Melrose jumped in front of Reed without thinking that she almost crushed on his chest. She was panicking and nervous! He should not discover about her father and Rosamund!
Reed's eyes squinted darkly. He looked suspicious as if he knew she was hiding something. But Melrose was determined to not let him pass.
"What are you doing, Lady Lewis?" His tone was dark and threatening.
"I am…" Melrose stammered at the intensity of Reed's gaze. She gripped at the side of her robe and thought of an alibi. This was not the time to be embarrassed. "I need to talk to you about something. Can we discuss it in my room?"
"In your room," he echoed and one end of his lips rose, but there was mockery and annoyance in his eyes. "You seriously want a man in your room, Lady Lewis? How indecent. Not to mention, you are not properly dressed."
"But this is-"
