Chereads / GINNY / Chapter 13 - 12

Chapter 13 - 12

The rest of the party was fun but Ginny was on edge. She stayed away from her brother-in-law and her parents were way too happy to bother with her. Especially her mother who was busy with her new inlaw, Jack's mother. Her father was way too occupied with their few relatives who made it and his few friends who he managed to invite, at Nissy's approval of cause.

There were less than fifty people in attendance and most of them were people she knew. Ginny had invited her friend but it seemed like she didn't make it. As she looked around from her seat in the corner where they had arranged high stools for two, she saw an elegantly dressed woman in her early thirties walking her way and she smiled at her.

"Hi, Ginny. Long time no see."

"Hello, Mrs. Balogun. How have you been?" Ginny enquired as stood to greet her. She had met her through doctor Donovan at the hospital. Ginny liked her a lot, she was very kind, cheerful, gentle and gorgeous woman. Though they had met only a few times they were becoming fast friends.

"I have been good and you?" Mrs. Balogun asked cheerfully.

Glad that she had met someone she could actually be comfortable with at the party, Ginny invited her to sit with her and she gladly accepted. "I can see that you are doing much better than the last time we met."

Mrs. Balogun beamed, "Yes, it's because..." she looked around, leaned over and whispered, "...i'm pregnant."

Ginny gasped with surprise but then she remembered her health condition and her emerging smile died at once. She looked at her worried if this was a good call, "But..."

Mrs. Balogun smiled gently, taking Ginny's cheek in her hand, "What am I going to do with you? I feel reassured just knowing that someone is this worried about me. Don't worry, I didn't do anything the doctor doesn't approve of. But...if something were to happen to me, leaving my little baby in your hands would give me such peace I will rest without a worry."

Ginny gave her a stern look, "Nothing is going to happen to you! Stop talking about something happening to you, Mrs. B!"

Mrs. B chuckled, "I know, dear. Speaking of which, I have a preposition for you."

"Ohh? What's that?" Ginny asked interested to here what she was about to say.

Mrs. B smiled, "I always love your enthusiasm. I would love for you to be my-"

"Hey, ladies?"

They both turned to the source of the voice that had interrupted them at such a moment. Ginny sighed at the sight of Tim. She didn't want to see him for the next century but here he was. She hoped he wasn't there to humiliate her in front of Mrs. B.

"You are here already? What about Jack?" Mrs. B asked him a clear sign that they knew each other well.

"He will be fine, his bride is stuck to his side. Besides, I missed you, wifey," said giving her a kiss on her cheek.

Ginny looked away feeling like an unwanted spectator. Looking at them, they looked sweet and loving. They looked like a good match.

'I guess Tim hates me for a reason, I wonder what it is. At least he's good to his wife.' Ginny thought with a smile, still not looking at them.

"What got you smiling, Gin?" it was Tim's voice right next to her ear. She turned to him, startled but his face was too close their noses touched startling her further that she almost fell out of her seat.

Tim caught her waist before she could embarrassed herself but now she was being held by a man in an inappropriate way and way now closer than before. His breath fanned her face with his eyes staring right into her's. Her breath caught and she chewed on her bottom lip as her heart hammered against her chest.

Tim took her face in, noting the lip she was chewing. He wanted to free that lip, make sure it was alright and then kiss it. He saw so aware of her, her sweet scent, her lack of breath, her wild heart and her quivering body. He wanted her to stay next to him like this, forever.

"Th-th-thank you, Mr. Tim," she stammered as she pushed away his hand from across her stomach. Instead of just removing his hand, he dragged his fingers across her tummy making her shiver with a foreign feeling and he enjoyed that.

Tim cleared his throat a few times before he answered, "Sure thing."

"I blame you for this though. If you had not startled her like that, she wouldn't have needed saving. Don't you agree, dear?" Mrs. B spoke, defusing the awkward atmosphere.

Tim moved away from Ginny and took a seat on the other side of Mrs. B. "Yes, it was my fault. I shouldn't have came so close to you, Gin." It almost sounded like an apology, "It's always a bad idea anyway," he added in a low voice.

Mrs. B smiled, looked to her like Ginny unsettled dear Tim, a lot. "So you two know each other?"

Ginny hoped Mrs. B didn't misunderstand the situation. "Yes, we met yesterday in Lagos," she finished with an awkward laugh.

"Ohhhh, I see," Mrs. B pulled at her words like she saw more than just what she was implying. "Ginny is a good friend of mine too, we met some weeks back at the hospital."

"That's good," was all Tim said. His eyes and brain were on Ginny making her squirm in her seat.

Ginny swallowed, her heart had slowed down and she could breath much easier but Tim's gaze was heating her body up. 'Why is he staring at me? He should be looking at his wife.' she thought silently and said out loud, "You two make a good looking couple."

Mrs. B laughed softly, "You think-" she started but Tim interrupted her.

"Thanks." He understood what she was trying to do and he wanted that too but it wasn't easy for him to do. Letting her build a wall between them was probably better for them both.

Mrs. B gave him a questioning look but said nothing. She looked back at Ginny and smiled at her thinking, 'Life's about to get exciting.'
