Chereads / Meeting my Ex-Husband / Chapter 18 - Pizza?

Chapter 18 - Pizza?

"That, Jan, is a very good question!" Gwen said and got the coffee from the table, but Janet took it out of her hand. Gwen looked at her without understanding what was Janet doing.

"This is my coffee. Your ex-husband got yours." Janet said and drank the coffee, leaving Gwen with her mouth opened. "Fine, get the damned coffee if you want it so much!" She said and handed the cup to Gwen, who smiled and gladly accepted what was being offered to her.

"Jan, this man came here in the middle of the night, absolutely wasted. Well, not drunk enough to try to have sex with me." Janet sat on the chair in front of Gwen's.

"He tried to…" She looked at the door and back to Gwen. "Did you?"

"No!" Gwen answered and drank a little bit more of the coffee. Janet squinted her eyes at Gwen.

"Don't lie! He slept here!"

"Yeah. He slept here. We didn't do anything."

"Anything?" Janet questioned her with a raised eyebrow.

"Just a few kisses. That 's it. Well, I was caught by surprise. And he is hot. What did you expect me to do?"

"Gwen Hoffmann! You naughty!" Janet hit her friend slightly on the arm, while offering a sly smile. "If he was not so drunk, would you have…?"

The meaningful stare Janet was giving her made Gwen's cheeks flush crimson. She sighed in defeat.

"Yes. And I hate myself for that!"

Janet was smiling and giggling.

"I knew it!" She said. "He is into you. He is just too much of a jerk to admit it!"

Gwen said nothing, but she remembered Ethan's words. He said he loved her. Did he? 'Don't, Gwen! It is a trap!'

"Jan, what people say when they are drunk is for real? Or is it just caused by hallucination?"

"What did he say?" Janet asked, curiously.

"Just that he wanted me."

Gwen decided to lie. Janet knew Gwen long enough to know when her best friend was lying, but she was not making Gwen uncomfortable.

"Yes, he meant it. Normally when the person is drunk like that is when the truth comes out. The person becomes without filter and will say whatever comes to the mind and open up the heart."

Gwen looked at her own hands, without knowing if she should or not believe Ethan. In the end, she decided she would wait and see. Maybe he would not even remember what he said to her.

After Janet prepared some toasts for them, she and Gwen went to the bedroom to watch movies.

"Come on, no romance!" Gwen asked. She was not in the mood for cheesy movies. She wanted something that would make her heart race with action, not with cheap words. She had enough of that during the night.

"Fine, fine! What about…" Janet asked, looking at the streaming and traveling through it with the remote control. "What about Bourne Supremacy?"

Gwen hated that movie. Not because the movie was bad, but because she knew Ethan liked that.

"Another on, maybe?"

"Gwen, stop it. I know Ethan likes that, but I also do. Can't you focus on me?"

"Ok." Gwen sighed. "Fine."

"Great! And I'll order pizza!"

"It is morning…"

"So what? I have been keeping my body fit for the industry. At least right now, with my best friend, I want to be able to eat something delicious."

Janet loved junk food, but she had to keep her body slim, just like the producers asked her to do. She accepted, of course, since she loved her career. Now she was a director and all, but anyway, she still had to keep her figure as an example.

After about half an hour, the door bell rang.

"I get it." Gwen said. It was uncomfortable enough to watch that movie. At least by receiving the pizza she would have a break from…"Ethan?" She asked in horror, after opening the door.

"Me." he said and entered her apartment. He heard the movie, since the door of the bedroom was open. "Waiting for me?"

Gwen was speechless for a moment, but soon she recolected herself and stopped him from walking, holding his arm.

"Wait a minute! You can't just enter like that! No, I was not waiting for you. Jan is here." She released him while throwing her arms in the air.

Ethan made a face. 'Janet… how unlucky!'

"Send her away, then." he said and sat on her sofa, his arms behind his head, his back leaned backwards and his legs open. "Is that how you greet your husband, Gwen?"

She looked at him and put her hands on her hips.

"Of course not! When I have a husband, I'll treat him just the way he deserves. Considering that I'll only marry someone with reciprocated feelings, yes, I'll be very, very nice to him."

Pain flashed through Ethan's eyes, but just for a second. He got up from the sofa and walked in Gwen's direction as if he was a beast, ready to pounce on her.

"The only man you're marrying, Gwen, is me." He said and she mocked him, chuckling.

"Sure, in your dreams. We married once and that was enough. I don't need three more years of humiliation!" She said, seriously. "Get out of my house."

He walked to her until he was right in front of Gwen, almost chest to chest - of course, he was way taller than her. He held her by the waist with one hand and the ther, was in the back of her head. His lips crashed against hers. Since she stepped backwards, her bum hit the table and Ethan didn't waste time. He lifted her and sat her on it.

Janet heard a noise and decided to go check on it. What was taking Gwen so long to finally get back to the bedroom with the damn pizza?

"Gwen, what… What the hell?" She asked, surprised. Gwen tried to get away, putting her hands on Ethan's chest.

"Fuck off, Hudson. Can't you see a couple here trying to make out? Are you trying to be the third wheel?"

"Third…?" Janet's lips were tightened in a thin line.

"Jan, wait…"

"We talk later. I don't want to intrude." She said.

"Not, wait!" Gwen pushed Ethan away and tried to go after her friend, but Janet was already far away. After she closed the door and looked at Ethan, pissed. "Ethan Lennox!"

"Finally she is gone." He said.

"I mean it, Ethan! Get out! I don't know what is going on inside that crazy mind of yours, but I am not accepting this!"

"Haven't I told you, Gwen? I love you and I want you."

"Ah... pizza?" the delivery boy asked from the doorway.
