JANE POV:
"I think there's a way" one added.
A ray of hope glittered in my heart.
"What's the way?" asked the King.
"We could summon Lord Arelam, maybe speak to him as a fellow Lord".
Murmurs of support began to pour in.
"Never. No summoning in this palace ever again".
Everywhere grew silent.
"Your Majesty, it is the only logical solution to save the pure-blood. We can't risk his life for..., a mistake".
The King shot him a bloodshot look. He cowered in fear and bowed his head.
I looked at Drekov for an explanation but he just glared sadly at his toes.
He looked flushed after hearing the last statement.
'Something's going on here' I thought, but I couldn't wait to find out what.
"No summoning in my palace" roared the King.
"This meeting is officially over".
He stormed out of the room via a door I never saw before.
"What happened? Why's he so pissed?".
It was Aurella.
"It's all my fault. I'm going to my room now".
"Errm, no you're not. I need an explanation now". I too was getting pissed off.
He stormed off in a sad mood.
"Dre..., Drekov".
"What's wrong with him?".
"Let's find out".
FEW MOMENTS LATER
"Drekov, Drekov".
We searched the palace for him. We couldn't find him anywhere.
"What's going on, children?".
It was Aunt Aggie.
"Aunt Aggie, we can't find Drekov".
"We've searched everywhere we could, but can't find him".
"I know where he'll be, but first tell me what's wrong".
"They spoke about something like a summoning mistake".
She sighed and looked away.
"You know what happened, right?".
"I do, but can't tell you".
"Why?".
"It's a painful memory".
"What transpired?".
"Come with me, children".
*FLASHBACK*
It was Drekov's coronation ceremony in Moscow.
The King held a big party on that night.
Drekov newly discovered his magical abilities. He took some lessons with the German Academy.
He was supposed to prove to the kingdom, particularly the Council, his worthiness in handling his kingdom after the King's demise.
It was the custom for the crown prince to summon his royal staff.
The staff, peculiar to him alone will be used to rule but the magical and common folk. It commanded a great source of magic to be welded by him.
During the summoning, something went wrong. Drekov lost control of the staff.
The magic struck his mother on her throne.
She couldn't survive the fatal blow.
She died after a few days of intense pains.
Though she urged the King to forgive him, he couldn't find a place in his heart to let go of the past.
He sent his son to the American Academy to forget the pain.
*FLASHBACK ENDS*
"Wow, I never knew. He always looked so happy".
"That's because he's found friends in you guys, and right now, he needs you guys".
DREKOV POV:
The pain won't just go away.
I still remember her smile, how she took care of me.
I killed her because of a careless mistake.
I hit my head severally on the pavement.
A warm liquid began to flow down my temple; my blood.
I didn't care about myself, all I wanted was a chance to see her once again.
"He's here". It was Aurella.
I could feel their presence around me. I didn't bother to look up.
"Drekov's bleeding" Aurella noticed in alarm.
"It's nothing".
"Let me help you".
"It's fine".
"You're not fine. You're bleeding".
"It's fine!"
I yelled loudly at her.
I immediately felt remorseful.
Everyone looked startled.
"I'm sorry. It just came out".
"Keep it together" Jane said.
"We're sorry about your mom".
Immediately, I burst into tears.
Aurella cuddled me right from behind.
"It's fine. It was just a mistake".
"No, it's not. I killed her".
"You didn't kill her".
"Look, my father hates me. He won't look at me anymore".
"He doesn't hate you".
I wept aloud. They all scooped me into a bear-hug.
I sobbed strongly. The memories just won't stop haunting me.
"She loved me so much. And I killed her".
"No, you didn't".
"Think of her now. Would she want this?".
*FLASHBACK*
I saw her wriggle in pains; pains I inflicted on her.
She still found strength to draw me close to her.
"I'm sorry, Mum. I did this to you".
"I forgive you, son".
She held my face in her palms. She kissed my forehead.
"I love you son. I know you won't hurt me intentionally".
I just sobbed softly in her embrace.
"Aggie, tell Swheiz to forgive him".
"Yes, ma'am".
She held my face up in her hands.
"Listen to me. I want you to become the strong King I raised you to be".
"Never forget who you are. Never forget whose you are...,".
I just sobbed softly in her palms.
She kissed my forehead again.
"...And never forget Momma loves you".
I felt her hands grow weak. I looked up.
Just quick enough, to catch the painful sight of her breathing her last.
"Mooooooooom" I yelled.
