Chapter 14 - He Glanced At Her

"Sir, should we walk in?" Mr. Pablo suggested.

He glanced at him once and sighed deeply. "I... I won't go inside. Mr.Pablo, you can hold the interview and send their applications to me for verification. I will be off to my room."

After conveying his words he started strolling swiftly toward his room to hide his clumsy gestures.

Mr. Pablo gazed at him all the way from behind, while he was walking away. "Why does sir looks so restless today? Is anything wrong here with the candidates?" He mumbled with a heavy breath out.

.....

William almost rushed to his room and hopped on his chair strenuously. His mind was too puzzled and he gulped down some water to calm himself. With a heavy sigh, he stared outside the window.

"Why? Why I can't control my instincts around the smell? How can the smell of a mere ignorant human captivate a sturdy beast like me? Why do I keep crossing paths with that weird lady?

Did I commit a grave mistake by saving her life last night?" He thought with an anxious gaze.

The interview for the open position of the new intern in the Romano group finally began. All the candidates were heading one by one according to their scheduled turns to Mr. Pablo's chamber. Sherry was consistently fidgeting while waiting for her turn. Soon her wait was over, and she was summoned.

With a fretful expression, she walked inside the room. Mr. Pablo greeted her with a warm smile and pointed toward the seat opposite him. She obediently took her place and handed him her CV.

"So, you are Miss Sherry Crawley." He was gawking at her documents while responding.

"Yes sir."

"Why do you want to work here?" He began his interrogation.

Sherry was quiet for a while and averted her gaze downwards. "I...I just want this job, for survival." Her voice seemed morose.

Mr. Pablo was startled by her answer and ogled at her for a few minutes. "Survival? Do you really need this job that badly?" He inquired.

Sherry silently nodded her head while lowering her chin downwards. "I am almost pushed at the extreme edge now. As I am given a second chance at survival, so I want to make good use of my life, without further regrets.

That's all about my wish now. For that, I need to have a job first. And, working in such a reputed company will be an honour for me." She continued.

Mr. Pablo sighed with her response and closed her file. "Well, your CV is quite satisfying, but I can't assure you of your approval, but I hope my boss will take your record into consideration." He replied politely with a small grin.

Sherry stood up from her seat and bowed her head tenderly.

...

William was standing near the huge fenestration of his cabinet, staring outside with a befuddled gaze. His mind was being quite impatient.

In the meantime, Mr. Pablo approached his cabinet, holding a pile of documents in his hand. "Sir? I just finished up with the interview." He sounded amiable.

William quickly turned towards him with curious eyes. "How did it go? Did they meet our expectations?" He snapped immediately.

Mr. Pablo grinned with a clumsy gesture and scrapped his neck awkwardly. "Well, most of the candidates were good enough with excellent track records. But one of the candidates caught my attention."

William cryptically stared at him for a moment. Mr. Pablo started searching a file among the pile of documents and quickly found the one. "Here, this one." He mumbled while handing over a document to him.

He took the file from his hand and flinched with the sight. It was my CV of Sherry. Even though her stamp size is small picture was radiating her beautiful appearance. William stared at her picture without winking while gently stroking it with his bigger fingers.

"Her answer to my question was quite absurd. She replied to me that she wants this job for her survival, as she is being pushed to the extreme edge of life.

Also, she told me that after getting a second chance in life, this time she wants to make good use of it. She seemed to be in extremely distressing condition, sir." Mr. Pablo blurted out nonchalantly.

William was still stroking her picture with a delicate gaze in his eyes and smiled a bit. "Perhaps, the second chance was about yesterday. I did a good job of saving her life." He thought with a kind sneer.

His mystic simpers appeared quite oblivious to Mr. Pablo. He was ogling at him and couldn't ask anything further.

After a while, William firmly grabbed the document in his arm and headed straight toward his seat. "I am approving her as one of our interns. Another candidate, you can choose among the rest of the applicants." He sounded quite frigid.

Mr. Pablo abruptly smiled widely at his decision. As he seemed to empathize with Sherry's condition. "Thank you, sir." He gently nodded his head and walked straight out of the room.

With a small grin on his face, he gazed at her picture for a moment. After a moment of anticipation, he scrapped out the picture from the document and put it inside the personal drawer of his table.

"I don't know why I am retaining her picture, but, I don't want to throw it out... It's better to keep that with me secretively." He murmured while closing the drawer.

.....

Sherry was strolling outside the office at a slow pace. She didn't have any higher hopes of getting the job after countless rejections she faced in her previous interviews. With a heavy-hearted sigh, she continued walking.

As she inattentively headed outside, suddenly she bumped into a strong muscular guy. It was only her fault as she was obviously lacking her concentration.

"Ahhh, I am really sorry, sir. I hadn't been paying attention." She bowed earnestly before the guy by lowering her head as an apology.

"So we meet again?"
