Chapter 29 - THE NAGGY DUAN SHUCHUN

Duan Shuchun was a person who liked to nag. She was the boss of Tiantang House, and she actually didn't come from a powerful or influential family in Chang City. However, many people were willing to listen to her, and some people were even afraid of her. And the reason behind that was because that woman loved to nag so much.

Yi Xue wasn't afraid of Duan Shuchun, but it was quite disturbing to hear the older woman nagging non-stop, and that was why she told Xia Qiao that she was going to the hall to join the other girls to train for a few hours.

Yi Xue had shown Xia Qiao all the "Little Feet Under the Rain" moves, and she had the younger girl train herself when she returned to the Tiantang hall. The younger girl looked hesitant, but she chose to nod her head as it was their agreement before they started practicing today.

Duan Shuchun wanted Yi Xue to join the dance team practice in the hall, so Xia Qiao had no choice but to let the older girl go while she continued to practice alone in the backyard.

Before leaving the backyard, Yi Xue caught a glimpse of how Xia Qiao had started training on her own, and she sighed heavily before continuing to walk towards the Tiantang hall.

Arriving in the hall, she could see how all the girls were practicing dancing together, and it was a rare sight as some girls usually only practiced playing musical instruments and also singing.

Due to Duan Shuchun's stubbornness, the girls had to move their stiff bodies to dance, and Yi Xue could only helplessly shake her head. Even if the girls had learned how to do the basic dance, their movements were still stiff, and they were no better than Xia Qiao who had just started learning to dance today.

Yi Xue was pessimistic about the scene in the hall, but she still brought her feet toward Duan Shuchun who was busy teaching the girls some dance moves. At this point, Yi Xue only wished that those girls would be able to move around not so stiffly and wouldn't look as if they were puppets tied with strings.

Stopping walking right behind the Tiantang's boss, she patted the boss on the shoulder, causing the boss to flinch slightly before turning towards her.

"Aiyah! You finally remembered to come here, huh?" Duan Shuchun coldly questioned the younger girl, but the girl just rolled her eyes lazily.

"Let's talk first," Yi Xue replied. "I'll join the practice later, but I think the two of us should talk first."

Duan Shuchun looked like she was about to explode when she heard Yi Xue's answer. She had been waiting for the younger girl to join the practice in the hall, and now that the girl had finally remembered to come to the hall, the girl didn't want to join the practice right away.

Instead, Yi Xue wanted to talk to her first, and that was quite disturbing to the boss who was already feeling exhausted both mentally and physically.

However, when Duan Shuchun saw Yi Xue's resolute expression, she heaved a heavy sigh before gesturing for the other girls to continue practicing before gesturing for Yi Xue to follow her to the side of the hall.

Yi Xue followed the boss, and the two of them finally stopped walking when they were at the side of the hall. They were still in the hall, but they were quite far from the other girls who were still busy practicing, and they knew that they could talk privately without worrying that the girls would be able to hear them.

"What do you want to talk to me about, Ah Xue? Our time is tight, but you keep slacking off rather than diligently practicing with the other girls," the Tiantang's boss immediately rebuked the younger girl.

However, it was Yi Xue who received the scolding, and it seemed that her reprimand only entered the girl's left ear before escaping from the right ear.

"You know that our time is limited, but you still do such a thing," Yi Xue replied as she moved her chin towards the group of girls who were training together. "Are you planning to put on a puppet show at the Imperial Palace? But as far as I remember, the Imperial Palace asked you to send dancers for an event at the palace, and they didn't say they wanted to see some puppets there, right?"

Duan Shuchun knew that the younger girl was being sarcastic, and she sighed before replying, "It's certainly not easy, but I still believe that this idea is better than recruiting a new girl we can't trust." She glanced at the group of girls before adding, "What about that stubborn Xia Qiao? Did you really take her to practice in the backyard?"

Before Yi Xue left the hall earlier, she did tell Duan Shuchun that she would take Xia Qiao to train in the backyard, and after several hours had passed, the boss finally asked for confirmation.

"Yes," Yi Xue replied calmly. "I asked a few servants to clean the backyard, and Xia Qiao has already started training on our Lotus Platform."

Duan Shuchun's heart skipped a beat when she heard how the younger girl mentioned a place she hadn't been to in years. She was the one who named the place many years ago, but it seemed the name was starting to fade in her memory as no one dared to mention it in front of her anymore.

Only Yi Xue dared to mention the name in front of her after so many years, and her memories flew straight to what happened in that place ten years ago.
