Chereads / A Fated Mistake / Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

GUINEVERE

One moment, I was there with Damien and Derek, and the next, I was in the clearing, facing the Moon Goddess once more.

"So now you know." She states, looking me in my eyes, a trace of sorrow in her own.

"Yeah, now I know, and there isn't anything I can do to help the Silent Forest Pack," I reply solemnly. I possess the spirit of a wolf whose own strength matches that of the Moon Goddess, and I can't even save the pack that helped me discover my reason for being put here on this Earth.

"I'm afraid not, dear child, you've only just finished the mating process with your fated. Sabrina hasn't come into her full power yet. You wouldn't be strong enough if you were to face Jupiter today. Jupiter would destroy you, and within a year, he would succeed in killing off the werewolf species."

'THIS ISN'T RIGHT!" I yell at her, unleashing a fury inside of me that had nothing to do with the moon goddess herself and everything to do with the evils outside of the spirit realm

With the release of my anger, the wind is picking up around us, causing the hot spring waters to come up in high waves, smashing against the rocks and flowing into the meadow.

The moon goddess doesn't say anything. Instead, she approaches me and gently lays a hand on my shoulder. It feels like her gentle caress on my shoulder is taking an essential part of me away. I gasp when she finally pulls her hand from my shoulder; a shimmer of magic flows from me, and when she blows that magic from her hand, it shifts into a white wolf with a crescent moon on her head.

My mouth continuously opens and shuts. Finally, I can whisper out the wolf's name.

"Sabrina... But how.... why?" I ask, turning to the moon goddess.

"Now, you can release your rage and not worry about destroying the spirit realm."

"That," I gesture towards the water that has now started to calm down. "That was me?"

"Yes," She replies, looking fondly at her daughter. "Now you understand the power of Sabrina and why you must learn how to harness such power before you're able to release it on Jupiter. The wolves of the Silent Forest pack are a magical bunch of wolves. They've played their part in this war. Now it is up to you." The moon goddess replies, her image flickering in and out, "Listen to the voice inside your head, not just Sabrina, but the other voice. And follow your heart. You are destined for greatness, my child. The future of your kind rests in your hands."

As the Goddess's image fades, Sabrina rushes toward me, and upon contact, her spirit flows into me again, and I can feel the power that I now harness inside of me.

DAMIEN

Guinevere... Guinevere." I call, gently shaking my mate's leg to wake her from her slumber. "It's time to wake up, darling."

Guinevere's eyes flutter open, and she surprisingly doesn't look upset. "Where are we?" She asks as she repeatedly blinks, trying to get her eyes to focus so she can take in our surroundings.

"We are home." I reply cautiously, watching her facial expression, "I'm sorry Derek had to drug you; it was the only way we could get you out of there before Jupiter arrived."

"I know." She replies softly, "I understand why. Do you know if the pack was able to make it out before Jupiter arrived?"

I take a large swallow, shoving down my own emotions and the regret I felt in not being able to help the Silent Forest Pack, "Derek found a way to send me a mindlink just before he died. The pack managed to injure Jupiter and his followers. He said the amount of havoc they wrecked on him should take him some time to recover. In the end, the Silent Forest Pack and all the wolves in the pack fell. There's no one left." I reply sorrowfully.

Gwynn wraps her arms around me, I don't know if she's seeking comfort from me or comforting me, but I'll take what I can get; I lean into her hold and place a gentle peck on her lips. "I love you, Guinevere," I murmur against her lips.

Guinevere's eyes glisten with unshed tears that she tries to fan away, "I love you too.

"I know it's late, and we are emotional, but are you ready to be reintroduced to the pack as my mate and Luna?" I ask Gwynn monitoring her face for her reaction.

She looks down timidly, "I guess I am."

"Don't worry, love." I kissed the top of her head. "The pack can wait until morning."

I scoop Guinevere up in my arms, causing her to let out a little squeal as I carry her through the threshold of the packhouse doors and up the stairs straight to the Alpha quarters. I would typically stop and let her look at my living space, but I know my little mate is tired, so I carry her straight to my room. As soon as I kick the door open, Guinevere, or should I say Sabrina, lets out a low growl as Stephanie's scent wafts through the air.

"Damien!" Stephanie shouts my name, rushing toward me, her arms spread open as if she wanted to embrace me. The moment her eyes spot Guinevere, she stops in her tracks, her eyes glowing an amber color as she allows her wolf to partially surface. "What the fuck, Damien! What the fuck are you doing with that slut." She growls, her fur slightly sprouting, showing how angry she is.

I feel Leo start to stir inside me, his anger rising at how Stephanie is talking to our mate and that she's still in our room. Guinevere immediately jumps from my arms, making me miss her nearness and the tiny sparks her skin brings.

"I think the real question is, what are you doing in my mate's bedroom?" Gwynn snarls, "I think the real question is, what are you doing in my mate's bedroom?"

"Ha," Stephanie laughs like Guinevere is the funniest person alive, "Are you fucking stupid? The low-life daughter of a traitor can't be the mate to an Alpha?"

"Wow, Stephanie, you are dense. I would say it's a good thing you're pretty, but even that wouldn't be true. Your bitchy behavior makes that impossible. But I don't know how I can make it clearer to you that DAMIEN is MINE. Can't you smell our scents mixing in the air, or are you so blind that you can't see my mark on Damien's neck or his on mine?." Guinevere yells at Stephanie, her eyes swirling as Sabrina makes her presence clear.

