It was so late at night. Luke had fallen asleep at the back seat. We had such a good time talking and laughing. They have a wolves sanctuary. They have an endangered species of wolf in their hands. They need someone that loves animal to help sort the names. Vaccinations. If in heat or if one got into a fight. A personal assistant to the CEO of the place. They will have a problem in court soon so they need a secretary desperately as they need all documentation ready and in order. He has been having problems as what he wants has not been found. But seeing as they believe in Fate and they seeing me twice. They felt it was a sign for them to ask me about the position.
In the end I wanted to think about it so Ashton is dropping me off home. I wasn't allowed to pay my side of the bill and Luke added me a sweet chocolaty desert for me to bring home. They even gave me their meals for me to save up. They say they don't waste food but their very forgetful so they allowed me to take it. As I was getting out of the car I felt something tap at my shoulder. I looked back confused.
"Here... This isn't the full contract or anything special but it will help you decide better... Our location and card information is in there as well as Luke's number and my own" he explains gently
I hold the back of food with my other hand and grabbed the envelope so I say with a gentle smile "Thank you... I'll call you when I have made my choice"
"We'll be expecting your call Miss Kira..." he sounds so polite
I got out of the vehicle and I shut the door gently. Expensive car. I don't want to damage it. I don't have money to fix any part of it. He waves good bye and I waved back. Luke is still knocked out. It made me giggle and I started walking into the building. Sneaking basically. I don't know if my mother is still here. The landlord is in the front desk as usual reading a newspaper. She stared at me and just scoffs. This lady doesn't like woman at all. I remember she thought I was staring at her husband and she almost kicked me out. A week later I showed her what I was looking at and she just didn't believe me but accepted the lie. I felt comfortable in this place when I first moved here. But I feel like moving again.
But if I accept this job offer maybe. Just maybe I'll move near by. But I'd have to change my phone number again. I don't want to see her anymore. When she appears bad luck always happens. Like today. She appeared and I panicked so much that my panicking almost got me killed. I sighed out in frustration. I walked up the stairs and saw nobody. No sound. Pure silence. Once I got to the third floor. Nobody was in the hallway. So I power walked to my door. Unlocking it. Good it's still locked. I quickly entered and I looked at my empty home. So dark. So empty. I sighed out. I locked the door and made sure it was double locked. I turned on the light and still the same.
Empty. Silent. Depressing. Home. I sighed out and went to my table. I placed the bag of food on the table and I got the desert out and I placed everything else in the refrigerator. I noticed the milk. Is it still good? As I placed the food containers correctly I grabbed the jug of milk. It was half way and it had a white like around the plastic. I mixed it up as I wanted to make sure about the smell. It expires in three days but let's make sure. I uncapped it and when I got my nose near it I almost vomited. The smell is putrid. I drained it quickly in the sink and turned the faucet on. I coughed a bit as I didn't want to vomit.
I closed the jug and threw it inside the trash can. I sighed out annoyed. I looked around at my small apartment. It's so quiet. I thought I was already use to this but after today. Seeing Ashton and Luke play that way. Laugh. Smile. Bicker between each other. I felt lonely. I grabbed my phone and looked at the time. 'I didn't expect it to be 9:57pm... I think time flew by...' I removed the Do Not Disturb mode on my phone and it started freezing up. This time I had an unknown number messaging me. A few spams calls. But mostly my mother. She must be pissed off out of her mind.
My curiosity is. Who gave my number to my mother? I groaned out and I just wanted to throw my phone out the window. But I needed the phone anyways. I removed all the notifications. Ignoring everything. I'll leave the evidence of my mom spamming me in my phone's library. I want to block her so bad but she'll just get a new number and just it all over again. She doesn't care that I don't want to see her. She's a monster. She only wants money. She must be pissed of that I had gained weight. I looked at the table and kept staring at the piece of envelope. Maybe destiny has its ways.
I grabbed a fork from the clean dish rack and washed it just for in case. I sat down with my desert ready to eat it. I opened the container with a slightly melted ice cream with a hard chocolate cover. It's a browny type of cake. It looks a bit warm. My mouth started watering and I felt excited. So I took a piece of the chocolaty goodness and I started eating it. It tasted amazing. I grabbed the envelope with my other hand and just opened the little latch. I placed the fork down and I pulled out the bunch of papers.
First thing I see is their Logo with title. It had a beautiful wolf design on it. But their Sanctuary is named Lexious Wolves. It was a weird name but it so cool at the same time. I started reading each page. I had to read it slowly as it's mostly words. I don't need to sign anything. Then I reach half way through. It was the payment area. I almost chocked on my delicious chocolate goodness. Is this for real?
"$200,000 yearly... That's so much!" I basically say to myself
I am basically getting paid nearly $4,000 a week. I have enough for me to even start studying and this is the personal secretary position. Is this literally a job offer? Or are they wanted something more? But at this moment I don't care. That's the money I need to pay off everything. Even the loan I got. Is Destiny on my side? Is this a new path? I am totally accepting this. I quickly sent a message to Scarlet to come over asap. I want to show her this. If I get hired she can get hired as well. She'll be able to pay off her student debt. This job is perfect. It took ten minutes. Someone was knocking at my door.
I placed my sweet desert in the freezer because of the ice cream. I opened the door and there stood a tired Scarlet.
"I still can't believe they haven't fixed the elevator!" she complains a little
She had a bat in hands "Girl... I know we have a code but I literally have good news!"
I shut the door "Alright go ahead"
"I may have gotten a job offer... Working with wolves" I tell her a bit cheerful
She looks skeptical "Ain't that dangerous?"
"Yeah but I won't be actually working with wolves... I'll be a personal secretary to a CEO!" I say excited
The bat drops from her hand in utter shock "Are you for real!"
"Yes! They gave me their information it's on the table
Scarlet quickly snatches the bunch of paper work and started reading over it. She is a fast reader as she loves reading books. When she reached the payment area the bunch of papers collide with the floor. She starts pacing back and forth. She wanted to tell me something but she shook her head. I knew she must be confused but she looks very much confused. So she takes out her phone and I presume she googled their name. She started tapping on her phone and her skin started getting paler and paler. What is she looking at?
"You met the CEO right?" she asked with a cracked voice
"Yeah... And his friend" I say with a smile
She shows me her phone and a picture of Luke is shown "Him?"
"Yeah that's him!" I say with a smile
"You just stumbled with the richest man in this area... I feel like worldwide! But secrets are always kept for a reason but his filthy rich... Billionaire type of rich!" she says as her face slowly returned to normal
"He saved me basically so that's how I met him... Well we saw each other at the bakery and then he saved me" I say a bit shy
"Your the luckiest woman alive! This man is completely and utterly single... No woman has been able to touch him or him touch a woman!" she tells me excited
"Girl... Calm your horses it's a job offer... It's nothing relationship wise" I try to defend but my face is heating up
"Are you sure about that?" she taunts with a smirk
I push her while squealing "I hate you!"
