Chapter 14 - Party - part 2

"I can't believe he brought that whore!" Jan said and Gwen kicked her under the table. "What?"

"Don't say this kind of stuff in public!" gwen said. "We don't want any drama. Please, Jan…"

Gwen hated to have attention toward her, especially if it was negative. She was Ethan's ex-wife and something she did NOT need was people saying she was bad mouthing the woman accompanying him out of spite.

Johnattan was talking to someone while he went to get something for Gwen to drink. Water, to be more specific. She was not into alcohol at the moment.

Ethan was serious, but he had a pride face on. Gwen shook her head. How could she have loved this man? He was so low he even brought that woman, his mistress, the woman with whom he cheated on her while they were married, to that event. It could only mean that he and she were really together. He was shameful.

Darla was smiling, happily. Ethan had been avoiding her like the plague, but then, he called her, inviting her to go to this big event with him. She could never refuse! Her mother was more than excited when Darla gave news and they more than immediately went to buy a nice dress. The best she could find.

The dress was red, of course. Darla could never lose the chance to appear, be the spotlight. She had very fair skin, and that dress was very tight to her body. Ethan saw her walking to his car, when he went to fetch her, and felt uncomfortable. She was not attractive to him. 'Did I really sleep with her? I must have been really drunk at the time', he thought. He couldn't help but to remember Gwen's body, but he had to push it aside.

"Miss Cooper looks so beautiful in that dress! Look at her body! She is so slim like a model!" Gwen heard a woman saying to the other. Jan made a face after listening to that.

"It just proves Ethan has a terrible taste. That woman is skinny and has no curves." Then, Janet looked at Gwen. "He had a Goddess and prefered the surfboard."

"Shh!"

"What are you talking about, girls?" Johnatan came back. He and August got engaged in a conversation with a famous movie director.

"Nothing. Just seeing how beautiful all those people are." Janet answered with a fake smile. Johnatan looked up and he saw Ethan with Darla Cooper. he knew very well that the woman was the culprit of Ethan and Gwen's split up.

"I see." he said and offered his hand to Gwen. She looked at it and, at his face, confused. "Let 's dance."

"Great!" Janet saind and Augusto, of course, understood she was, too, in the mood for a dance. He offered his hand to her, who accepted it gladly.

Gwen didn't want to dance, in reality, but she decided she would. She was already there, right?

Ethan sat on the table destined to him after he had greeted some people. Darla was acting as if she really was Mrs. Lennox. He raised his eyes and his smile died right on the spot. First, he saw Johnatan and he hated it. Then, when another woman moved, he saw Gwen. Now, his mouth was slightly opened.

Darla sensed that Ethan became tense all of a sudden and she followed his stare. When she saw Gwen Hoffmann, she inhaled deeply. 'What is that bitch doing here?', she asked herself with clenched fists under the table.

Ethan swallowed hard, sifting uncomfortably on his seat. Gwen was a vision! That dress was absolutely perfect and as much as it molded her body, it didn't do justice to her beauty, in the end. She would look much better, in his opinion, if she was naked. He wanted to see her naked, but not there, not for all that people to see. They could go home and he would take that dress off as if she was a gift for him to unwrap and… 'she is not your wife anymore', the little voice in his head reminded him. 'She won't go home with you because she doesn't leave with you anymore'.

He frowned deeply. Then, he saw Johnatan Lestrange's hand on the curve of her back, pulling her to him, while his other hand held hers. They were going to dance and the motherfuker was too close to her.

"Honey, do you want to dance?" Darla asked him and finally he remembered about her existence. She had a worried look on her eyes.

'Fuck!', he cursed himself for having the worst idea ever, by bringing that woman with him! Now, if he ever had any chance of convincing Gwen to go to his house after the party, so they could have a great night, like old times, that chance was gone the moment he arrived with Darla.

"No. I'm good here." he answered and Darla looked disappointed. She wanted to dance, especially now that Gwen was doing that! She looked at Ethan and saw resolution in his eyes.

'Is he going to stay here, watching her?', she asked herself.

Gwen, on the other hand, was having a very nice time. She was a bit reluctant in dancing, but Johnny was such a gentleman and helped her to relax. For a moment, she forgot they were surrounded by people, something that scared her a lot.

"I have to say this, Gwen, you look divine! I have in my arms the most beautiful woman of this whole party!" Johnny said with a sincere smile on his face. He was proud to have her with him and it was visible by the way he moved and looked at everyone, since the moment they arrived at the party.

"Ah, Johnny, you are too kind!" She said, blushing. He was the first man to say those things to her.

"Me? No, just telling the truth. I know you must hear this everyday, but I had to say it anyway!" She looked down after he said that and Johnny frowned. "What is it? Did I say something wrong?"

"No, that's not it."

Ethan was watching them and when he saw that Gwen seemed unhappy, he rose from his seat. Jeremy, who was sitting at the same table as Ethan and was aware of how Ethan reacted to Gwen, raised his eyebrows when his friend got up and started to walk in Gwen and Johnatan's direction. Darla didn't know what to do and had a pitiful expression. Jeremy smiled. He didn't like her, anyway and got really pissed with Ethan for inviting her.

'Take that, your bitch!', he tought. 'Well, now it's going to be interesting.'
