The brown-colored envelope containing this month's salary is handed to five workers. When it was the female worker's turn, he clutched the envelope tightly. He felt compassion for his worker. She was still young but needed to work to support her life in the city. Sometimes he wondered, was the salary given enough for the girl?
"Boss, when you will be handed my money?"
"Oops, sorry."
"Why it's so thick today?" The girl scanned the contents inside the envelope. It wasn't the usual one she always got.
"You're working extra hours during last week. Beside you replacing The Burn Guy."
"Oh, yeah! I forgot about that."
Pap!
The girl beamed in pain as her head was shoved by someone from behind.
"What's your problem, huh?" She fumed.
"Who was The Burn Guy you called earlier?" Burn said in an angry embroidered tone.
"Burn, Anna! That's it, let's not fight here. Just go back."
"Alright, Mr. Kent. See you tomorrow," said Burn.
They both walked back home. It was a habit for Annabella and Burn to return together after work. After all, their neighborhood parks were close to each other.
"It's crazily cold today." Burn said while pulling the zip of the jacket he was wearing.
"Burn, I'd like to ask you a few questions."
"Since when did you ask permission when to ask something from me?"
"Why your name is Burn?" asked Annabella with a serious face.
"Annabella!"
"I wanted to know about that for ages!"
"Anna, if you ask that question again, with my teleportation powers, you will be tossed out anywhere." He warned her.
Annabella's laughter erupted when Burn said that the man had a superpower. She knew it was only a skill that could be seen on television.
"If you have teleportation power, I have the power of fire to let you burn," Annabella said before continuing to laugh.
"You have the power of fire?" asked Burn with a surprising reaction.
"I'm joking! Your face is so silly!"
"What?"
"Do trust my words?"
"Of course, I am!"
Annabella laughs hysterically. "Do believe that kind of world with firepower and fairy godmother?"
"What if it exists?" Burn still didn't give in to his belief.
"Oh my goodness, Burn. I laugh so much today. Thanks for making me happy."
She was comfortable being friends with the man. Burn was a joker. She had known him since he started working as a part-timer at the cake. They were quite close to each other. But, Burn is always busy with his studies.
"How's your exam?" She asked.
"Healthy."
"I'm not asking about you."
"I thought you missed me because I didn't come to work for a week."
"There's no point in missing you. I like it better when you're not around. I get a lot of money covering your parts."
"You're a money sucker!"
"I am!"
They arrived at the crossroads.
"See you tomorrow, Anna."
"Bye," said Annabella.
Burn still stood at the crossroads while watching the back of Annabella who had walked far away.
"If you're not believing in magic, then that magic will find you someday." Burn slowly disappeared in the blink of an eye without any traces of his footsteps.
