An arm snaked around my waist snatching me away from the crowd into an empty class. I opened my mouth shout but a firm hand pressed against my mouth.
" Stop avoiding me V!" he yelled at me slamming his hand on the nearby desk.
I jumped a bit before gaining my composure.
"Mmh." his hand was still on my mouth. Pure shock and then disgust filled expression covered his face as I licked his hand.
"Eww" Hunter immediately snatched back his hand wiping it on his jeans.
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
"What the hell is wrong with you? You know this could basically be called kidnapping."
"Don't play with me right now, Violet. You've been avoiding me since the funeral. You basically run away at the sight of me as if I'm carrying some contagious disease."
I looked him up and down. He was wearing a normal white tee paired with black jeans. He looked so....normal. Nothing like the guy I saw last week at my father's funeral who wore a black suit, looking older than his age, followed by two of his main bodyguards. Seeing him in college was like looking at a completely different person.
"I'm not avoiding you." I said while avoiding eye contact.
"Sure you aren't." he remarked drily.
I opened my mouth to defend myself when the classroom door opened and Chase stormed in.
"Violet! I told you to inform me before going anywhere."
"I actually don't have to."
He dragged his hand through his messy brown hair and let out a frustrated sigh.
"I promised your father that I will take care of you. Don't make it difficult for me." he walked over where Hunter and I were standing and placed himself between us.
They stared at each other, waiting for the other to walk out. I was the one to break the silence.
"Well he's dead so I don't think its your job anymore."
None of them spoke up after that and the silence now became uncomfortable. The door opened once again and in came Cora.
She had a bright smile on her face. Not that great at reading the room I guess.
"Did you all send some text on a groupchat that I'm not a part of, to meet up here?" I asked as Cora placed an arm around my shoulder.
"I saw you from the window, why are we all standing here though?" she chirped right in my ear.
"Nothing its just them being shitheads." I pointed at the guys who still had a staring competition going on.
Maybe if I had been more observant I would have noticed a silent message that they exchanged.
Hunter spoke up, " So when are you coming over to stay?"
"Never." Chase and Cora stated in unison.
I dragged out an 'okayyyy'.
Everyone is being weird. It feels like something is off but I just can't put my finger on it. Before I could ponder on my thoughts, Cora linked her arm with mine.
"Let's just go home, I'm sure you're tired." There was love mixed with pity in her eyes. I nodded at her. I needed time to think. As we walked out, I looked behind to meet the gaze of the two people I had known practically all my life. I could trust them.
Yeah.
I hope I won't regret it but its not like I've got someone else apart from them.
