over. He wasn't anything spectacular for a wolf, but if he'd been human, who would've been considered handsome. "I am Elder Derek, Alpha Caleb, is currently preoccupied with Rouges on the east end of the forest. He sends his apologies that he missed meeting you, Alpha Damien." Derek said, reaching his hands toward Damien.
Damien shook his hand.
Derek turned towards me, "and you must be Luna Guinevere. The moon goddess has told me so much about you and your wolf Sabrina."
Damien and I both looked at each other. The confusion was evident on both of our faces.
"The moon goddess told you about my mate?" Damien asked Elder Derek. "Does this have something to do with her wolf's form?"
I scowled my brows and looked between the elder and the Alpha, trying to figure out what I was missing,
Elder Derek cleared his throat, "If you don't mind, Alpha. Maybe I should take things from here."
Damien and I both turned to Elder Derek, awaiting his explanation.
"Do you know the basic story about the moon goddess and how our kind was created?"
Damien and I both nodded.
"Good, because our story starts shortly after that." Elder Derek replied.
