Chapter 6 - The Motel

Again, Diviya thought this was way too much. How did her life go from zero to a hundred so quickly? She was slightly trembling with fear because she was freaked out of her mind.

She slowly reaches up as if unsure, taking his hand she allows him to grab her up and guide her to the room.

She looks around and saw the Motel. It was decent looking, painted in a fluorescent green. Though Diviya didn't have options to compare it too.

Getting into the room Diviya ran straight to the bathroom and sounds of retching and vomiting can be heard.

Meanwhile Agent Ward pulls out a clean white t shirt and grey sweat pants which he sets aside for Diviya. He figured she would want to have a bath after a long day like today.

He was right.

When Diviya finally emerges from the bathroom she asks Agent Ward if by some miracle he had something she can change into because she desperately wants to take a shower.

Agent Ward pointed at the t shirt and sweatpants he already laid out for her. Diviya picked it up with a relieved look and a grateful smile. She hurried back into the bathroom after thanking him and stripped taking a long shower trying not to think about her situation.

For a brief moment she was just someone taking a shower washing away a hectic day. She was not the girl who was on the run for her life and just said goodbye to her parents.

Parents who were murdered in cold blood!

Diviya basks in the feeling of the warm water soaking her from head to toe. She scrubbed, rinsed then got out. Dried and changed into the clothes Agent Ward gave her. Then she heads back into the room.

She looks around and saw that Agent Ward was not in here at the moment. The room has a window by the door where thick curtains shield the window from prying eyes.

Diviya strolls over and peeks out searching for Agent Ward but she saw only the Officer standing just outside the front door. She straightens the curtain and looks around the room.

She observes that it's a bright fluorescent Orange, 'what is with all these fluorescent colors she thought'.

She glance at the two beds and then looks over at a TV against the wall, a small fridge off to one corner of the room. Small table drawers by each bed head with a lamp embellishing it. Then she spots the remote at the foot of one of the beds.

Diviya walks across picks up the remote and turns on the TV, she skips channel after channel trying to settle on something or maybe nothing at all.

She just keeps scanning.

Not too long after Agent Ward steps back into the room holding a bag of goodies, some biscuits, potato chips, soda, bottle water and twinkies. Diviya tummy immediately growl as if on cue and she did grabby fingers for the bag of goodies.

Agent Ward gave it to her after he took out one of the bottle water and a pack of potato chips for himself.

Diviya took the bag, scanned the contents, she took out a Twinkie, potato chips and the pack of chocolate chip cookies with a soda. Then she dug right in leaving the TV on the channel it was on when suddenly the news came on and her parents face were splashed across the screen. It was a lovely photo of them together as a couple.

She flinched at the screen, then she saw her face up on the screen and her whereabouts was described as unknown and she was thankful for small mercies.

Agent Ward quickly grabs the remote and changed the channel but it was too late. She had seen it all and heard it all. They are describing their deaths as execution style.

Diviya continues to stuff her face as she now looks at the tv screen and what is now showing with just as much interest as a toddler.

Her mind keeps taking her back to earlier today in the kitchen talking to her mom, then to getting out of the taxi, then to trying to get away from the man in the suit to run to her parents lifeless bodies.

Diviya's mind kept going in circles and she was going to drive herself mad thinking about all the what if's. She tries to distract herself as she asks Agent Ward, "so what's next?

He looks at her and then after a beat he says "we stay here till the morning then we head to the border, a member from the Demon Alpha's territory will meet us there and we make the hand off. You would be safe. We just need to get through tonight."

He pauses to let that sink in. It was not like Diviya needed reminding of the situation she faced but he sure as hell would make sure she truly grasp the situation she was in. If it was only to save her from making stupid and rash decisions!

Though Agent Ward was handing her over he wanted her to continue to be vigilant and not get too negligent. Yes she will be safe but who knows how far this type of entity's reach is. She has to stay on guard at all times.

Diviya nods and takes a sip of soda, then she was back to thinking about the day.

Diviya was a wreck. Only a few hours ago she was happy to give her parents the news that she was getting the summer job where she will be able to shadow the billionaire CEO and gain experience and knowledge and most importantly she WILL get extra credits.

She worked so hard to make her parents proud of her and to prove to herself that she can do it. Despite that all-consuming feeling of not being wanted or being rejected by her biological parents, Diviya had purposed to make something of her life. Plus her parents encouraged and cheered her on every step of the way.

Their love, care and support has been Diviya's strength, they never made her feel unwanted or that she was ever alone.

Diviya was out of her element now, she had to grow up and be strong if she was going to survive at all. She had to be brave.

She had to really be strong, she just had to.

Somewhere during the night Diviya finally drift to sleep not being able to stay awake any longer. Boy did she fight to stay awake under the circumstances.

Sleep won in the end and a few hours later Ward had returned from his time on guard and he quickly settles into a light sleep. While the Officer now took his place once more.

About forty five minutes later, as the guard on the lookout bent sideways leaning slightly to take out his walkie talkie to inform Agent Ward of the black pickup truck that just pulled into the car park.

He was shot in the head and his body fell to the ground with a thud.

The walkie talkie was the tool for alert rather than heading to the door in return selling out the exact room they were in. Nevertheless Agent Ward slept very lightly and heard the thud of the body and the clang of the walkie talkie falling to the ground.

Which then caused Agent Ward who was just behind the door to stir slightly and opens his eyes, he yawns and stretches. Then he decides to take a quick look around before he settles back in his spot convinced he heard something.

He stood from the chair he was sprawled on and look towards the bed. Diviya was asleep, clutching a pillow for dear life. He peeks out the window of the motel room that's close to the door. He glanced around and his eyes caught the edge of the guard who was on duty's foot.

The foot just laid there lifeless, Agent Wards body tensed, he quickly looks up and around and saw two figures slowly crawling towards the room and he sprang into action.

Agent Ward crawls over to Diviya and wakes her up with his hands over her mouth motioning her to stay very quiet. He points to the door where there opponents would burst in from, then he points to where they would escape from.

The moment Agent Wards hands went over Diviya's mouth her eyes flew open and she remained wide eyed as she observes what he showed her. Understanding dawning on her she flew up almost knocking into Agent Ward. Diviya puts on her comfy flats quickly and grabs her hand bag. Diviya was thankful she chose the comfy flat sandals rather than her usual go to.

A pair of high heels.

There was a reason Agent Ward chose this particular motel, there is a secret passageway beneath this motel room that leads straight to a parking lot on the other side of the street where a car would be waiting for them with the spare keys in the glove compartment.

By the time their attackers realize what was going on Agent Ward and Diviya would already be far away. Not to mention their opponents not knowing which direction they went in, which it would then be too late for their attackers.

Diviya would have already been safely handed over to the Demon Alpha to protect.
