Chapter 22 - Spies and Token

Izzy's head immediately turned in the direction Noah had pointed at. She caught the silhouette of a figure moving an inch behind a telephone pillar.

"How did you figure that out?" Izzy inquired with a slightly open mouth.

"I can teach it to you too. For now, let's just teach her a lesson." Noah raised his right hand in the pillar's direction as the temperature suddenly soared high.

Burning orange flames shot out from his hand and shot straight towards the telephone pillar. The woman rolled to the right as she could tell that the fire would've left her burned.

Noticing her sudden dodge, Noah only smiled and jerked his hand to her new position. The fire obeyed his command and took a slanting right turn.

With contracted pupils, the woman raised her hands in defense. Ice shot out from the palms of her hands and formed an ice wall in front of her.

It seemed as though the ice wall would hold against the fire for a few seconds as the burning flames came crashing on the ice wall.

Noah's smile widened a bit as he retracted the flames a bit, giving the woman false hope that she had survived.

All of it was a facade.

She had let her guard down a bit and had put her complete focus on the fire and Noah. That was why the woman hadn't noticed that Izzy had slipped from her field of vision.

'She has to learn to fight well on her own. As long as Izzy stays with me, she will have plenty of opportunities to fight others.' Noah observed as Izzy raised her right hand and cast her ice magic.

The woman was an ice mage as well and sensed the incoming ice magic. However, she had been distracted by Noah and couldn't do anything against the incoming attack.

Izzy's ice magic wrapped around the woman's legs as well as her arms, rendering her useless. She tried to break free of the ice using her own magic but it was clear that Izzy had the superior magic.

"What are we going to do with her now?" She inquired while stepping right beside Noah.

"A police officer should be arriving here any moment. Let's leave her here and let the police deal with her." Noah shrugged as the two of them turned around and walked away from the frozen woman.

Noah would've killed the woman if they weren't in the public eye. He didn't want to cause another trouble on his second day back.

'One of the others would've recorded that and handed the video to some powerful authority anyways.' Noah thought, his eyes flickering over his surroundings.

Noah slowed down his pace a bit so that he was walking right beside Izzy.

He leaned in towards her right ear and whispered, "Izzy, always be on the lookout. Even a normal person can turn out to be a spy."

He pulled away to see a confused-looking Izzy. It took a few seconds for her to process his words as she gave their surroundings a slightly nervous look.

"You will get us killed one day." She muttered while shooting Noah a murderous gaze.

"You can leave my company you know." He grinned. "Finding new friends won't be too hard for you. Maybe you will even get some young masters to chase after you."

Izzy once again sighed in exasperation yet she didn't say anything to Noah afterward.

Both of them knew that they were being tailed by numerous spies belonging to who knows what organizations.

Any of them could lunge at them at any given moment yet Noah didn't look the least bit worried.

He carelessly walked towards a restaurant situated at the edge of the streets and stopped right in front of it. "We have arrived at our destination."

Izzy eyed the restaurant with interest yet nothing about it stood out to her. It was situated in a place relatively less visited by the people and the entire enterprise was empty.

It was a place one would skip over and even remember for more than a minute.

"I am starting to question your taste," Izzy muttered as the two of them entered the restaurant.

"Trust me, my taste is something that will leave you wanting more of it," Noah winked before whispering, "no one can hear us here so we are safe."

"You could've told me that before." She grumbled.

"Where's the fun in that?" Noah walked up to the guy sitting at the reception and gave him a charming smile. "I want to go to the red light district with you."

Izzy, who was standing right behind him, choked on air.

"Sure handsome." The guy at the reception winked back at him before handing him a sort of token.

It had the number 69 written on it as Noah pocketed the token. He then left the bar with Izzy before retracing his steps towards the way they had come from.

"What was that about?" Izzy questioned a moment later, still feeling slightly shocked from his words earlier.

"That's just the password for entering the red light district. It's the most easiest way to enter the black market and no one will spare us a glance." Noah shrugged before suddenly clutching Izzy's wrist and diving into an alley.

The latter lost her balance and tumbled behind Noah. Having a fair share of experience with a falling woman, Noah swept Izzy up into his arms in less than a second.

He set her down the next second before taking the token out of his pocket.

Izzy stared at him incredulously as though she couldn't believe how smooth his actions had been.

"We will be arriving in this alley after we visit the black market," Noah spoke aloud, not for Izzy but for all the spies tailing them.

It wasn't the most sensible thing to do yet Noah had his reasons for stating it aloud. The spies had to be taken care of, after all.

He flipped the token into the air and caught it in his hands again. A blue light descended upon the duo, shortly followed by the opening of a portal below their feet.

They were sucked downwards by the portal as it automatically closed up, leaving no traces of the duo behind.

"Noah, I swear I will kill you one day!" Izzy shouted as the two of them slid down a steep slide.

"You can do that later on," he smiled. "Enjoy the ride for now!"

The two of them continued to slide downwards until their feet suddenly hit the ground.

They had arrived at the black market or more specifically, the red light district.
