Alice sat in the living room waiting impatiently for her brother to come. "I'm sure His Highness would soon arrive, princess," one of the servants with her in the living room said.
"He knows I'm around," she said folding her hands and pouting angrily.
"Quit acting like a child, Alice," she heard Augustus' cold voice and she turned around to see her brother looking at her annoyed.
She sees her brother's fiancé. He looks beautiful. A lot more beautiful than she is. He also looks like an omega.
"Alice, this is Phoenix," Augustus said introducing his sister to Phoenix. "Phoenix," he said looking at him. "This is my younger sister, Alice."
Alice noticed something was strange about her brother. She didn't know what it was until she saw he was holding hands with Phoenix.
She was very certain that her brother wouldn't want to be anywhere near his fiancé, most especially knowing that his parents were using him to get close to the royal family.
"Good evening, princess," Phoenix said shyly in a low voice.
He sounds so cute but doesn't seem to be her brother's type. Although, her brother has never truly been with anyone, what does she know about her brother's type?
"Good evening," she replies.
"Dinner has already been served," Augustus said, turning around with Phoenix.
He was uncomfortable with Alice's eyes on him. It was curious yet threatening. He wants to retaliate her glares but now is not the time.
He decided to ignore her and continued to eat. He may be Phoenix right now, but he's not going to allow the stares of some girl to make him not eat the food he prepared alongside Rosetta.
He took a bite of the food and he was in awe. It tastes good. It tastes very good.
The dining table was silent and the only sound that was heard was the sound of the cutleries hitting the plate.
"Why haven't Mom and Dad returned yet?" Augustus asked Alice.
"I don't know, " Alice said, her words were a bit muffled though because there was still food in her mouth. Augustus looks at her feeling a bit disgusted by his sister's lack of manners. "Dad said something about the scientists on Earth discovering the reason for the disasters that happened yesterday," Alice replied then she thought for a while. "The disasters happened yesterday, right? " she asked.
"Yes," Augustus replies, nodding his head.
Alice sighed exhausted, "Time on Earth flows a lot faster than here," she said placing her hands underneath her cheek and playing with her food for a while.
Phoenix quietly listened to Alice speak calmly. It didn't matter to him if he was discovered to be the cause of the disasters, he could always erase the memories of everyone in the Empire. An easy spell for him.
Besides it is unlikely that humans would figure out the cause of the disasters since they don't know anything about the past and are no longer close to the gods.
"By the way, you were caught in the disaster yesterday," Alice said turning back to Phoenix.
"Huh?" Phoenix said raising his head from his food.
"You were caught in the disaster yesterday, " Alice repeats herself. "Are you alright?"
Phoenix smiled a bit. "Yes, I'm fine now, thank you for asking, Princess," he said.
Alice was still looking at him suspiciously. "You are too fragile-looking to be a beta," she said. "Are you sure you aren't an omega?"
Phoenix was about to reply when Alice said looking at him coldly, "Lying to the royal family is a very punishable offense, so don't even think about lying."
Phoenix also smiled coldly, the red streaks in his eyes glowed a bit. "If I were an omega do you think I would be here?" he said still sounding polite. "I am not an omega and I don't enjoy lying." 'Don't compare me to your kind, you measly insect.'
Alice saw this and was about to say something else, but Augustus did something that caused her to shut up and become pale in fear.
"Mind yourself, Alice," he said emotionlessly to her, his eyes were colder than ice. Even Lucifer could feel it down his spine.
"It seems like you've been lacking some manners, the driver will be sending you back to the palace tonight... You are continuing your manners class in the morning, hopefully, you will be able to learn some manners the next time you come over to visit."
Alice pouts angrily and mutters, "That's not fair, I'm your sister."
Soon dessert came in and everyone was served except Phoenix. Rosetta gave him a look and his face became pale. She kept her promise from this morning. He pouts angrily and mutters, "This is so unfair."
Rosetta then laughed a bit and placed a plate in front of him. It was half the size of the others, but he still had a plate. Phoenix smiled brightly and began to dig in. 'If I could ever go to heaven, this is how I want to be welcomed,' he thought.
He watched as positive emotions moved toward him from Rosetta. He instinctively blocked it with his aura.
Augustus felt this and looks at Phoenix who is eating cheerfully. He had felt this same aura when he was back on Earth, moments after the disaster. 'Interesting,' he thought, the look on his face didn't change a bit before he took a bite of his food. It is a bit sweet, but he doesn't think it is as sweet as Phoenix's own, he can smell the sweetness coming from his dessert.
Phoenix finished his before the siblings and felt a bit sad. He wishes he could just rewind time for that one moment and re-eat his dessert again.
Alice pushed hers towards him and said, "You can have it."
He smiles so brightly as his face glows. "Thank you!" he said happily and continued to eat. It is less sweet than his own. But it doesn't matter he got more.
Augustus too pushes his own to Phoenix looking at his sister blankly. "I'm full," he simply said.
"This is the third best day of my life," Phoenix said in bliss as his eyes shimmered.
