Kyler and Eris kept their promise, and met every night at the same tree, at 9 pm. Sometimes it were the wolves. Sometimes they were human.
But to them, it never really mattered as long as they got to spend time with each other.
"And she ate my pudding!" Kyler listened to Eris ramble on about her stolen pudding while sitting across from her, a lazy smile curled on his lips.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Eris furrowed her eyebrows, taking a break from her unbreakable ramble.
"Like what?" Kyler questioned, squirming around to get more comfortable.
"Like you are gonna eat me or something." Kyler rolled her eyes at the girl, who seemed ready to fight him if he did something.
"I'm not, you were rambling," Kyler shrugged as a blanket of comfortable silence engulfed their surroundings.
The only sound to be heard were the buzzings of the small insects and flowing water from the near-by lake.
"What's your pack like?" Kyler looked at Eris with a small smile.
"People in our pack love each other, they're loyal and powerful, they respect our father as an Alpha, and are now getting ready to serve my brother too,"
"I take it as you're the younger one in your family?"
"Yeah, and you?"
"Well, I'm the oldest, I have a sister, the one I was telling you about,"
Kyler let out a hum, acknowledging the answer given by Eris. To some people, silence might be uncomfortable or even awkwards, but Kyler enjoys it.
He prefers and peace and quiet rather than continous chatter. Just the feeling of having someone by his side is enough for him.
"You're awfully quiet, you know?" Eris stated, making Kyler scoff out a laugh.
"Tell me something no one has ever told me before,"
"You're cute." Kyler's eyes shot up in surprise, a light amount of blush settling on his cheeks.
"What?" Eris wondered, "Don't tell no one actually told you that before?!" Eris was left in disbelieve, the first time she saw Kyler, she was sure that he must receive numerous types of compliments wherever he went.
"Well.. I—.. I did got some compliments.. but, No one really told me I was ..cute. Most of them were good looking and stuff.." Kyler explained in a small voice, he was never used to such compliments.
"Wow, I'm shocked. I actually thought you must've heard this several times before.." Eris shook her head, still being unable to overcome her shock.
Kyler laughed at the girl's face, "Nope, you're the only one,"
"Have you ever wondered what will happen in future?" Eris asked after a while of silence, making Kyler let out a confused noise.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean like, we've been meeting here for almost a month now, what will happen if someone found out..?"
Kyler did thought about it, he even tried to ask his mother, indirectly, but didn't really got the answer he was hoping for.
"I.. don't know," He didn't liked the uncertainity in his voice at all. "Maybe they'll forbide us from meeting, put up more security or some shit."
Eris smiled sadly, plucking a few pieces of the grass. "You seem so unfazed by the consequences that might occur,"
"I'm not unfazed, but I don't wanna ruin this moment with you to worry about something that might not even happen."
"You're right, that might not even happen," Eris returned Kyler's hopeful smile. "I'm sorry, I tend to worry too much about small things.."
Kyler shook his head, leaning towards Eris, "There's no need to apologize, who else will you share your worries with? I don't mind hearing them, especially if they involve me— I don't mean that I won't hear your worries that don't involve me, I still will!— it's just that I would especially like to hear the ones that revolve around me or—"
Eris leaned forward and touched Kyler's babbling lips with hers, "Who's rambling now?" Eris laughed, but Kyler was left frozen in shock due to the sudden contact with her.
"I—.."
"I know I shouldn't have done that without your permission, but you looked so cute while rambling, it was impossible to control myself." Eris looked away after explaining, not really understanding whether Kyler's happy, mad, disgusted or neutral. He wasn't even moving.
"I'm sorry.." Eris started, but before she could get another word out, Kyler turned her face towards himself slowly, before connecting their lips once again, for a much longer time than a second.
Lips moving in sync, movements laced with passion and yearning they felt for so long. The hesitation in them being thrown away, it was clear both of them wanted it.
Their lips stopped moving, instead taking in the much needed oxygen they lost during time their lips were tangled in each others, but they stayed the way they were, not even moving away to breathe properly or opening their eyes.
Afraid that it'll turn out to be a dream, and opening their eyes would throw them into the harsh reality.
As Kyler slowly opened his eyes, he was met with Eris' grey eyes, they looked brighter than ever, he couldn't believe that something this beautiful can exist.
"You have pretty eyes," Kyler whispered, not daring to look away.
"So do you," Eris whispered back, she was getting drawn into Kyler's golden eyes, unable to stop herself from staring.
Finally, after a few more minutes, they pulled away, light blush tinting their cheeks.
"It— it's getting late.." Eris spoke, getting up from the ground.
"It is.." Though Kyler agreed, he made no effort to stand up.
"What're you doing? get up, Kyler, you should go back, you aren't even supposed to be out of the house," Kyler looked up at Eris' concerned face with a loose smile before getting up with a small groan.
"Well, if you say so,"
Eris smiled sadly, she wished they didn't had to part ways like this everyday, "Tomorrow too," She said and got on her tip toes to plant a small kiss on Kyler's cheek before shifting into her wolf and running away towards her house.
With a satisfied smile, Kyler too made his way back home.
