Chapter 7 - Smiles graciously

Agent Ward quickly looks at the time, it was almost 3:30am so they would have had to leave soon anyway and so what was Forty minutes earlier he thought. He quickly grabs his bag of weapons and Diviya's hand, safely leading them underground and covering their tracks as they pressed forward.

Diviya's heart was beating wildly, eyes darting every which way as they moved forward in this dark, wet and creepy tunnel. Plus there was the awful smell of sewer.

Some time later Diviya let out the deep breathe that she was holding as they made it out into the car park on the other side and quickly made their way to the hidden vehicle. "How did they find us?" She whisper yell after calming her racing heart.

Agent Ward shook his head as he was at a loss himself with that question. Giving the routes they took and the couple of tails they successfully shook off, how were they still tracked? Agent Ward didn't have the answer. He just stares at her and shrugs saying "I honest to god don't know."

Diviya was scared for her life, she realized for herself in this short space of time that these people wanted her. There was no denying it, for whatever the reason she did not know but she knew they desperately wants her and will stop at nothing. That sent a shiver down her spine and not in a good way.

She was leaving her life behind. Her education, her one college friend she didn't get to say goodbye to and she couldn't say goodbye, not really. Because she didn't want people to know where she was going or that she was leaving in the first place.

Reaching the vehicle they wasted no time in getting in and soon after Agent Ward was on the road to the borders of Velia Gizem.

*******************************

Diviya's life was upended she felt the weight of that as she head towards the border of the Demon Alpha's territory. Velia Gizem.

Though they could have been driving for about two hours it seemed like it was only a thirty minute journey. As they approach the border, Agent Ward informed her that they were close.

In response her heart rates picks up. Was she ready? She felt like she couldn't be ready because she felt she would be leaving her parents behind. But she was smart enough to know that was not the case, she simply could not stay here, she could not return to her home where she lived for the past twenty one years of her life.

Agent Ward parked the vehicle a little distance from the transport sent by the Demon Alpha. Both vehicles faced each other.

Looking over at Diviya he reached and took her hands she was squeezing in a death grip on her lap into his hands as he gently rubs it trying to give out some type of comfort.

Agent Ward didn't know what it was about Diviya but he felt the need to help her in any way he can, lucky for Diviya she did not end up in the hands of a corrupt Agent or Officer looking for a quick pay day.

"I am so sorry for your loss Diviya and I wish there was more that I can say or do that can give you some sort of comfort during this time, but I know things will get better", reaching into his pants he pulls out his wallet and took out a call card.

He reaches for her hands and secured the card safely in the palm of her hand and says, "call me at any time if you need anything, meanwhile I will look into your family funds and also check to see if there was any Insurance or anything that can give you some type of financial aid until you get on your feet. Ok?"

Agent Ward knew it was not his job to do this but he wanted to and if his influence can speed up the process for her he will do what he can.

Diviya was looking at the card placed in the palm of her hand and her eyes tears up again as Agent Ward mentions her parents again and a potential insurance that can aid her. She also felt so relieved to have met Agent Ward, that he was the one who intercepted her.

"Hey hey look at me," Diviya looks at him. "Everything will be ok," he tries to reassure her but of course he didn't want to make promises as he did not know what her future holds and with these types after her who knows where she might find herself. So no he didn't want to lie and promise her everything would be ok. He at least knew she would be safe.

Diviya shook her head as in that moment she was thankful to Agent Ward. She truly looked at the man for the first time. The man who is saving her right now. Helping her. Brown hair cut short, grey eyes, thick eyebrows, thick eyelashes, a bit tan in complexion, straight nose, strong jawline, middle aged, built.

She reached over and hugged him, "thank you Agent Ward, for everything, for keeping me safe and getting me to this point, I really don't what I would have done."

She sighs, "even thinking of Insurance that honestly was nowhere in my mind."

She pulls back slightly, pause and her eyes found his, "but you thought of it and everything else while I deal, so thank you." She finishes then leans in again and hugs him giving him a little pat on his back.

Diviya told herself she would have eventually thought of it, may have even wondered if her parents had made arrangements for if something were to happen to them or to her, nevertheless she was still thankful.

Agent Ward was taken aback slightly that it took him a moment before he responded to the hug. He quickly caught himself and embraced her.

"Hey kiddo now now, stop with your sappiness," Agent Ward says after pulling away, and he smiles trying to make light of the situation. "Don't worry about it, just doing my job, you just be sure to take care of yourself ok."

Diviya gave a weak smile and then promise to take care of herself.

Agent Ward asked Diviya one more time if she was ready and this time she says, "Yes I am."

"Ok wait, let me go have a chat with my buddy Carlton. I think it's him who was sent this time. But let me check it out to be sure." Agent Ward says before getting out of the vehicle and strolling across to the other.

Diviya watched the back door of the vehicle across from her open for Agent Ward to get in.

He did.

A short while later Agent Ward emerges from the vehicle and he calls Diviya over.

Diviya took a deep breath in and she let it out before she took up her hand bag, which had the dirty clothes she took off last night when she showered and she at least had her ID card, her bank card, a credit card and $120.00 cash in her purse.

She wore the same t shirt from last night, surely it's Wards and a grey sweat pants. Diviya really couldn't care less about her appearance right now and her mouth was in need of a good brushing. Even though many would call her beautiful just like this, or pretty, for Diviya is a very pretty young lady.

But right now her looks was not a thought and truthfully she was just numb really, to her right now she was just being handed over from one protector to the other, she looks over at Agent Ward, gets out of the vehicle and walks over to the other vehicle.

Stopping abruptly in front of him she grabs his hands and squeeze it just like he did with her earlier and thanks him again then ask that he check in on her from time to time.

He squeezed her hands and says "don't mention it kiddo, of course I would."

Diviya visibly relaxed at his reassurances and then she was introduced to the two occupants of that Black Mercedees Benz.

One of them was indeed Agent Ward's contact Carlton and Diviya felt slightly at ease. Very slightly, it was just his contact not Agent Ward himself. But she understood that this is as far as he can go with her.

Diviya bids Agent Ward farewell and told him to be safe, in which he chuckles and says "no, you be safe and don't worry I will".

Diviya smiled at Agent Ward, Agent Ward close the door and made his way back to the vehicle he came here in. Then Diviya looks at the two strangers in front of her and she smiles graciously.
