Erika announced as she walked out of an electronics shop, "You can teleport now."
Noah trailed behind her with his brand-new phone box in hand, ready to be uncovered at a moment's notice.
Putting the box in his backpack, he followed his mom into an alley where no one would see them.
Noah teleported the two of them straight into Rebecca's bedroom after making sure that no one was watching them.
Their first step was to examine the bodies of the five men from earlier.
"Noah, go downstairs and let them know we're back," Erika instructed. In the meantime, I'll take care of these bodies."
Noah silently walked down the stairs, not wanting to alert Izzy's family about his arrival.
'I feel like a spy doing this.' He sighed.
He had normalized walking silently in his past life, something that had benefited him greatly. Now Noah wondered how helpful the ability would be.
He stopped at the bottom of the stairs as he heard voices coming out of the kitchen situated right beside the stairs.
Izzy's voice was the first that Noah heard. "Why are you trying to make me feel uneasy?"
Her mother scoffed at her question before replying, "Because he had a weird aura of power surrounding him. If not for the fact that we've known them for years, I wouldn't let Noah step closer to my house."
"He is still the same person," Izzy protested. "Unlocking one's powers doesn't change that."
"My dear daughter, it changes everything." Rebecca sighed.
Noah heard this without any form of emotion appearing on his face. He stood on the same spot until he felt Erika's aura travel towards him.
He soon heard her footsteps lightly tapping across the stairs. Only then did he move into the kitchen, a smalls mile suddenly appearing on his face.
"We are back," Noah announced.
Rebecca's demeanor did a one eighty as she stood up and started preparing tea.
Noah didn't care about the sudden shift she had, he was used to it by that time. He wasn't treated as a human by most anyways.
A monster was what the commoners called him. A demon was what the religious liked to use. A shadow was what the nobles called him, someone who lived his life under the light and did all his work from there.
But those he had killed hadn't called him any names. They had simply called him Noah.
After drinking the tea, the atmosphere in the room turned serious. Alec was sent out of the room by Rebecca, which had simply been her asking him to go watch television.
Both of you have a week off before your exams, right?" Rebecca inquired.
"Yeah." Noah and Izzy replied simultaneously.
There final exams were coming near and Noah had burned his books some time ago. Noah was proud of himself for doing that.
"Have you decided what are you going to do in the meantime except studying?" Erika questioned casually as Izzy fell deep in thought.
Noah, on the other hand, already had an answer prepared. "I'm going shopping tomorrow. Wanna join?" he raised an eyebrow at Izzy.
She thought for a split second before replying, "I do need to buy a few things so yeah."
The plan for the next day was settled in such a manner as the house got lively again.
Erika and Rebecca cooked the dinner together and the five of them ate it together. When it was time to sleep, Noah and Erika were given the guest room to share.
Neither of them talked anything as they changed into their comfortable sleeping clothes and crashed down on the bed.
"You take girls on dates in the black market?" Erika inquired a second later.
"Only the special ones." Noah joked as he heard his mother chuckle.
"I guess I should be expecting multiple daughter-in-laws then." She joked back as the two of them stared at the ceiling.
Noah suddenly remembered that he hadn't told his mother about his next day black market adventure. "How did you figure out that I was going to the black market though?"
"I didn't. It was just a guess." Erika replied, leaving Noah slightly baffled.
He had forgotten how treacherous his mother could be at times.
"I was going to tell you about that after I went there but I guess telling it now doesn't make much of a difference." He replied nonchalantly.
It seemed as though the conversation would then die down yet Erika still had one question left. "Noah, can you upgrade your stats or legacy?"
"I can't." He replied in under ten seconds. "I didn't try absorbing the cores thought."
"Then do that." Erika suggested before yawning. "I'm going to sleep."
She turned to her right once and relaxed her body. She was asleep by the time Noah took the mana cores out.
'I didn't check what reward I got after completing that quest though.' He suddenly remembered before summoning his Soul book and flipping to the quest page.
He clicked on the reward section of his previously completed quest and saw words appearing in front of him.
[ As the reward can't be paid, a settlement has been decided upon. Chose any of the following options:
1) Get the supreme 'All-Seeing Eyes'
2) Get the ability to adapt to any environment
3) Do a random gacha pull for a weapon ]
'Already got the all-seeing eyes. I could use them to stare on others but that pointless for me. I can also adapt to any environment. Gacha pull it is.' Noah pressed the third option.
Though he had to admit that getting such rewards as compensations was great on its own. The first two would've been overpowered if Noah already didn't have them.
[ Keep in mind that this is a one time compensation made by the world for failure of awarding the quest completion rewards. Such events may not happen in the future. ]
Noah just shrugged after reading that as he saw the gacha screen appear in front of him.
'I wonder what I will get.' He thought after starting the gacha.
It took a few seconds for the result to come out but once it did, Noah was left shocked.
[ Congratulations on obtaining the sword 'Oathbreaker' from the gacha! ]
Under normal circumstances, Noah would think that the sword he had obtained must be a legendary weapon due its name.
But the circumstances weren't normal and his luck was rotten.
"I got this same piece of sht in my last life…"
