I opened my eyes to find myself in an unfamiliar bed. A groan of agony emerged from my throat when ropes of pain rolled through my entire body. It felt like a sack of stones. It took me a moment to manage to the half-laid and half-sitting position before focusing my gaze on my surroundings.
The fog cleared off enough to give me a glimpse of the free space caged by the four walls. The color of the walls was soothing to the eye. Peach. However, the whole place was illuminated by dim candlelight. I could make out my surroundings as clearly as the day thanks to my wolf sight.
Looking further into the room, I found that there were not many items around. The room was big enough to hold 20 people inside but it was bare except for a full-sized bed which was placed in the middle of the room and a rocking chair sat in front of the fireplace. There was a wooden almirah.
There were two doors in the room, one of them I assumed opened to the bathroom while the other led outside.
To my left, I found a small window not far from the bed, which was giving me the slightest view of the outside world. However, it was too small for me to make it out of this place by using it to escape.
Though I could see the ocean through it. Water crashes over the rock's formation of the island. There was no sun shining in the sky. It was pitch black, if not for the selected area shining under the silvery glow of the moon.
What was more strange? Except for that particular noise of the water crashing down against the stones, no other sounds could be heard from the building. Even the forest outside was dead calm.
I hated to sound afraid, but the surrounding atmosphere made it hard for me not to freak out.
Suddenly, a whimper of pain slipped from my mouth when I tried to move my legs to leave the bed. My gaze followed down the rest of the way to find bandages wrapped around several parts of my body.
I remembered a vampire's fangs tearing at the side of my neck. My fingers moved to touch there. There was a bandage covering my neck as well. From the pings of pain shooting from the slight movement, I could tell it wasn't healed yet. Even with my wolf healing mechanism?
It came as a surprise to me. Maybe my wolf was beaten up as I was and that's what took her long to recover. Thinking of that, I couldn't help but wonder how long I have been out.
Searching through my memories, I did remember being taken hostage by those filthy creatures and being dumped here.
And how could I forget the moment when lightning struck down at me and the biggest curse of my life came to light in front of my eyes? Tears gathered at the brim of my eyes, remembering the moment my gaze found the one I was looking for for so long, only to realize that the person was not what I dreamed.
Heck, he was nothing like how I imagined him to be!
I couldn't help but keep asking myself, 'how could the moon goddess make such a grave mistake? How could she bind me with a creature with no soul? How could a person I was insane about meeting turn out to be the biggest mistake of my life? Or simply called it the karma of bad deeds of my previous lifespans.'
The moment I dreamed of thousands of times becomes true only to rip my heart apart. During my training, my father used to tell me not to let my emotions cloud my judgment. It could get me killed.
After years and years of training, I mastered the skill, I used to think I did.
Out of habit, I did not let my inner storm be obvious on my face while getting the bow to my heart and my sanity. Now that I was left alone and had enough time to gather all these pieces together, I couldn't help but relive it.
The flashes of the incident kept pushing me back to the edge. I was left alone in this shady place and couldn't help but dwelled in the sorrow of my broken hopes, dreams, and my shitty self.
Tears continued pouring from my eyes, pain was unbearable for my heart to take. I didn't know how much time it took, however, once all the tears dried in my eyes. I wiped off my face with the back of my hand and used all my strength to stand on my feet. This pain was bearable against the pain I was feeling in my heart. I survived.
Once I stood my ground, I started looking for a way to get out of this hellhole. No matter how hard this was gonna be but I know that I have to be a strong girl. I couldn't let myself break again.
I would find a way out of here and I would get back to my family, to my sister, and my father, and once I get there, I swear not gonna think of my days here. I would not dream of being united with my mate whether I had to spend all eternity alone.
'Oh God, I swear I am going to stay back to protect my pack. And didn't dare to try anything stupid like escaping. Just help me find a way back.'
All I could do was praying whoever mighty power was listening to me I was begging them to show me the way to my freedom while looking closely through each item this place had to offer which I could use as a weapon because I wasn't sure if fighting in a wolf form against an army of vampires stands me a chance of survival.
I had no plan in my mind but I was sure that I was going back home. I promised myself that.
Suddenly I heard the noise of doors opening…
