'Thump..'
'Thump..'
My heart was banging vigorously inside my chest matching the rhythm of the loud footsteps approaching me. My breath came shorter from all the running. I clutched at the nearest thing my hands could reach for - a tree trunk. It took me a moment to catch my breath.
"Look there! She must be somewhere near! She won't go far in her condition." Men shouted. From their voices, I could reckon that they were near.
"I have to find a place to hide." I clutched my stomach, groaning. Blood kept oozing out of my wound. I didn't let it stop me though, slowly, but I dragged my body as far as I could.
Until a growl erupted from somewhere in the dark. A heavy body tackled me down to the ground from behind. My head hit the rock beneath and I cried in pain before darkness took over my sight.

Sometimes life pushes you into a deep place where you couldn't help but regret not being careful while making wishes.
Yes, that was exactly my thoughts when my eyes collided with a pair of cold ones. A person who possessed a part of my soul, my other half but I wasn't sure if he had a soul of his own.
My life turned into a hurricane in such a short period of time.
A month ago, while running away from my marriage and pack, I never thought I might be making the biggest mistake of my life, which couldn't be reversed no matter how much I begged the moon. She didn't answer my prayers.
I stirred as my ears picked up faint clatters as soon as I regained consciousness. I snapped open my eyes to detect the source, however, my eyelids were too heavy to stay still. The feeling of being hit by a truck would be an understatement for what I felt, though I shake it off enough to focus on the situation at hand only to find that I was on a ship with a bunch of vampires who kidnapped me, and took me god knows where!?

As soon as we hit the shore, my captors blocked my sight. They blindfolded me before dragging me on a dirt road.
Now that my eyes were closed my other senses were on alert.
I picked up some curious voices of the by-passer and the awful smell of burnt flesh hit my nostrils hard enough to make me want to throw my guts out. Good thing I didn't eat anything within the last 24 hours.
At this moment I was amazed that I should be happy, or worried that we got some company here?
I wondered if my captors were dumb enough to have taken all the risk to ship me to some human-populated island, However, I highly doubt that there were any living beings on this land because as far as my nose staked claimed this island was filled with disgustingly smelled walking talking corpses.
Which left no doubt that this place was their base camp. Was I supposed to be scared? Of course, I should.
I had no clue why they kidnapped me and took me to their base out of all the places in the world!
'Goddess, what had I done wrong to end up in a vampire's den?'
As we made it further deep, chaos followed. Noises increased, and so did the beats of my heart. My feet were hurting from all the walking and I wanted nothing more than to have a hot bath, meatballs, and a comfortable mattress to sleep on for days. However, my captors didn't share my thoughts as they kept pushing me, not letting my feet rest.
'Maybe I don't need these things anymore? Who knows, if I will walk out of this alive, or not?'
I couldn't help these dramatic thoughts kept nagging my brain and I hated it, I hate feeling so helpless at the moment. I hated being a victim. I hated myself for being weak. An Alpha could be anything but the victim and weak.
It was unacceptable, it was a disgrace to my bloodline. And if these were going to be the last moments of my life, I was rather disappointed in myself.
I pulled in a sharp breath as suddenly everything went silent, pin-drop silence. Before being replaced the sound of footsteps boomed throughout the entire place. It belonged to one person only, I could tell by hearing and it stopped at a short distance.
The domineering aura pickled my skin, causing goosebumps to raise. I couldn't help but wonder who it could be.
The Goddess seemed to finally hear me.
The piece of cloth falls off my eyes. My captor allowed me to witness my downfall. Should I be thankful for it? Never mind.
My vision turned blurry. I used the back of my hands to rub my eyes before staring at my surroundings. The sight was anything I could ever imagine. The large glass windows, cream ceilings, and walls of the gigantic hall were painted in gold and cream. And there gathered the sea of red-eyed monsters, hungrily glaring at me with their mouths slightly ajar, providing a perfect view of their razor-sharp fangs.
It rather made my blood boil. Death might be knocking on the door, but it didn't stop me from glaring back with similar bitterness. For god's sake, I belonged to a higher position in the pack hierarchy. I didn't learn to be a coward under the enemy's gazes. Though if enemies were the thousands of red-eyed bloodsuckers, maybe it felt like a stupid move, but I dared to challenge them, eye to eye.
Brown to red. They might have killed me on the spot, but I prefer to die with my dignity.
