Chapter 6.
In the middle of a snowy forest, a girl was being surrounded five snow wolves that growled at her menacingly. Around them were eight corpses of snow wolves whose fur was dye red from blood. They were killed by the girl, so the snow wolves were out for revenge.
The girl who was fighting the snow wolves wasn't in the best situation. The expensive looking dress she was wearing was torn in various places revealing her underwear. The left sleeve of her dress was in pieces barely hanging together while its previous yellow color was now dye red from her blood and her left arm hang limply from injuries.
Her long amber was unkept with some leaves and branches in it, while her green eyes where full of fear and regret, but also determination. In her right hand was dagger which was dripping with the blood of the fallen snow wolves. The only thing keeping her conscious right now was the cold temperature and snow which numb her pain.
The snow wolves continued to circle the girl while growling trying to taunt their prey. Despite being wild animals they had some form of intelligence and knew even though their prey was injured she was still dangerous.
The girl continued to be vigilant, but after minute of turning she tripped over the snow. Not only was she wearing broken heels, but also she wasn't used to the snowy terrain of the northern territory.
As soon as she fell the wolves howled before pouncing on her. Fear clouded the mind of the girl and the wolves aim to kill her, but she didn't want to die.
The first wolf who came from her right opened it's mouth trying to take a bite out of her pretty face by that was a mistake. Just before it's maw reached her she thrusted her dagger up and through the bottom of it's head killing it.
She quickly tried to get up, but the second wolf had already reached her and took a bite out of her foot making her scream in pain. Tears fell down her pretty doll-face as she saw two more wolves coming in front of her and the growls of the last beast right in front of her.
She closed her eyes, she could picture her life. Her lavish childhood, her family, her rebelliousness. She wished that she could go back to her parents and say that she loved them as the last time they met they left on bad terms.
Time continued to past and soon the girl reached up to her point now. Where she had been running away from snow wolves for hours. She thought that at least she did good seeing how at the beginning she had to fight forty of them by herself.
A smile appeared on her face with tears as she opened her eyes only to see that she hadn't died. Also that a handsome boy around her age was sitting in front of her with a curious look in his eyes.
As for his expression she couldn't tell since a scarf was wrapped around his mouth and neck. He had silver hair and red eyes that looked like priceless gems. He wore a black trench coat with silver lining going down the sleeves, and black boots. While on his hand were black gloves.
"A prince." The girl muttered as her cheeks were flushed red.
"No I'm not a prince, though I saved your life." Adonis said cutting the girl out of her daydream. "Anyways what did you do to have a pack of snow wolves chase you, they're pretty passive unless aggravated."
Adonis stood up which revealed the two snow wolves behind him that's heads had been cleanly served from their bodies. The girl turn to the other side and saw the same thing happen to the other wolf while the one at her foot was no where to be found.
'He saved my life.' The girl thought with tears falling down her face making Adonis uncomfortable. Until he thought about how he cried around week ago before he left his house and headed to the nearest village.
'I guess maybe I would cry too, if I was about to die and then someone saved me.' Adonis thought.
After the girl finished crying she quickly stood up and did a curtsy to Adonis. "Thank you savior, my name is Amelia Dillane my father is a viscount and will reward you handsomely for saving my life."
'Honesty I only saved her because I felt a pain in my Mystic Core when I was about to ignored her. Maybe it was a sign from mother.' Adonis thought. "It was my pleasure to safe such a beautiful woman and there is no need for any rewards." Adonis bowed back.
Amelia was surprised seeing Adonis manners, although he didn't look poor she thought he was a commoner since mostly all of the nobility lived inside of the Haven and not the outer Haven.
"Umm, excuse me, but are you a no- ack!" Amelia was cut off short as she tripped, but she was luckily caught by Adonis making her blush and mutter 'thank you.'
"Your left arm and right foot are badly injured, it would probably take a week or two, to fully heal maybe less if you use expensive medicine or potions." Adonis stated as his eyes examined every part of Amelia's body, which wasn't covered by much.
"That's a relief I won't miss the enlisting then." Amelia sighed in relief.
"You're joining the military?" Adonis asked after sitting Amelia down on a large rock and taking off his bag to disinfect her wounds.
"What?! You don't think a woman should the military too!" Amelia shouted aggressively.
Despite her anger and yelling Adonis answered back in a normal tone while cleaning the wound on her foot. "No, I actually think it's amazing and brave for a woman to join the military."
At first Amelia was angry as she thought the man who saved her would be like all the other men in her life and most of society, but she felt warmth in her heart not only hearing Adonis' words, but the way he looked as he praised women who join the army. She could see that he wasn't lying and actually had respect for them.
Of course what she didn't know was that Adonis would only respect either the strong or hardworking woman as that was the type of person his mother was. As for the rest, he would treat them like air.
Amelia grew up her whole life listening to the standard that woman shouldn't join the military for fighting and only to find a talented solider to marry. She would have been like this for the rest of her life if it wasn't because of her hero who was also a military woman and one stronger than most men. She was arguably the strongest woman in history, but unfortunately she died.
Her eyes wandered too Adonis and she couldn't help but think her resembled that woman.
"What's your na-" Amelia was cut off again.
"Here." Adonis said after throwing his trench coat on Amelia.
"What's this for?" She asked confused, but all Adonis had to do was point at her. Amelia's face became as red as a tomato as she realized that she was basically naked and in front of a guy. She screamed making all the birds in the area fly away.
---
"Perv, perv, perv." Amelia muttered from behind Adonis.
"I told you already, I only waited so long so I could clean all of your wounds." Adonis sighed. He was carrying Amelia on his back while she was wearing his trench coat to cover her entire body. In front of his was his bag, both which were heavy, but Adonis carried them without a problem.
"You saw me naked now you need to take responsibility." Amelia muttered.
"Absolutely not." Adonis quickly denied. "Plus a there wasn't much to see anyways."
Adonis regretted those words as for the next two hours, Amelia ranted nothing but insults to him. He really wanted to just leave her behind, but every time he tried he would get a reaction from his Mystic Core.
'It seems I have to learn how to filter my words. Especially for girls who are as sensitive as mother.' Adonis sighed.
When the village was in sight Amelia finally stopped insulting Adonis as she realized something.
"Oh yea, I forgot I never got your name." Amelia tapped Adonis, and asked.
Adonis was looking at the village which looked more like a bustling small town in thought.
'I don't know who mother's enemies are, and using the Snow surname could bring unwanted attention. Then there is the fact that most commoners don't have surnames, wait was mother truly a commoner or a noble.' Adonis had many questions but sighed knowing he wouldn't find out the answer. "My name is Adon-"
Adonis stopped mid sentence as his face grew sharp and cold. He quickly grabbed onto Amelia's waist with one arm making sure she wouldn't fall, before jumping back.
"Wha-" As Amelia was about to ask what the change in Adonis' attitude and action, she saw the five arrows hit the area where they were previously at.
"I was being careless since we were near the village, but it seems like we have been surrounded." Adonis muttered, while Amelia who was on his back was still recovering from the shock.
