Chapter 2 - Chapter One

Lucian Anderson is a famous movie star with the most confusing mystery surrounding him. Nobody knew neither the background nor the current lifestyle of the thirty-one-year-old actor. Only what was portrayed on screen gave the viewers of his works a slight idea of who he was. Standing six feet and four inches tall, the star was only ever seen on set or at famous parties and events to which he was invited and was titled the most eligible bachelor five years in a row and counting. Not to mention his muscled frame that must have been carved by the gods themselves and the face of a prepossessing angel of death. He was never seen with a partner nor children so most assumed he was a rather lonely man or he preferred to keep his family a secret if he had any.

Lucian was spotted entering his usual British Maclaren after a short interview on The Late Night Show, when a call came in on his phone, almost slowing him down enough for the nosy paparazzi to capture a fuzzy image of him. He closed the door of his car and sped out of the space where he had parked and down the street, into the darkness. Once the distance between him and the studio was far enough to suit him, he finally answered his phone which was now becoming a nuisance.

"What," he answered, quite annoyed.

"Oi, no need to rush me like that, Anderson. I'm just delivering a message here," his agent, William Diaz answered back with an even less amused tone than his boss.

Lucian rolled his eyes, slowing the car to a cruise. "Yes, well get on with it."

William chuckled under his breath before explaining to him what he hoped would be good news to Lucian's ears. "Alright then. So, Mr. Barnes called earlier with a proposal. He has a script with your name on it and believe me when I say this is going to be a hit with you as the lead. The only problem is, that you will be sharing that role with an up-and-coming young star, Csilla Merikh. I'm sure you've heard about her once or twice."

"No. I've never heard of anybody with that name before, though it sounds oddly familiar. Remind me again why I'd be sharing the lead role with a newbie."

The other end of the phone went silent for a moment before the faint sound of pages turning broke the quietude. "Um, this says that you'll be matched with her in a steamy action-packed romance film based on future times. She is very elegant and becomes the character given completely. One can almost forget who she truly was once she takes on a character. It also says that she will definitely match up to your acting expertise if given the chance and they want you two to try out tomorrow at ten in the morning to see if sparks fly and that they have made the right choice pairing the two of you."

"Jesus, William, that still hasn't answered my question," Lucian hissed, fighting the urge to face palm. This agent was something else.

"Oh, you want my opinion..." William went silent for a second before clearing his throat and authoritatively answered his boss, not missing a beat. "I met her earlier today and she is damn fine. I have never seen anyone so bloody beautiful in my life and I swear I wanted to eat her alive then and there. She is the perfect match for you because the first time I met you, that was exactly how I felt."

Silence. A silence so loud it became deafening. Lucian stared blankly at the road as a clear memory of the first time he met his agent played like a long-forgotten film within his mind. William was the complete opposite of him. Five feet tall with salt and pepper hair styled into a simple crew cut. He almost always wore gray suits and a blood-red tie, intimidating the race he so loathed. Lucian had entered the room with his usual dazzling grace and poise only to freeze mid-step as it dawned on him that his soon-to-be agent was on the verge of salivating hungrily...sexual hunger.

"I'm sorry, but you asked, Luce."

"Forget I asked," he commented glumly, physically shaking the memory from his mind. "Anything else I should know about her?"

"Yeah...her scent is rather...uncomfortable. It's like, it drives me wild with hunger and at the same time, it makes me feel threatened, and alert. "

Lucian went silent for the umpteenth time that night and remained that way until he was parked within the safe haven of his enormous grand townhouse.

"We'll talk tomorrow after I meet her, Will. Goodnight."

"Sure. Goodnight. And don't think too much about it, I'm sure you are going to ace this movie."

The famous actor hung up his phone, took a deep breath of ultimate frustration, then exited his car, throwing the key to a member of his pack that had given up all to serve him. He signed a 'goodnight', which Lucian returned half-heartedly. The young cub was found half-dead near his home ages ago with his throat partially crushed and gushing blood, claw marks proving that a member of their own kind had assaulted him for reasons unknown. The traitor was never found, but Lucian ensured his pack members were always on high alert just in case he or she dared to try and finish the job.

Lucian entered the house, climbing the stairs to his room at a rather slow pace. The day was awfully boring, except for that call with William earlier that confused him to the core. Csilla Merikh. That name, where has he heard it before? It was said to him in his younger years by a friend of his family and it was banned from ever being said because it was thought to be a curse, an abomination. And yet that name rolled off his tongue, sweet as honey. He whispered the name to himself and instantly fell to his knees, planting his hands roughly into the wooden floor. A wave of heat washed over his entire body, settling in the pit of his stomach and weakening his joints. What was this? A curse, indeed. Lucian felt extremely hot and so bothered that he mindlessly ripped his shirt from his body. The heat transformed itself into searing pain, cutting through his veins and scorching his body from the inside out. His growls grew in decibels, shaking the house and inflicting fright upon whoever could hear. Lucian soon succumb to the dizzying pain, growling and clawing at himself until the world went dark around him and he could no longer feel.
