Chapter 44 - Chapter 44

Rosetta looked incredibly beautiful for her date. Before she left, Lucifer used his blood to create a necklace for her. It was a broken piece of obsidian tied around a thin iron chain.

It was a very cheap-looking piece of jewelry, but this is what Lucifer was all about. Apollo was raving about how ugly the jewelry he had given to Rosetta was but she had accepted his gift with an open heart and thanked him.

"May Eros' arrows pierce the hearts of these two lovers," Apollo said when they got to the study room to do the assignment from the day before.

"Who's Eros?" Lucifer asked. He's never heard of this name before.

"One of Aphrodite's children," Artemis explained.

'Aphrodite has children?' Lucifer thought. "Is the blacksmith the father?" he asked out of curiosity.

"No, Ares," Athena replied, sounding a bit disappointed.

"Oh," Lucifer said, pitying the blacksmith god. He fell in love with a selfish goddess.

"They are divorced," Athena said. "And Eros is the God of Carnal Love," she explained. "Also don't you hate Eros, Apollo?" she asked the God of Light.

'Carnal Love? What does that mean?' Lucifer said before realizing the meaning.

"I do dislike him, I can never forgive what he did," Apollo said. "But he has never dealt with Lucifer before."

"You are very petty," Athena said.

"And disgusting," Lucifer said. "Whatever he did to you was probably well deserved."

"Hey!" Apollo said to Lucifer before turning to Athena. "Also you aren't one to talk, Ms. Petty," he said. "You are almost as petty as Zeus."

Artemis agreed with Apollo and Athena saw her agreement. "Don't you dare agree Artemis, you are far more petty than Apollo is."

"I never said I wasn't," The Goddess of Hunt and the Moon replied. "I'm not just as petty as you," she said.

"But if there's something that we all can count on, is that none of us here are as petty as our friend over here," Apollo said mock bowing at Lucifer, who just growled at him.

"You're lucky I am not allowed to hit you," he said.

His holopad vibrates and Lucifer takes it out of his pocket, a wave of disappointment hits him. "Ugh," he said in disdain looking at his holopad.

"Who is it?"

"Phoenix's father," Lucifer replies. This is the first time this man is calling him. What does he want now?

"You--" Artemis was about to say something but Lucifer raised his hand signifying that she should be quiet.

He picks up the call. "What do you want?" he asked coldly.

"Is that the way to greet your father?" the man on the other side of the call said.

Lucifer laughs mockingly. "Please, you were barely a father figure in my life, so don't try flattering yourself," he said picking his nails.

Henry was fuming angrily with rage. Just as he was about to scold him for being shameless, Lucifer said, "You have five seconds to say whatever it is you want to say before I end the call," he said.

"Let's meet up," Henry said, not bothering to waste any time anymore. He had a feeling that this crude son of his was not lying.

Lucifer sat up a bit. "Oh," he said mischievously. "You want to see me?" he asked.

"Yes," Henry replies.

Lucifer hummed. "That's unfortunate," he said. "I don't want to see you."

With that Lucifer hangs up the call and returns the holopad to his pocket. "What were we talking about?" he asked the A-siblings. His holopad began vibrating, but he refused to pick it up.

"Aren't you going to pick it up?" Athena asked.

"No," Lucifer replies. "He'll stop calling when he's tired."

"Who is he?" Artemis asked.

Lucifer sighed. "He's the father of the owner of this body," he said. "He and his wife abandoned the poor soul because his secondary gender wasn't what they wanted," he explained.

Artemis was angered by the act of such irresponsible parents. She was about to her power to curse these irresponsible parents. But Lucifer noticed what she was about to do.

"I get that you are also a Goddess of Childbirth, children's lives are sacred in your presence," he said to Artemis. "But I was the one who promised to get revenge on Phoenix's parents and everyone who truly wronged him. Turning them into a stag and hunting them down won't satisfy me," he said.

"Making them suffer in the living realm and then sending them to the Nine Circles of Hell or Tartarus to continue their suffering is only benefitting," Lucifer said. "Besides I know the reason why he is calling, his big business is having some problems and he is probably getting checked by the Empire's security, he wants me to speak to Augustus to help him or something."

"I did this when I remembered him two days ago," Lucifer said.

"You truly are very petty," Athena said.

"Eh," Lucifer said. "I suppose it runs in the blood."
