Instead of staying at the gypsy camp Marino decided to rent a house with the help of Nana who basically was the face of the operation because Marino didn't want to be outed as a vampire. Ari wasn't the only person grateful to have Marino in their life.
Having Marino around made Nana feel young again. He relied on her heavily for knowledge and advice especially concerning Gardenia and its customs and politics. Not a day goes by that she didn't miss her daughter or son in law but now Eileen and Marino were like family to her.
They made her life lively and she felt active once more, she still felt the aches and pains that came with old age but now she had someone to share them with. She and Eileen got along fabulously and the two would go out and leave Marino alone to go and play poker.
