Chapter 7 - The Act- Part 3 The Twist

What have you done Tamara had asked him but he hadn't done anything illegal recently. Ciaran asked her why she asked him. I have just had so many police officers turn up at my flat looking for, there had been so much that I couldn't count them and there was more outside in vehicles, their massive as well they're not messing around. Okay I will sort it, thank you for getting a hold of me.

Ciaran hangs up the phone and then it dawned on him, they might know about Katie. While he knew that the police might have a second witness though they were not willing to attend court as he would have been informed, the one and only witness they do have he was sleeping with and wouldn't be as careful as he should have been. Katie was their only witness, as you can imagine though, her version of events didn't match the event itself, we had tried to keep it as close to the truth but without dropping anyone in it.

It wasn't long since Ciaran was over her flat, the officer in charge of the case was due round to discuss her statement and court, he had only left five minutes before their appointment time. Could it be that he thought to himself as he starts to call the none emergency police line, "I hear you are looking for me" he said to them.

After providing them with his details for them to identify him and once they did Ciaran could hear a peak of urgency in the voice of the female call centre officer, "where are you? We need to talk to you". Ciaran refuses to tell them where he was until the tell him what they want to talk about and just as she said that they don't want to arrest him, he hangs the phone up, he quickly pulls the battery out and the sim.

Though he knew that a phone trace was in the most extreme cases, this had really got to Ciaran, something about this sent shivers up his spine and that isn't used to after talking to the police. He puts his phone, battery and sim card back in his pocket and goes back to work, thankfully he wasn't too distracted for work as very few knew where he worked.

Three am is fast approaching and Ciaran knows he is going to have to call the none emergency line again, this he is not looking forward to but knows he is still the one in control, its them looking for him not the other way around.

Walking out of the staff entrance lighting a cigarette and taking a deep breath in he starts to walk home, Ciaran pulls out of the pieces of his phone and starts puts it back together. It wasn't long before he had got through the automated messages and he was through to a person.

The cocky type of person Ciaran he was toying with the officer on the phone, the words from the officer had not changed much, the only thing she had said really was that they only wanted to talk to him, that they didn't want to arrest him. Ciaran knew that officers would try at nothing to get him to hand himself in, they had got to the point where they knew chasing him was pointless, he was too fast and very few officers could catch him.

"I am right by bridewell, if you tell me what you want to talk to me about and I will be there in less than five" he had said to her, bridewell being the main police station name for Southampton, he had heard the name a far few times because on many occasions they would notify custody of his close arrival.

"Again, Ciaran we don't want to arrest you, we just want to talk to you". Thirty minutes had passed but Ciaran had only managed to get around the corner which should of took five minutes and at this point now he was just stood on the edge of the road.

The back and forth still happening neither side giving up, Ciaran looks right as he could hear a car heading in his direction and as he looks, he could see that the car was in fact a police car. With the lack of light, the officers in the car had yet to see Ciaran and he leaps in to a bush just behind, in one motion from standing to led flat.

The officer on the phone must have heard the rustle of the branches because want was going on, Ciaran tells her that he is in a bush because a police car was driving past, she again tells him that they are not looking for him to arrest him.

Climbing out of the bushes now that the police car has gone, the back and forth started again and Ciaran was close to agreeing to attend the police that was minutes away but before he did, the officer said she was sorry to tell him over the phone.

Ciaran now knew they were not looking for him to arrest him, who is it he said. I'm sorry Ciaran your brother Michael was found hanging in his cell last night. Ciaran screams, anger and pain flood his body, a couple up the road had heard and quickly pick their pace up.

As the tears pour from Ciaran's eyes, he hangs the phone up, not knowing what to do he starts walking. With scenario after scenario running through his mind he though back to his shift and to the voicemail from the reverse charge call line, a snippet of Michaels voice before it had ended.

With the idea of there being foul play involved, Ciaran was able to sting enough brain cells together to call his friend Shaun, he wasn't just the best friend Ciaran had around him at the time, he was also a very good friend to Michael and when he answered the phone and he knew something was up, worried with the fact that he could hear Ciaran crying which was something he had never seen or heard happening, Shaun managed to get Ciaran to tell him where he was.

Ciaran had started walking towards Shaun as he was walking towards him and it wasn't long before he found him, when he did, he just held him and after given him time to find the strength they went back to Shaun's.

Ciaran explains to Shaun what the officers had said, Ciaran had also called Tamara to tell her as well, he had asked her not to tell anyone until he could tell his family in the morning and after he spoke to her Ciaran took a handful of pills to knock him out failing asleep a little after six am.

Waking up a few hours, for a second Ciaran had forgot about what had happened to his brother, it was like a bad dream, a nightmare but it wasn't, it was real and the pain hit him again like he knelt in front of a fast-moving lorry. Before he went to sleep, he had also messaged his older sister telling her that he had something to tell her, to prepared but Ciaran was not prepared for what he was about to see.

As he unlocked his phone, he could see hundreds of missed calls and messages, from so many people, bitch he thought to himself. Ciaran calls his older sister who was already distraught, she asks him to tell her it wasn't true but he couldn't, no matter how much he wanted to, he couldn't.

His older sister was living in Spain and couldn't get over for a couple of days and asked if he was going to their mothers, though it wasn't something Ciaran thought he could face he still had planned to make the train journey up.

Once Ciaran hung the phone up after talking to his sister, he allowed the rage to take a hold. During the call his sister had told him that it was Tamara who had told her, she had also told him that there was a Facebook marmoreal page set up and his thirteen-year-old sister was minutes from finding out through the marmoreal page.

Ciaran makes a call to Tamara going mad, "how dare you? It was not for you to tell my family", shouting down the phone. Tamara tells him that she had told them, she said she did because she thought I wouldn't tell him, but the Facebook marmoreal page set up by her said different, she wanted the sympathy not that she deserved it with the fact that she had been cheating on Michael during most of his sentence.

A knock on Shaun's front door, he goes to answer and he is back instantly another friend follows him in to the room, she kneels beside the sofa Ciaran had been led down on, she expresses her apologies and offers him a line of cocaine as she pulls it out of her pocket.

She racks up four lines, ciaran does the first and then her and Shaun do one each themselves, Ciaran then does the fourth. Ciaran tells them that he has to get ready and catch a train, he asks Shaun for a drink, his other friend tells him that she is going to go and before she does, she hands him the rest of the cocaine.

After quickly getting ready he racks up two more lines, one a lot heavier than the other and after snorting the larger of the two, he heads out the door to the train station, to his mothers, how does he face her, how does he face his brothers and sister.
