Chapter 28 - LITTLE FEET, BIG FEET

The two of them had decided that Xia Qiao would learn how to dance the child's dance that was created by Yi Xue many years ago, and the creator of the dance seriously taught the young girl the basic moves of the dance.

"You said you saw that dance when you were a kid, so you know that it requires a lot of footwork, right?" Yi Xue started. "The pace has to be light, and you can't put too much pressure on the ground. Also, you have to remember that you have to pretend that there are puddles of water around you when you dance, so you have to move your feet as if you were playing with water."

Xia Qiao earnestly listened to the older woman's guidance, and her memories flew to the time when she watched a group of children dance in the Imperial Palace when she was nine.

At that time, she thought that the children's movements looked ridiculous, but when she thought about it again, she realized that the children were diligently moving their feet as if there were puddles of water all around them.

"Now, you can try to do the moves carefully, and you also have to do it barefoot," Yi Xue continued. "There's no music here, but this kind of dance doesn't really need music. You just need to feel the sensation when your body is drenched in rain and just move your body as if you are enjoying it. I know that it will be difficult because today is sunny, but you have to learn to feel the right feelings to be able to dance well."

True, it was noon, and even if the sun wasn't too hot today, there was no sign of rain, so it was indeed hard to imagine that feeling.

However, Xia Qiao was very determined when she remembered her goal, and she also had chosen the dance, so she would give her all to learn the dance moves.

Nodding her head, the veiled girl then began to move her feet to make small jumps on the pavement. It was her first time learning to dance, and her movements still looked stiff. What's more, there was no music or rain at this time, and it looked awkward as she started moving her feet on the pavement.

It was quite funny because the name of the dance was "Little Feet Under the Rain" when her feet were no longer small. She was a big girl now, at least 5 feet and 6 inches, and she couldn't be said to be small at all.

However, she kept moving her feet based on memories of when she saw a group of children dancing in the palace when she was celebrating her ninth birthday, but the memories were quite hazy, and she frowned as she became increasingly hesitant to move her feet.

Yi Xue seemed to notice the hesitation, and she immediately asked the younger girl to stop. "You don't remember the dance moves?" She asked.

Xia Qiao only watched the dance once, and that was when she was nine years old, so she assumed it was normal that she couldn't remember all the moves she saw back then. Therefore, she calmly shook her head to answer Yi Xue's question.

Getting a nonverbal response from the veiled girl, Yi Xue sighed before saying, "It's my fault that I didn't show the dance moves first."

It was indeed the master's fault. Without letting her disciple watch the dance first, she immediately asked the girl to move her feet, and she somehow felt guilty about it.

"It's been a long time since I last danced this dance, so maybe my moves won't be very good," Yi Xue admitted awkwardly, and she was indeed embarrassed because she needed to dance the child's dance when she was no longer a child.

She was an adult now, and she was used to sexy dances when she performed at Tiantang, so it was a bit awkward when she had to dance the children's dance again.

Unfortunately, she had agreed with Xia Qiao that she would help the younger girl, so she had no other choice but to lower her pride and once again performed the dance that looked ridiculous in people's eyes.

She brought her long legs to the center of the platform that had a lotus pattern on it, and she began to jump lightly on the pavement as if her feet were surrounded by puddles of water.

Her movements did look light, and Yi Xue looked like a feather flying with the wind as she continued to move her feet and body. She even spread her arms, and she made a movement as if she accepted water flowing from the sky. Her slim fingers even moved as if she was playing with water, and Xia Qiao was amazed by the movement.

When she watched a group of children dancing in the palace many years ago, Xia Qiao did not think that the children managed to do the details so well, and their movements were different from Yi Xue's.

It was understandable since Yi Xue was a professional dancer, but Xia Qiao still stared at the older girl in admiration as the girl kept moving as if she was dancing in the rain.

The dance did look simple, but in Xia Qiao's eyes, it looked beautiful even though the dance was actually for children.

She was amazed by Yi Xue's performance and didn't even want to close her eyes if she didn't need it, but she was even more surprised when Yi Xue started to do full-speed spins after she was done with the foot and hand movements.

Xia Qiao was shocked. She didn't remember that there was such a fast spinning motion in the child's dance and that the movement looked so difficult that her confidence was starting to wane.
