Chapter 14 - Perfect Gentleman

"Does the idea of me coming out part witch and part vampire excite you, mate?"

My body froze.

Goosebumps raised on my skin.

He was so close. So close that I could feel his hot breath tickling the side of my neck.

So close that the softness of his lips could be felt over my skin. He gave my earlobe a gentle kiss before letting his hot tongue come out to lick the path along my neck.

I bit inside my cheek determined not to let my moans escape. It felt so good. His tongue. The warmth seeped through his body. It felt like my whole body was on fire and I couldn't help but feel helpless against the power he had over me.

No…no ..no it's not him. Not at all. I know better than to be tricked by the bond. That's right. It's mate bond, not him.

He seemed to take my silence as an assurance to continue. He kept assaulting my ear to my neck as his strong arms pulled me further into the heat of his body plastered to mine. For being a vampire his body was extremely hot.

Time seemed to stop.

I thought he wouldn't stop until I pushed him away. My thanks to whoever angel he stopped when a piercing sound forced us apart.

With the speed of light, he was by the door where pieces of glass were scattered on the floor. He bent down to pick a piece and surveyed it with a hard face before he turned to face me. He got back to his feet and said, "Wind is harsh today, you should get back to your room. You are not wearing anything warmer."

As on cue, a cold gust of wind hit me. Window curtains flickered wildly as the sound of a storm raging could be heard.

I strolled towards it. There was a window that gave the views of the forest and ocean beneath, also big enough to use as an escape route.

Peeking outside, the sky was covered with dark gloomy clouds and wind howling at full intensity threatening the hold of the tree on the soil.

I closed my eyes and a smile stretched on my lips. A cold breeze continued to hit my face. I felt alive for the first time since I arrived here. Due to my werewolf genes, my body was more adaptable to the climate than a mundane one,

However, I had to agree with the King that my choice of clothes was not aligned with the drastic change in the climate. I was wearing a yellow sundress with pink flower prints. It reached my knees. That was the most comfortable and safe option I got from the wardrobe I have given here. No complaints 'cause I never heard of a kidnapping victim getting such luxury. I should be grateful for not being dumped into a dark corner of a smelly dungeon, getting unhygienic food to eat, and wearing dirty clothes.

Believe me, it hurt my ego to admit it but this place was better than my instant jail and I didn't want to go back to that boring room so soon.

I'm not naive enough to get any ideas that I didn't have to go there at all. However, I didn't want to sound eager to spend more time with him also. And I doubted he would leave me alone here.

"Are you not considering jumping right?" A shiver ran down my spine when I heard the Vampire King whisper such words in my ear with a bit of a teasing tone.

I snapped open my eyes and turned to find him just a breath away from me. I gulped. What happened to my senses, I didn't notice him moving at all.

"If I were you I wouldn't dare to think of wandering alone in the woods." He continued against my lips.

Okay setting aside sexual tension for once my brain decides to focus on the important piece of information.

I arched my brow. I propped him to continue, "What could scare the great Vampire King?"

He let out a chuckle looking at me in somewhat a new light. Or I was imagining that part.

He took a step back all the while looking into my eyes as if reading my mind. What's with this staring!?

He fixed the loose hair behind my ear before answering,

"This island was created by my mother back in the times and believe me when I say she loved being creative with her work. You never know what jumped ahead of you out there and I doubt a smart girl like you would go for it. Right?"

Consider it my lucky day. I was saved by a sudden knock on the door. We both turned to see the double doors parted before an old lady in the same outfit as Nancy entered the room carrying the trolley filled with food.

Kill me! It was embarrassing when the aroma of pancakes and freshly baked bagels tickled my nostrils and in response, my stomach grumbled.

The downfall of living with vampires? They picked even the slightest noise loud and clear.

Color of embarrassment grazed my face when two pairs of eyes instantly turned in my direction.

Believe me, at that moment I would have happily jumped into hell if the floor creaked open.

The old lady smiled at me knowingly and proceeded to set breakfast under the musical tree where a small table and two chairs were already set which I failed to notice earlier.

Pure gentleman move, Vampire King offered his hand which I once again accepted without breaking a sweat. It raised the suspension of my intentions. Kidding, I knew what I was doing right? Damn right.

"Shall we?" He asked with that charming smile that I bet could make any girl fall on her knees and worship this creature. Too bad I was not one of them.

He pulled the chair for me before sitting in front of me. The old maid was about to serve the food but he dismissed her and said he would call for her if needed.

She bowed her head and left without a word, shut the door behind her, leaving the two of us alone in the garden once again.

I won't lie to say it was not awkward however I did my best to ignore the silence and focused on the food. I set myself some pancakes and bagels before reaching out for the coffee but he beat me to it. Vampire King, trying to be sweet, poured me coffee and I let him as I was busy checking his profile.

I knew it was forbidden to even think of but what would it be if we met under different circumstances? Maybe he would not be the worst option for considering a mate…
