Chereads / Sylvania: Annabella Valiant / Chapter 4 - Werewolf

Chapter 4 - Werewolf

"I'm back," Annabella said. She trudged inside her house. Even if no one lived in her house, she would have said that.

She put her back on the kitchen island. Her feet stepped over to the refrigerator. There was no food. She complained instantly. If Mrs. Flynn was around, she would receive food from that woman. Sometimes Mrs. Flynn would give her pies, pastries, cakes, and other things but Mrs. Flynn and her family had been on vacation for two days.

"Time to buy things. Yippie!" she said dispassionately.

Any other young girl would have gone out shopping but not Annabella. For her, shopping would be a waste of money and a waste of time.

"Once in a while Anna. What's the harm? After all, you have a month's salary bonus. You can use it to buy groceries." Annabella said to herself.

She nodded with her own words. After all, it had been a long time since her kitchen was smoky. Without missing a beat, she continued into the room to clean herself up and get ready to go out.

A white blouse, black pants, and a sheath and hat to protect her golden yellow hair. If exposed to the sun, her hair would shine like gold. Therefore, she wore a hat to avoid drawing attention.

Her steps were set towards the adjacent bazaar. Murky and black clouds already filled the space.

Rain again? Her pace hastened. As soon as he entered the bazaar, the rain began to drench the earth.

Fuh, good luck had it! Otherwise, her clothes would have gotten wet.

She bought the items she needed. Fortune favored her, as there were promotions on the goods being sold. So, she could save carefully. The extra money could be used for next week. After she finished purchasing the necessary items, the rain stopped. It was getting dusk. The children who were skateboarding had gone home.

She went through a rather dark alley because it was the only shortcut to get to the residential area. Armed with a strong spirit, she went through the area. She recalled the story of her neighbor who had seen a strange, gnawing creature.

Krack!

Annabella looked back in case she heard the sound of a broken twig being stomped by something. She swallowed her saliva with difficulty. Her eyelashes were already standing on end. Annabella quickened her pace.

Bamm!

She looked back once more. This time she heard something heavy fall on a high place. Her forehead was already sweaty.

"Who is it?" Annabella dared to speak even though her hands were already trembling with fear. Her question went unanswered. Probably the cats fighting over a fish. She nursed her own heart.

The pace was set again. But her steps stopped abruptly. Her whole body shivered with fear. The plastic bag she was holding slipped from her hand. The items contained in the plastic bag were scattered on the tar road.

Her eyes widened at the sight of the creature before her. Her neighbor's story about the strange creature was true. The creature looked like a wolf. The body was covered in thick black fur. The pitch-black eyes of the werewolf contemplated Annabella like prey. The werewolf grinned revealing long, sharp fangs. She can see blood dripping from the fangs with the help of the streetlight.

The werewolf approached the stiff Annabella. The apple that oozed out of the plastic bag was stepped on by the creature.

She stepped one step at a time backward, causing herself to fall to the ground. The creature approached her as the girl shuffled backward with a terrified face.

The creature wanted to pounce but the girl managed to dodge. She got up to run away rather than fall prey to the creature that resembled a real wolf.

Annabella ran as hard as she could to save herself but the creature kept chasing her from behind. She entered the newly built construction area in an attempt to hide.

Her chest was thumping. She reached for the iron stranded on the cement floor as a weapon to defend herself.

Annabella hid behind a pillar when the creature approached her. Her breath was held and will not make any sound. The iron rod was held firmly. She stalked around wanting to make sure that the werewolf wasn't following her. Annabella came out of her hiding place after making sure that the werewolf was gone.

Without a sound, Annabella ran out of the construction area. Unfortunately, her foot hit a rock and she fell. The iron rod that was in her hand slipped out of her hand and made a strong clanking sound.

Annabella opened her eyes. The creature was already in front of her with saliva mixed with blood melting out.

Annabella wanted to get up but the pain in her legs prevented her from writing. Her body shook with fear. She shuffled backward to reach the metal that was not far from her. The creature approached her with a gnawing snarl. Without hesitation, it grabbed her leg.

"Arghh!" screamed Annabella as the wolf's fingernails dug into her skin. But it did not discourage her from reaching the iron.

One more step... Just a little more...

Finally, she managed to pick up the iron rod. With the strength at hand, Annabella swung the iron towards the wolf's head with all her might. The gripped leg gave way as the creature jumped away from her. The blood flowing out from the grip was painful and stinging.

However, her actions drew the fury of the werewolf. The creature continued to attack Annabella. She only surrendered because she was no longer able to defend herself.

After all, there was no point in her living anymore because her father was no longer by her side even though this was not how she wanted to leave this world.

The creature wanted to attack Annabella but was blocked by someone.

"You're having a party without me."