Stephanie's claws come out as she launches toward Guinevere, aiming straight for Gwynn's neck. I go to grab Stephanie, worried that she might hurt Guinevere when I hear Gwynn shout. "No, Damien, Don't touch her. She's mine!"

"Submit, Stephanie!" Gwynn screeches in a voice that sounds nothing like her own. Her Alpha Aurora flowed all around her, making even me, a pure-blood Alpha, want to bare my neck to her. "Submit to your Luna."

Stephanie flies down on all fours and bares her neck in submission. "Please, Guinevere, please stop. You're hurting me."

Guinevere speaks again, her voice still not sounding like her own, "Come near my mate again, and I will kill you. Now leave."

Stephanie quickly crawls from the room, not bothering to grab her clothes to cover her naked body. I slam the door shut behind her, and send a quick mindlink to the Packhouse Omega to have the locks to the Alpha's quarters changed before turning my attention back to my mate.

"Gwynn, She's gone. Please calm down." I reply, my voice shaking due to her aura's pressure on me.

Guinevere turns to face me, a smile on her face unlike any I've seen before. "I am not Guinevere. I am Sabrina. If I see your whore again, if she dares try to hurt Guinevere, I will kill her and destroy you. If anyone tries to hurt my human again, I will not hesitate to ruin their life. Mate or not, I will no longer allow your past to hurt her."

"Sabrina, please give Guinevere back control. Let me see my mate." I begged her; I could feel myself being crushed under her Alpha aura, and I wasn't sure how much longer I could take this.

Sabrina looked at me and smiled, walking over to me and gently kissing me on my lips before pulling away.

GUINEVERE

Damien was carrying me through the packhouse up to his room, and my heart was full of love for my mate; I felt like I belonged somewhere for the first time. That feeling suddenly ended when Damien opened the door to his room, and I was hit with a familiar disgusting smell.

I felt Sabrina let out a low growl, and then everything went black. I didn't feel like I was sleeping, but I couldn't see or hear anything. When my vision and hearing finally came back, I felt Damien's lips on mine, and Stephanie was no longer in sight.

'Sabrina, what happened?' I questioned my wolf.

'I'm sorry, Guinevere, that skank Stephanie was here, and I had to deal with her.'

'Why can't I remember anything, Sabrina?'

'I had to take control. I had to put Stephanie in her place. I used my Alpha Aura on her. We might have hurt mate.'

I drop my link with Sabrina and pull slightly away from Damien. "Damien, are you okay? Sabrina said she might have hurt you'"

fine, baby," Damien says, stroking my hair, "I'm just glad you're back. But remind me never to piss off your wolf. Sabrina has some serious power."

'Well, what does he expect?' Sabrina said, rolling her eyes. 'I am one of the original werewolves. I am the wolf of wolves, the ultimate Alpha."

I let out a chuckle; Sabrina sure can be cocky sometimes.

What are you laughing about?" Damien asks with a look of confusion.

"Oh, just Sabrina. She likes to talk herself up. She says she's the wolf of wolves."

"Well, that explains why I can't resist her even as an Alpha," Damien said, reaching into his back pocket. But enough chatter about Sabrina. I feel like this will be the only free chance I get to read this letter." Damien walks to his bed and sits down, patting the spot beside him.

"What letter?" I ask, walking over to his bed and sitting beside him, putting my hand on his thigh, enjoying the sparks of the mate bond.

"Elder Derek gave me a letter right before we left the Silent Forest pack. He said it held crucial Pack information." Damien opens the envelope and takes a letter out, its pages are crisp, but the yellowing of the paper indicates that it's old. Damien reads the letter aloud so both of us can learn its contents simultaneously.

Dearest,

Today, I visited the witch. She said there is a way we can destroy Alpha Sam. We will make him lose faith in the Moon Goddess and take the power of his friendship with Gregory from him, leaving him with absolutely nothing to lean on. Then when Alpha Sam is at his lowest point, we can strike. We will be able to slay the Alpha and end the Valencia line, allowing us to take back the Blue Moon pack and restore what was rightfully ours.

The witch requires these ingredients; she says they can be found in the Ivory City.

A spider's eye

A pinch of dried vampires blood

A strand of a Virgin's hair

Saliva from a baby.

She needs two of each ingredient; the first ingredient, a spider's eye, must be taken from two different spiders.

Then she will make a potion for the Alpha and one for his best friend. The potion will cause the Alpha to think Gregory's mate is his own. He will try to force his friend into rejecting his mate so that the Alpha can take her as her own. Knowing Gregory and the pure spirit he is, he will try to resist the urge of the mate bond, and try to convince Sam that they can share their mate, since she is a gift created for them by the Goddess herself.

Once Gregory realizes his mate doesn't feel a bond with Alpha Sam he will confront him. Alpha Sam will then accuse Gregory of trying to steal his mate. When Gregory won't back down, Sam challenges him for his mate. Gregory will win the fight, but he will lose his friend in the process.

The witch insists that if both Sam and Gregory take the potion that this is how the events will unfold. She's seen this future in her orb, and it will only come true if the potion is given to the Alpha and his friend an hour before the Alpha Ceremony.

The witch needs these ingredients with the next two days to make the potion in time for the ceremony. Hurry quickly and gather them my love. I'm counting down the days until we can be united again.

Sincerely. Your faithful servant,

Madeline Del Noir.
