Chapter 12 - Personal Attack

Drew did not say anything else he went scampering out of the room when the Demon Alpha picks up his phone and calls Dracul.

Dracul is his best friend and confidant, the only person The Demon Alpha trust. And now that someone is actively fighting against him trying to tarnish his standings with the humans he only trusted Dracul to really investigate this with him.

Sadly to say not even his Beta Drew, and he is even more suspicious of his Beta just for the fact that he had 'nothing'? How is that even possible, not even a trace, a scent nothing? No suspects nothing? Someone must have heard or seen something.

He sighs maybe he was being paranoid, but then again he did not survive for millenniums by playing it safe and not going through every single possible scenarios. He didn't survive this long by just taking someone's word for it, no he himself investigates secretively and gathers his own set of evidence seeing where it leads and get the confirmations he needs himself.

He'd done this so many times throughout the milleniums and it's not the first time people came at him and it will not be the last, the Demon Alpha knew it was inevitable.

So the way he sees it, this time it should be no different. He must find these witnesses and get to the bottom of what's going on.

'Knock, Knock'

A soft knock sounded from the door of his room, "come in" the Demon Alpha acknowledges.

Strolling into the room casually he shoves his hand in his pocket. "What's going on bud, you sound a bit strange". Concern etched on his handsome face and tone of voice.

Dracul had neck length blonde hair, eyes a piercing shade of gold and a well built jawline. He was truly handsome.

Dracul knew his friend and he knows something has to be terribly wrong for this reaction and the fact that he can also feel the darkness seeping out of him in floods of waves.

"Someone is attacking the witness program," The Demon Alpha spits out through gritted teeth, barely containing himself, he was so outraged.

He paced.

"The witness program? Are you sure?" Dracul queried.

"Of course I am sure," but he wasn't really, there was a report of two witnesses missing. In all honesty there can be other reasons why, but the thing is those reasons seems so out of reach, though it was not impossible.

It was possible that this was related to the direct case itself, the case that brought these witnesses here in the first place. Maybe they were found, but two of them at the same time? Seems farfetched, he refused to believe that's the reason. It has to be him, he is the reason.

A personal attack on him!

The Demon Alpha steps close to Dracul and whispers "I want you to go over to the location of the second witness and I will go over to the first witness that went missing, let's see if we can sniff out anything at all, let's ask around discreetly and question all who we can. We move out 2am."

Dracul agreed, he will follow the Demon Alpha anywhere and this time it's no different. He will always have his back. Many came into the Demon Alpha's life over the millenniums only just to deceive him in the end. Betrayal, after betrayal he endured but he learned deeply, the Demon Alpha learned.

And he was his friend and brother.

The Demon Alpha wanted to be alone and sensing this Dracul slips out of the room when the Demon Alpha made his way out to the balcony and scaled up the walls to the roof top where he lay and look at the sky.

He was trying to calm the storm raging deep within, is this what the feeling was about, my inner instinct warning me that something sinister was at play here?

The Demon Alpha just didn't know, but he was not letting his guard down, not for a second.

1:45am came quickly, The Demon Alpha was dressed in a black form fitting long sleeve sweater and black pair of flexible trousers, a pair of black gloves with black combat boots. He looks at himself in the mirror approvingly, through on his coat and then made his way out the castle to meet with Dracul by the Castle gates.

They quickly made their exit splitting up and agreeing to meet back here in an hour's time.

The Demon Alpha, stealthily moved through the air using a bit of wind and travel magic to manipulate the air allowing him to flow through it easily and effortlessly. Not to mention quietly.

Earlier on the Demon Alpha got the information he needed from his Beta Drew, just copies of the both files in the case, he didn't want to ask specifics, like what's the address of the witness? Or anything at all that would give anyone the idea that he will be looking into this personally.

He scanned through the first file of the first witness that went missing and saw a name Sharon Winters. A picture as well to the top right it was a picture of the witness.

Blonde hair, honey brown eyes, round face, cute and he commits her look to memory, then he continue scanning. She is 35 years of age and is here because her husband is abusive and she seeks asylum.

She has been here for seven months now. She works at a Pharmacy in Botwolf Town and she lives around the corner from where she works.

The second witness has only been here for three months and she recently started college. Jenessa Mansfield 21 years of age, from the Mansfield Mafia, slim built dull brown hair, deep blue eyes. She witnessed her entire family gunned down by a rival mafia gang. She moves to our world and now lives outside Athans Town.

The only thing they both had in common was that they recently came into this program.

Both victims came less than a year.

The Demon Alpha already had a list of things he needed Dracul to look into in the morning, for starters a list of all Guards on duty when witnesses were brought in from a year ago.

No make it two years ago.

He also wanted a list of guards actually in the transport with the witness on their journey to Velia Gizem. Also the list of guards that ever worked guard duties for both witnesses since they both arrived here.

The Demon Alpha figures he must be able to dwindle that list down to a handful of guards and he will then personally pay each one of them a visit.

Nevertheless he closes in on the address for Sharon the first witness that went missing. She did not show up for work and the guard tower was alerted by her employer, we have protocols for these things.

So when she didn't show for work and calls to her phone went unanswered. Checks were made to see if any messages was left informing of any time off request or maybe she called in sick.

But those were not the cases and so he alerted the guard tower.

Then her apartment was immediately checked where they found her assigned guard at the time unconscious. Nothing was reported out of place except for a few things thrown about maybe from a scuffle.

The Demon Alpha lowered himself behind a tree on the lawn and made his way inside the apartment building unbeknownst to anyone. He got on Sharon's floor and slowly inch towards her room. Room 8.

Reaching the room the door was slightly ajar so the Demon Alpha pushes the door further in. Then the door decides to creaks a long a lazy whine.

He peeks in, eyes darting left to right surveying the room before him.

A couch, coffee table, on the wall a tv, a small fire place below, he saw a kitchen area to the back left corner, he took a step in and then another. No one is here, the place is empty and quiet, no heartbeat either. He relaxed a fraction and looks around.

Really and truly nothing out of the ordinary, but it is clear Sharon fought with her abductors.

She put up one hell of a fight.

He bent and picked up what looks like a broken button that is still clutching onto to a piece of fabric.

The Demon Alpha places it in a small plastic zip lock bag he pulls out that he brought along for collecting evidence.

He pulls out his flashlight now along with his sharp eyesight to carefully scan the area, looking for any stray away hair, or any finger prints that he can find on surfaces. He came up with nothing on the surfaces, only smudges and when checked no prints, he deduced they wore gloves. Obviously.
