Cadmus Mondragon had many talents.
He'd only ever received perfect scores on science exams, could recite the alphabet backward, and was the youngest kid to represent the school in an international quiz bee tournament. There was no denying that he had an arsenal of impressive skills, but ignoring a certain somebody was not one of them.
Blair Winifred was an eternal mystery.
To be fair, evil forces had been working for three years to make him miserable, and now, he and the rest had reached fourth grade. Give him any other explanation for how she managed to earn a spot in all his classes regardless of being ranked the lowest. Or her seat being always near him, if not next to him, thus breaking the alphabetical system.
And of course, there's the school field trip too.
"Cadmus Mondragon and Blair Winifred," their class adviser called with slight hesitation, almost sounding curious about the random pairing.
