"Over there?"
"You dumbass, there's a guard over there!" Kayden whispered as he pulled Kyler from his shirt's collar, dragging him behind a bush.
"Ow! You trying to choke me?!" Kyler smacked Kayden's shoulder, but his brother pressed a hand on his lips to shut him up since a guard passed through.
Both of them signed each other to keep quiet before starting to crawl away from their border.
"Wait wait wait," Kyler spoke once they both were at a safe distance from their border, "Your girl isn't from out pack?"
"Like yours is?" Kayden retorted, causing Kyler to kick his shin.
"That hurts."
"It is supposed to."
"Why are we crawling though?" Kayden's question reminded them the fact that both of them are Alphas of a Werewolf pack. Both of them got back on their two feet, acting as if they weren't crawling around just a second ago.
"Anyway, I'm off—" Before Kyler can take off to the direction he's suppised to go, Kayden interrupted him.
"Aren't you going the wrong way?" Kayden raised one of his eyebrows, not letting go of Kyler's back collar.
"Uh, no?"
"That's the way to Moon Supreme pack, you planning on getting killed or what?"
"Oh shut up, I'll be fine, take care of yourself too!" This time, Kyler didn't wait for anyone and ran into the dense forest, changing into his wolf form to run faster.
As Kyler neared the borders of Moon Supreme pack, his eyes caught a sight of a girl leaning against one of the many trees.
Kyler barked out loud, and the girl immediately threw him a 'shush' sign, not wanting to be caught coming here.
Kyler growled in response before shifting back to a human and walking ahead to stand beside the girl.
"Where's my payment?" She cocked her head to the side, putting her hand forward, expecting some gold coins to be dropped on them, but instead, it was Kyler's face, bearing an innocent smile.
"Here it is," She gave a disgusted glare before tapping his cheeks with her hands and pulling them apart as hard as she could.
"And this is my thank you." She too replicated the smile Kyler had no more.
" 'Ery 'unny." It wasn't long the girl fell into fits of laughter, because to her, it was indeed very funny.
She let go of Kyler's cheek and leaned against the tree instead to stop herself from falling over in between her loud laughs.
"Who's making so much noise now?" The girl bit her lips and put a finger on them, as if saying thag she would not laugh now, but containing herself wasn't so easy.
Was a werewolf's laugh ever this melodious? All Kyler remembers is, his brother's bark like laugh but this girl's wasn't like that. It was sweeter, like honey melting in his ears.
"Okay seriously, stop now, it wasn't that funny!"
"Oh it definitely was!" She wheezed but was able to regain control over herself after a few seconds.
"Okay. Okay. I'm calm now. I won't laugh anymore." It seemed like the girl was telling herself, rather than Kyler who just stood there, admiring the enhanced beauty of the girl just because of a simple smile.
"Finally! You were getting quite annoying," Kyler lied.
The girl rolled her eyes, getting back to her original position. "My payment— and don't you dare put your face, or I will scratch that handsome face of yours."
Kyler wasn't here for chit chat, he had his mind clear before he arrived, give the gold coins and then get back as soon as he can, why is he taking so much time now?
"You think my face is handsome?" His lips turned upwards in a cheeky smile, the girl groaned out of frutration before shoving Kyler to the side.
"If you're gonna waste my time, I'm going back!" But before she could even take a step further, Kyler obstacled her way by slamming a hand against the tree trunk.
"Just one question, and you will have the payment." She rolled her eyes, but she wanted the payment, a question won't hurt anyone.
"Shoot,"
"What's your name?" The girl blinked, looking very offended.
"You don't know my name?"
"Why else would I ask?" Kyler shrugged, not quite catching up with what the girl was on about.
"Our packs are like the worst enemies and you don't know my name?"
"Every pack around is literally trying to kill me, I can't keep a track of so many names."
She scoffed, looking away from his golden eyes, shining in the moonlight. "Eris. Eris Supreme."
Satisfied with the answer, Kyler took a step back, putting a hand in his jean pocket to take out the coins.
"Shit.." He cursed and pulled his hand out to check the other pockets while Eris kept a suspicious stare at his back.
"Uh.. look. This— this definitely wasn't intentional.. but.."
"Oh just say that you're stingy."
"I'm not! What I'm saying is, the coins must've fell down when I changed into a wolf.." His voice gradually became smaller and smaller as the sentence progressed and he realized how stupid it was of him to not to think about this situation beforehand.
"I should've known, Mystic Crescent is pretty stingy when it comes to paying back." Eris spoke with a smug grin on her face.
"Did you just got your revenge?" Kyler caught on pretty quick that the Luna was getting back at him for insulting her pack.
"What if I am?"
"Then we are even, no more insulting each other's pack, got it?"
"Fine with me," Eris shrugged, "But I still need my payback."
Kyler sighed out, "I'll give you tomorrow, I can't do anything right now."
"Tomorrow. If not, be ready to have your face clawed." Before Kyler could even response, Eris turned to her wolf and ran away towards her pack area.
Kyler stood there for a few seconds, unable to believe that he just made a deal with the people he's supposed to stay away from.
But he looks forward to seeing her tomorrow.
