Roger smirked with his response and ogled him with a disgruntled look in his eyes. "Protect? Protecting your pack is the job of an alpha! You were just doing your duty, but you never ever cared for me, William.
Ahhggghh, I am so frustrated right now. It's no use of bickering with you, I am heading inside." He fiercely left inside the mansion leaving William behind. He couldn't stop him from leaving as he sighed with his response.
"Sorry, I never got the chance to prove my silent concern for you, Roger. But I won't stop doing my job, despite knowing you want to surpass my position someday.
I can fight back with you at that time but I can't let that happen to what your mom has faced here. I am not a weakling anymore..." He murmured with a sad smile and headed back inside.
Roger's POV:
I rushed inside the mansion hastily as I was fuming in wrath. Usually, I always maintain my calm and composed posture but today, I lost my patience with everything... I can't stand it when people look down at me with pity, especially William...
It forces me to reprimand my impotence when I lost the precious person of my life... The painful memory which I am struggling to obliterate from my mind becomes more vivid!
..
"Where is William?"
A dark, hoarse, vicious voice halted me from behind as I was walking towards my room. I knew the voice quite well, and it's the reason for the burden of nightmares that I have been carrying for all these years.
I turned behind with a blunt expression on my face. It was William's mom, Aelia, the proud alpha mother. She was the previous Luna of the Romano pack.
Tall, elegant, and divinely beautiful Aelia has been always the centre of attraction for the Romano pack. Not only her beauty, but she is also immensely powerful as a werewolf.
For her overall graciousness, she was chosen as the Luna by our father and the previous, powerful alpha of our pack, Antonio.
She was ogling me with an obscure look on her eyes while frowning her eyebrows. My patience was already at the edge and I didn't want to indulge with her furthermore.
"He is outside the mansion," I replied in an intense voice and tried to turn back to leave towards my room.
"Do you have the slightest idea what's the time now? My son has been roaming outside the mansion and I am pretty sure the reason is obviously you." She groaned at me fiercely while walking a few steps closer to me.
I had a disgruntled look on my face while ogling her. I despise her to such a core that even her slightest appearance disgusts me. And, she is well aware of this fact.
"I didn't ask your son to follow me outside." With a firm outlook, I replied to her in a hoarse voice.
She seemed agitated with my answer and growled at me. "What did you just say, you nasty ungrateful--"
"Mom, stop it!"
Immediately William intervened while she was approaching me fuming in rage, by standing in front of his mother and holding her right arm with his strong grasp.
" William? Where the heck have you been?" She shrieked at him fiercely in order to vent out her frustration.
William turned back and looked at me once. I was gawking at his mother while clenching my fist and he soon understood exasperation towards that lady!
"From when did you start caring about your son?" He reciprocated her query with a bold interrogation intensely. She seemed a bit offended by his gesture and immediately unleashed her hand from his grasp.
"A mother always cares about her child, but I always had to act stern to make you the strongest among all! It doesn't mean that I never cared about you." She sounded quite displeased as she was explaining her facts with a frowned face.
"Pffftt!" William smirked at his mother's response and sighed deeply. "Apart from grandma, no one ever tried to love me, mom! I was just, the future protector of our pack!
My worth was considered only as of the alpha, never as a small love-seeking child." He sounded a bit glum while bickering with his mother nonchalantly.
She again glared at me and her eye colour changed to dark red. It was an inherent trait of the alphas of our pack, whenever they are too infuriated or excited, their pupil changes their colour abruptly without their own will.
Many alphas spend years practising to master this power as we need to disguise it in the human realm. And among living within these humans, it's too easy to be infuriated with their ignorance.
"Are you starting to stand out against your own mother? Are you behaving like that nasty beta?" She yelled in a screeching tone while rolling her eyes in anger.
With her despicable tone, my annoyance crossed the limits. I clenched my wrist with my eyes turning into deep blue while gawking at her. I was preparing myself for defence as I need to face every incoming situation because it's impossible to trust that lunatic lady's behaviour.
"Don't draw him in today. It was my own will to go outside and I don't give a damn to let others know about my whereabouts. Don't try to act concerned about me after 150 years of my life."
William grumbled at him in a coarse voice with his eye colour gradually changing into bright red. He tried to meddle in between the intense situation to calm it down.
She smirked with his response and averted her stare towards William from me. "No matter how much you try to defend that nasty beta, he will be always an outsider in our family.
You and only you will be the legitimate child of your father." She proclaimed in a dark voice with a gaze of impotence towards me.
"His identity is not any nasty beta,