I growled when vampires flashed their fangs at me, warningly. It wasn't a voluntary action, but a most needed one. Nobody was ready to back out. Great.
"Stop!" A hilarious voice boomed through the empty walls of the hall which had the audacity to force vampires to retreat from their position and make my heart skip a beat.
I turned on my heels to find the source. I narrowed my gaze at the high and mighty presence sitting on the higher ground. The black rock throne was illuminated under the moonlight, escaping through a glass window, giving the man an ecstatic outline.
Slowly my eyes moved upward to take in the person's personality who, if I wasn't mistaken, was the famous vampire Lord I heard so much about.
My breath turned shallow, and so did the time seem to trail down to a lower octave. My eyes took in each nook and crook of the sight in front of me.
The way his one leg crossed over the other's knee and his one hand was proudly patting the arm of the throne whilst the other was guided to his chin where he scratched it lightly as if lost in deep thoughts. Confused.
If we talk about clothes, he was wearing a white silk shirt and black leather pants, to add the touch of superiority a royal blue cloak with white furry material at the edges attached to his shoulders. A crown was proudly sitting over his head.
His aura was intimidating, strong, and overwhelming, making it hard to breathe in the same room as him. To say he was handsome was an understatement. It would not be wrong of me to describe him as God-blessed.
His skin might be pale considering the fact that he was a vampire, but he was blessed with sharp facial features, a high cheekbone, a straight nose, thin lips, and hard-to-miss those beautiful eyes and long lashes creating shadows on his cheeks.
I swear I have never seen eyes so blue and cold as icebergs.
Just one look in his cold eyes and my body and soul froze. That overwhelming feeling, I couldn't understand them well but didn't miss the tingling sensation going through my entire body as my soul sang a song that calmed my senses at the same time making me want to run to the hills.
Words were stuck on the tip of my tongue. I feared letting them loose. My wolf howled in happiness and screamed the word, loud and clear for it to go unnoticed. 'Mate!'
Several gasps sounded around me. The hanging jaws of the audience made me realize that I just said the words out loud.
Fierce expressions turned into pure horror.
Air was knocked out of my lungs as my stupid ass was crushed down to earth. Reality punched in my guts like a bitch.
'No-no, this can't be! How could it be? He is a vampire, for god's sake! A vampire and a werewolf couldn't see eye to eye. How come you matched them together, goddess!?'
Words kept flowing in my mind like water from a broken dam. Nothing was making sense. How could this be possible? I was half expecting to wake up from this horrible nightmare. Only that never happened.
Like a scared child, I shook my head and blinked twice before running a double-check. And guess what? I was dumbfounded to find that nothing changed except the expression on the man's face.
His expression goes from confused to angry with the speed of light. His jaw was shut tight while the fire burned in his blue orbs, threatening to burn the world to the ground.
'Great, he doesn't want me either. Good to know. The feeling is quite mutual, mate.' I placed a palm over my heart and puffed. The situation was not irreversible.
Oh, and surprisingly, my hands were free by now.
As the shock wore off, the surrounding vampires showed their true nature. Guess what? The hatred in their eyes was hell strong, this time. It bubbled up the next minute when all of them made their demands in a union, loud and clear. "Kill her! Kill her! We want her blood! Yes, End her life!"
To say, I wasn't surprised at all. If anything, I was quite expecting it. Oh come on, we were talking about the races who survived centuries and centuries over this earth. Made sure to keep their identity hidden from humans and lived in the shadows. And one thing was for sure it was all possible because of the rules and beliefs we stuck with.
"Silence! It's going to be my decision what to do with her, not yours." Vampire Lord hissed and thumped his fist on the arm of his seat, seething.
Hmmm..... Not like his subjects telling him what to do. It was a pretty common matter for leaders to lose calm over.
"Like hell, we are going to sit here and wait for our race to end. I would do it myself if you don't have a heart! Let's kill her!" It was quick to come up with any defense mechanism. In the blink of an eye, some vampires leaped over me.
Chaos broke down, and the guards who were to keep me in my place turned to my bodyguards, fighting to protect me from the sharp fangs of crazy bloodsuckers who wanted me dead more than anything, didn't care if they were disobeying their king's order and started a civil war.
They outnumbered me. Some of them broke through the guards to reach me. They were quick, or I was slow because of earlier incidents I couldn't tell because my mind stopped working when a body tackled me to the ground and the next thing was a pair of sharp fangs pierced my skin, sucking the life out of my veins...
'That's how I'm going to die?'
