Chapter 19 - Lies

"Sure!" Ethan said and took the money from his wallet. Gwen felt the urge to push him outside the door, since he was with this back to her, but then, the delivery boy was looking and what if Ethan accidently hurt the man while trying to gather his balance?

'You're just thinking about the pizza…' the voice in her mind told her. She pouted on how true that was. She just came back to Earth when Ethan slapped her bum on his way to the kitchen.

"You have to leave." She said, crossing her arms in front of her chest. Ethan was never one to be playful with her. What was he plotting, this time?

"After we eat. This is the second time I come here and you're asking delivery food." he looked at her. "Having trouble cooking? Want me to help you?"

She gave him a strange look.

"What? Are you going to cook for me?" Her incredibility in his was huge. Ethan never cooked when he was with her.

"Me? of course not. Want me to burn your house down? No. I was talking about me being the reason why you would want to cook everyday." He was now sitting on the chair, very comfortably, his legs open. Very relaxed. Gwen rolled her eyes.

"Ha, Ha. Very funny. Well, do you want me to cook for you, Ethan dear?" The tone she used was too sweety and Ethan knew she was being sarcastic. Even dangerous.

"Not yet. After we are living together again, yes. I would love to see you again preparing those lovely meals." He always gave the food to Jeremy, and he would not eat the food whenever she cooked at home. But it smelled nice, he remembered. He was just too proud to eat it.

"That is not going to happen. I want you to tell me the truth, right now, Ethan Lennox!" Gwen demanded, stomping her foot on the floor.

"I already told you, Gwen, I love you." He was looking at her very seriously, not with the lazy smile curling on his lips.

"Oh, really?" She chuckled. "When did you realize that? We've been married for three years and you never loved me. Actually, quite the contrary, I would say. I spent two years abroad after our divorce and not even once you tried to contact me. I came back and you were pretty demanding on your wish for me to leave the city at once. Now, you are here, telling me you love me. I'm sorry for being skeptical."

"Your mocking tone is offensive." Ethan said. "But really, I know I've been rough on you. Actually, I don't know how it happened. I just woke up one day and I was missing you around, but I think I was too proud to accept it. But seeing you with another man was the charm." Ethan got up from the chair and walked slowly to Gwen.

"As if…" she said, rolling her eyes and looking to the side.

"I don't want you with anyone else, Gwen."

"What you don't want, Ethan, is me being happy. You fear I might be happy with Johnny and that scared you. Isn't it?" She was looking at him with a sad smile. Ethan stopped walking and had a stunned expression. "Get out."

"We can still have sex. That is the least you can do."

"What?" She couldn't believe her ears. "Seriously, fuck off or I'll call security. I've been quite patient with you, Lennox. But you want to ruin my life, but also, enjoy my body. I never thought I would say that, or even feel this way, but I hate you right now. Get out. NOW!"

Her eyes were gleaming with tears. For a tiny second she thought he was being real. She hated herself for almost believing him! Ethan walked past her and didn't even look in her direction. When he left, she let herself slide on the wall to the floor, crying.

Ethan was walking to his car. He remembered he had said 'I love you' to her while drunk, and believed he had imagined someone else. Or he was just too drunk. He decided to use that to make Gwen leave Johnatan and be alone, like she deserved to be after what she did. When she said she hated him, he never imagined that would make his heart almost stop.

'Who the hell she thinks she is to tell me something of the sort?', he thought, angrily. 'She should thank me for even touching her!'.

The little voice in his head was screaming like crazy, scolding him. 'You know very well you want her!'. But he denied. 'This is WRONG!', he also pushed that away. If she so wanted to remain in Cincinnati, she would, but she would not know peace!

When he arrived home, he received a call from Darla, but he rejected her. He just didn't pick a fight with her the other night because he still felt he owned her, after Gwen, his wife at the time, had made Darla lose the baby. But he would not accept her around him. She might have been a target of Gwen's, but Darla was no flower and the slap he gave on Gwen was proof enough. She sneaked to the women's restroom to fight the woman and pretended nothing happened.

'I'll let this one slide, Darla, because I'll consider this slap for our child', he decided and went to shower. Gwen's scent was all over him and he didn't want to keep smelling that. Especially because he liked that very much and the realization of this was too much for him to bear with.
