Ginny looked away from his blazing gaze. She was getting goosebumps and a dry throat for some reason. She swallowed and pulled her hand out of Godwin's grip. "Hello, Mr. Tim," she greeted him in a low voice.
"Sweetheart? Who's this...man?" Godwin asked with a disapproving scowl on as he looked Tim up and down.
"Sweetheart?" Tim repeated Godwin's name of endearment with a smirk as stalked over with his hands in his pockets. "Shouldn't you be calling your wife that instead of someone else's future wife?"
Godwin ground his teeth and fisted his hands looking ready to beat Tim down. "Mind your own business and stay out of mine!" he seethed.
Tim chuckled, "Ohh? So looking at yourself, you think you're a man? Boy, I advise you to walk away now before you start something you can't finish."
Ginny backed away from them as things got heated. She didn't know what she could do but staying there was not something she was willing to do. Wether Tim or Godwin leaves first, she would still be in a bad spot. She didn't want to be left alone with either of them.
The first door she came to, she pushed in and closed it softly behind her. She sighed as she leaned against the closed door with her eyes closed. Why couldn't she catch a break today at least? It was her sister's engagement party for crying out loud but as soon as she arrived there's already drama.
Maybe with the gift thing she could have handled it better but she was just trying to look out for herself, nothing more. Why did Godwin come after her just because of a gift? He could have given it to her later with her sister. If it had been like that, she would have taken it. Why did he opt to give it to her alone?
Then there's Tim who popped out of nowhere. What was he doing fighting like that with Godwin? He hates her, doesn't he? So why would he do something that could be misunderstood as him protecting her or coming to her rescue?
Ginny shook her head to clear her running mind, Tim was a man and she didn't understand men so she should not try to understand him.
She opened her eyes and realize she had found the toilet after all, only that it was the wrong one. This was a men's toilet
She gasped as she scurried out like a monster was after her. She bumped into a wall as soon as she stepped out. As soon as she realized the wall was made of human flesh she stepped aside, too embarrassed to even face the person. She lowered her head, uttered an 'excuse me' and tried to escape before she was recognized or asked questions she couldn't answer.
"I didn't know you were this obsessed with the male specie, Gin."
Ginny stopped in her tracks without turning around, she already knew who it was and thought, 'Ohh great! Of all the people I can bump into at this embarrassing moment, it just had to be him.'
Wanting to be as far from him as fast as possible, she half bowed, half nodded and proceeded to leave.
Seeing this, Tim fumed, he followed her and blocked her way before she got anywhere forcing her to stop. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?!"
Ginny turned in the opposite direction and walked back in the direction of the toilet she just exited. She had to get away from this man before someone saw them. For all she knew, Godwin could have gone to bring her father since he wasn't in the passageway anymore.
Tim smirked as he watched her hurry away from him. It was funny how she thought she could get away from him without his permission. Yesterday, he had allowed her to get away. He even called an Uber for her.
Today was another story, he was going to get answers to questions he didn't ask and the ones he had.
He followed right behind her, caught up to her with a few strides and dragged her with him into a room he knew was not a toilet.
Ginny eyes went wide as Tim dragged her into the room. She pulled her hand as she tried to pry his open to no avail. She stopped walking, tried to use her body against his pull but he was too strong for her. She got in the room in the end anyway.
'This is bad.' she thought as she tried to keep herself together.
"Mr. Tim? I can't be here with you. Let me go, we can talk outside at the party," she said in a shaky voice. This was not what she was looking forward to at her sister's engagement party. She had thought that as long as her parents approved of her dress, everything else would be so much fun.
Tim looked at her and he wasn't moved by her shaky state. "Explain yourself first. What was the meaning of that nod?"
Ginny swallowed, "It meant 'whatever you say, Mr. Tim'. Can I go now?"
"What the heck! So you're obsessed with the male specie? Is that what you are trying to tell me?"
Ginny frowned at his angry tone. Surely he couldn't be angry with her, besides she has nothing to do with him. "Mr. Tim? Why are angry?"
Tim clenched his jaw, he was angry but even he didn't understand why. And for some reason he felt like he had been caught stealing cookies from a cookie jar.
"If it's about the man I was talking to earlier, he's my brother-in-law. He was trying to give me a gift and I told him to give it to my parents first. That's why you found him holding my hand," she explained, though she had no reason to. "Now, I really have to get going. I wouldn't want people to misunderstand us."
"He's your brother-in-law?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
Ginny nodded.
"So you aren't into married men?"
"Yes, Mr. Tim, I wouldn't try to hook you up or whatever it's called. Rest assured," she gave him a stiff smile and walked past him to the door.
Tim stepped aside and let her go. He wasn't convinced and he knew what he saw. She might have been uncomfortable with the man's attention but he recognized the look of greed in the man's eyes. That brother-in-law wanted her and he would have tried something if he had not showed up when he did.
He shook his head feeling like he should beat himself up. Why was he even worried about her? Why did he do what he did?
He took a deep breath as he looked around the conference room, "I need a drink," he muttered under his breath.
