Chapter 10 - 10 I HOPE HE ISN'T THE ONE

The bodyguards were already informed that Kate was going out, so they were standing outside waiting for her to come out.

Kate stepped out of the room and who she saw standing in her front made her stiff. She stared at the young, handsome man standing in front of her front.

It was John, the president's son. Kate stared at him with a shock that she almost hissed at him, but she decided to maintain herself and asked.

"What the hell are you doing in my father's house?"

"Kate, right? At least, you should have welcomed me with a hug or a kiss before asking me any questions." John said.

"To hell with your kiss and hug. And if I may ask. Who gave you the guts to come into the house without permission?" Kate angrily asked.

John stood silently as he stared at her for a while and then chuckled. His bodyguards were dressed in black suits and black eyeglasses. Only their broad chest can make one shiver, not to talk of their body sizes and height. John was also wearing a black and white shirt and a golden wristwatch. He unbuttoned the two top buttons, which exposed the flower tattoo he drew on the left side of his chest. He may look handsome and cute to other girls, but certainly not with Kate because she wasn't ready to have any affairs with him.

"Am I talking to your bitch! Don't let me call my father." Kate warned.

"You can go on. Call him. Didn't your father tell you that I was coming? Huh?" John asked as he gestured towards her.

"Don't… Don't dare come close to me," Kate warned.

"Oh, I'm sorry." John jokingly said and still stepped closer to her, but Kate's bodyguards didn't react because Kate's father warned them never to interfere in anything they are discussing or doing.

"Oh, I can see that you are going crazy," Kate said and took out her phone from her black purse. She dialed her father's number.

Mr. Smith picked up the call.

"Dad, what's happening here?" Kate yelled from the phone, but Mr. Smith already knew what she was asking, and he didn't need to ask her what she meant. Mr. Smith was sitting in his office chair. Probably, he was in his office when Kate called.

"Kate, I know you will be wondering how he got into the house without your knowledge. But actually, I ordered the guards to let him in because he was coming to see you. I don't see the reason you should get angry at him." Mr. Smith said.

"Father, how could you just allow a stranger into the house to come and see me without my consent?" Kate asked with a serious tone.

"Point of correction, he isn't a stranger. This is not the first time you are meeting him. So, how did he suddenly become a stranger when you have met him before?" Mr. Smith smirked.

"I can see that you are supporting the madness he is displaying. But dad, you know what, the mansion is always open for him to come in, but he can never, I mean he can never have my attention." Kate angrily replied to her father.

"Kate, don't be too rude to try such a thing." Mr. Smith warned.

"Then keep dreaming, father," Kate responded.

"Let me…." Mr. Smith was about to say something and Kate hung up.

Kate turned to John and warned him never to dare to come closer to her. She walked away, leaving him standing speechless.

Kate ordered her bodyguards to take her to where she was going. Which they did.

People were still hanging around the burning workshop. Jack's father moved to where Jack was standing and stood in front of him. Mr. John could see how his son's eyes were red and swollen from crying. He took pity on the poor boy, called his son.

Jack stood speechless, staring at his father, who was also staring at him. Jack was scared, and he wondered what his father would say to him. He suddenly took his gaze away from his father because of shyness and fear.

Mr. John walked up to Jack and hugged him. Jack hated himself for what he had done.

"Jack, it's okay. You don't need to worry yourself. Everything will be fine." Mr. John assured him as he embraced him in his arms.

Jack sobbed some more.

He felt sorry for his father, for putting such a burden on him. Jack prayed for a miracle from above. Because he knew that this was too much on his father.

Even though Jack and his father had been standing staring at the burning workshop, they didn't inform Mrs. Elizabeth, Jack's mother, hoping to inform her when they got home.

Kate got to Jessica's shop, and she was so shocked to see the smoke coming out from the already quenched fire. She stood for a while to examine it. Actually, only a few people were still standing there looking at the rumble. She felt sorry for the owner. When she felt okay staring at it, she gestured to Jessica.

"Oh, Kate, you're here," Jessica said as he stood up from her chair.

"Yeah. How are you today?" Kate greeted her and they hugged.

"Am fine. Welcome." Jessica welcomed her.

This time around, Kate's bodyguards were with her as they were instructed to.

Kate and Jessica were involved in a discussion and Kate asked Jessica what happened to the shop opposite hers.

"Jessica, what exactly happened to that shop?" Kate asked, pointing in the direction of the already burnt shop.

"Oh, that?" Jessica explained everything to her.

"But the poor boy weren't supposed to be blamed," Kate said to Jessica after hearing the sad story.

"Well, that's how it was supposed to be, but the owner also claimed to be a poor man, so he had to ask them to pay $1 million. He wanted $1.5 million, but he also considered the poor boy situation and then decided to reduce it to $1 million." Jessica said.

"What's the boy's name?" Kate asked with a pitying voice.

"His name is Jack, and he's a good friend of mine. So humble and caring. I felt sorry for the boy." Jessica responded.

When Kate heard the name 'Jack', she froze for a moment. She later recovered herself back. Encouraging herself that it wasn't the Jack she knew because she had talked to him a few hours ago, and he said he was fine.

"But, what was the shop used for?" Kate summoned the courage to ask to be convinced that it wasn't the Jack she knew that Jessica was talking about.

"It's a furniture workshop," Jessica answered.

Kate immediately felt like she was stabbed with a knife. She sat speechlessly, and Jessica saw the sadness on her face. Jessica thought that Kate was only worried about what happened, not knowing that she was thinking about another different thing.
