"Why marry a man you don't trust?" Reed tilted his head, scowling as if she could not see what he was pointing out.
"I trust him but-"
"Not entirely?"
Melrose didn't answer. Because the truth was, she was unsure if she even trust someone so much. Felicity, maybe. But not anyone else, not even her father.
"Then why bother to marry him?" He gave her a critical look and she found discomfort in how she was the center of his suffocating attention.
"Because he wants my hand… and we have been engaged for years."
"That's it?" he asked mockingly like her reason was too shallow.
Melrose's brows furrowed. "Are you asking me if I feel affection for him? If I love him?"
