"Are you alright, my lady?" asked Felicity when Melrose went home from the palace with a wary face.

The King's offer was good. But Melrose didn't feel like it was the right thing to do. Would she save herself and abandon her father just like that? And Vincent… she felt something was different with him. He was always fair, someone who would not care about anyone when it came to the laws. Even his relatives years back then were not spared when they committed crime.

How come he was giving Lord Lewis a chance of redemption? Although they were engaged for years, she could not say they had a deep connection and understood each other's perspective without a doubt. Love was out of the picture. So, she could not understand why Vincent was willing to sacrifice his principles for her. He wasn't like that.

"I am fine," said Melrose and sat in front of the window.
