Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

In Godremic there were hundreds of different styles, stances, and 'moves' so many and so perfectly that it was said by the scholarly tribe of Gregiken, that 'if they had spent even a fraction of the time on the study of stars, they would map the galaxy; if they spent it on science, they would understand time and space itself; if they spent it on knowledge, they would understand, instead, they mastered death'.

The current stance Aleister adopted was similar to earth's Horse Stance except his body was facing away and to the left, with his left hand at the top middle of the staff while his right was at the bottom of the middle, mirroring him, the woman had the same stance except it was the opposite.

After a minute some of the students got confused at the complete and utter lack of movement, while also looking at the sweating woman and the cool as a cucumber king, the first movement was a twitch from the Aleister's right leg prompting a pre-counter from the woman yet no attack came until it was too late and a swing came barreling from the left completely snaping her staff in half and in an extreme stroke of luck or an act of mercy Aleisters staff never hit the woman.

Stepping back she looked at two different pieces of wood, entering a completely new stance with her new shorter staves Aleister tilted his head before bringing his stave to his knee also snapping it in half. As if Aleister was not willing to get into another staring match he slowly walked to her with his two new shorter sticks.

In a clash her left staff collided with his right below while the opposite happened above, in a flurry of attacks, the woman skillfully recognized Aleister's weak spots and deftly attacked them only to be blocked and counter-attacked with an evenly matched skill of exploiting weaknesses, with the fierce shatter of her left staff and Aleisters right staff in a collision they were down to only one shorter staff with a pointy edge due to the splintering.

Seeing that it was quickly leaving her area of expertise from a staff fight to multiple staffs and eventually to what would be a fist fight which was horrendous for her while very good for the king who specialized in it, she quickly backed off and surrendered saving atleast a bit of her reputation as one of the most skilled staff fighters.

Normally in an actual match, the staff would be metal, even though wood can crush bone just as easily they break faster meaning unless it's a fight between two unequal individuals then the staff would usually break before any serious life-threatening injuries could occur. With metal staffs, such a limit doesn't exist meaning although the match between Aleister and the woman would last longer the chance of an injury not necessary for a demonstration would skyrocket.

And for the next hour he completely dominated each time, from the awed perspective of the audience it was due to an obvious greater level of physical skill, however, the more senior students and the teachers understood it differently, mental skill was how he was beating everyone. In fact, it was only in the fist fight against the two old men, the dual sword fight against the younger man that looked around Aleister's age, and the regular sword fight against the many who chose that way of fighting, that Aleister generally had a physical skill advantage as those are the things he most practiced and used in the conquests of Trir'aith on Vore.

With all of the teachers defeated something clicked in Aleisters head and he breathed an almost two-minute breath out, it was at this moment that all of the students realized that was the first time they saw him breathe out for a full hour something that even shocked all of the teachers.

"A useful skill, yet holding your breath for that long after such a long time of using it is difficult" Aleister muttered while wiping a small bit of blood off of his lip, with clear eyes he turned to the almost scared group of students. Even though they were students they all were the cream of the crop, people who will go on to become instructors themselves something they knew and had given them an ego, yet when they saw someone effortlessly defeat people who taught them and could defeat them just as effortlessly they were humbled.

The skill Aleister used wasn't common at all and only a few people could use it, but that doesn't mean it was uncommon with many of the teachers being able to use it just not as skillfully and as long as Aleister, the reason they didn't use it was because of a prearranged agreement, Aleister was there to break egos and show them what skill meant not get into 20 half-hour long fights meaning while yes he would most likely still beat them it wouldn't be that easily.

Understanding the risks and that they might be brutally beaten they walked forward in groups of twenty, not because of the risks but because they would be instructed by who they believed to be the best practitioner of Godremic to ever exist.

"You all do not have to fret, I will limit the injuries to a reasonable level" Aleister laughed.

Too which four people out of the first group of 20 walked out, similar to the guards from the science district the group of students almost instantly were defeated when Aleister actually fought back instead of just dodging. laying on the ground with slight injuries from attacks that would have crippled or killed an earthling. Pulling out a note pad something that had to be custom made, Aleister began to write a list of things he would recommend them to do within a training regiment along with fixes in attitude and easily readable and punishable habits they had.

When 44 of the non-adult students were on the ground with some of them rubbing their shins furiously or they were massaging their shoulders with a squint in their eye, only one remained. Unlike the fearful and hesitant students in the last part, this one was completely cool and collected walking up before taking a stance very rarely used.

With an extended left hand and a tight right hand, Aleister sharply smiled at the sight. Even though he knew of it he had never fought against a practitioner of the 'dirty hands' a style widely hated and thought of as cowardly due to its use of the left hand obscuring the vision of the enemy.
