It was one of those agonizing moments Melrose had ever experienced. Like how painful it was to wait for the hours of lecture from her governess. Like how she got nervous over getting caught when Arianne dragged her into doing silly things, or how she tried to do the things her father wanted even though she was against it.
Only that it was not entirely similar to those moments. This time, it felt more than agonizing. It felt like a torture. She didn't know if it was the excruciating pain from her wound, or if it was how intense and dark Reed's look was as he cut her dress.
He was dead serious. His jaw was clenched, his gaze fixated at what he was doing as if he was afraid of making even one wrong move. He looked impatient, angry even.
