Chapter 1. Prologue
"Ha Ha" A young boy panted after falling on the ground.
The snow underneath him crunched, softening his landing a bit. His body instinctively relaxed and he laid back in the snow. Despite it being cold, and snow fell on the boy's youthful face, he showed no reaction towards it even though he wore a short sleeve shirt and short trousers.
The boy had short silver hair, with white eyebrows and eyelashes while his eyes were ruby red. His facial features were handsome and would catch the attention of many maidens when it matured while his small body was developing muscles. In his right hand was a wooden sword that he refused to let go off even though he had already fallen.
The boy's name was Adonis Snow, and he was seven years old.
"Did you find something down there on the ground, little Ada." A teasing voice from above said making the boy's face turn red. He tried getting back up, but he couldn't. His small body had enough training for one day, and all he could do was pout as the owner of the voice crouched next to him.
The owner of the voice was a beautiful young woman that some might even mistaken for a goddess. She had long flowing silver hair and ruby red eyes, that matched Adonis. At first glance the young woman looked to be Adonis' sister, but she was actually his mother, Freya Snow.
Freya was wearing a white sleeveless dress with a scarf around her, neck that matched the snowy environment and wild life of the forest, while in her right hand was a similar wooden sword to Adonis.
"Ada~" Freya sweet voice rang out, but Adonis turned his head away from her. "Have you finally admitted defeat." Freya chuckled childishly while poking Adonis' cheek.
"Never!" Adonis shouted while rolling away and standing up with the help of his sword. "And call me Adonis, Ada is a name for girls."
Although Adonis tried to sound convincing and mature, in Freya's mind she could only see her cute child with puffy red cheeks. She wanted to run up to him and pinch them, but she remember the last time she did that Adonis didn't talk to her for a whole hour, it was torture.
"Fine, Adonis. Do you give up." Freya smirked while raising her sword.
"Never!!!" Adonis shouted while limping towards Freya with a fiery determination in his eyes.
- 1 minute later.
"I give up! I give up!" Adonis shouted, the flame in his eyes had died out as he struggled to get from underneath Freya. His sword was broken in half while his mother sat on his back burying his face in snow.
"Oh," Freya said unbothered. "I thought you said you would never give up. I haven't even tried, yet you are like this already." Freya said after flipped to the next page of her small book, ignoring the struggles of her son below her.
"Mommy! Mommy! Please. Get up! You're heavy!" Adonis screamed, but he instantly regretted those words after they came out of his mouth.
For the next five minutes the cries of a little boy resounded through the forest scaring away all the small creatures in the area.
"So, what have you learned Ada?" Freya asked while Adonis laid in front of her since his bottom was in too much pain to sit down.
"Mother is beautiful, kind, and majestic." Adonis answered with a forced smile.
"Ah, you're to sweet Ada." Freya smiled bashfully before standing up. "Come on now since you gave up lets go home, you father has probably cooked dinner already."
"Good, if you cooked again I think my tummy would hurt for the whole month." Adonis muttered.
"What was that sweetie?" Freya asked with a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
Adonis panicked and said the first thing that came to mind. "I said uh, good, yes good, because my tummy was... um starting to hurt. I'm hungry, yep that's what I said."
"Oh, I thought you said something else." Freya laughed while covering her mouth. "So you wouldn't mind me cooking tomorrow would you?"
"... Of course not, but that's only if dad agrees first." Adonis said putting the pressure to his father now. Hopeful his father would have the courage to say no or he might die of food poisoning.
When Adonis stood up he lost his balance and almost fell, but before he touched the ground he found himself floating in the air.
"My, my~ it seems like I went a little to hard on you today." Freya muttered once Adonis stopped floating and fell into her arms in a princess carry.
"It doesn't hurt that much." Adonis said puffing out his chest trying to seem tough, but him wincing in pain didn't back up his words. "Anyways mother, if it's true that your so strong why do we live all the way out here instead of in a nice house, like the ones I heard about inside of Haven." Adonis asked.
The question had been on his mind for a while, but he always forgot or there was never a chance to get an answer.
"Where did you hear that from." Freya frowned.
"Umm, last time I went with father to the village. I saw that people where being picked up by people with nice uniforms, and Uncle Joe told me that they were going to join the military just like you, and that they would be away for four years since they had to train inside the barrier of Haven." Adonis said.
"He also told me a lot of stuff about Haven and all the nice things they have, like huge house which have towers on them called... castles and also pretty gems like... jewelry, but only strong and rich people could have them. Since your so strong why don't we have any?" Adonis asked.
Freya eyes wandered aimlessly until she spotted a two-story wooden house in the distance. The frown on her face turned in to a pondering expression until she sighed. "Ada, sometimes when a person is to strong for people to defeat by normal means, they use their weakness against them to beat them."
"How can a strong person have weakness?" Adonis tilted his head. "Strong people are supposed to be invincible and unbeatable like you, even father can't find your weakness."
Freya chuckled and kissed Adonis forehead. "Just because you're strong doesn't mean that your invincible or don't have any weakness. A weakness isn't necessarily about an individual person, but also the things they care about, like you and your father, you guys are my weakness that's why we live out here. So you can be safe from the people who want to hurt me." Freya answered.
"What do you mean mother? I'm also very strong I'm not a weakness maybe father is though since even I can beat him." Adonis stated. "Mother what if I protect father then that means you won't have a weakness and we can live with all the pretty stuff I heard about from uncle." Adonis said jumping in Freya's arms with sparkling eyes at his genius idea.
"Haha, Ada you're very silly. You don't get it now, but eventually you will, but I promise next time I'm away I'll get you something nice from inside the barrier or maybe I'll bring you inside to get you something you like." Freya smiled.
They pasted a white tree that was growing snow white flowers even during the cold before reaching the front of their door where Freya put Adonis down.
"Pinky promise?" Adonis asked sticking out his pudgy pinky finger.
"I promise." Freya smiled and wrapped her pinky finger which had a silver ring with a small ruby gem around Adonis'. Adonis laughed in joy as he would get a present and the door opened.
"Adonis! Adonis! Adonis!" The man who opened the door shouted.
"Yes father." A youth sitting in front of a white tree replied.
The youth had shoulder length silver hair which was tied back with a red hair tie and beautiful gem-like ruby eyes. His facial features were chiseled, while his mouth and neck was covered by a scarf making anyone who saw him want to remove it to see the rest of his face.
He wore a white short sleeve shirt and black short trousers even though it was snowing, but he showed a relaxed expression instead of an uncomfortable one. On his right pinky finger was a silver ring with a ruby gem in it, while a beautiful well crafted snowflake pendant was around his neck.
The youth was Adonis Snow, who had just turned sixteen years old today.
Turning around Adonis saw a slim man with a large black winter coat around him. The man had blue eyes and long grey hair that peeked out of his jacket. His face was pale and he had wrinkles on it making him look older than he was.
*Achoo*
The man sneezed from just standing in the cold for a few seconds, he never knew how his son could stand out there for hours with light clothing and be perfectly fine.
"Come back inside the house dinner is almost ready." Cyrus the name of Adonis father said seeing his son still sitting down.
Adonis showed a wryly smile as he lost track of time. "Sorry father, I was just reminiscing again. You know I'm always stuck in the past." Adonis said quickly getting up and leading his father into the comforting warmth of his house.
The place where Adonis was looking at was the white tree in front of his house. At the front of the tree was a wooden tombstone that said the name 'Freya Snow.'
