Chapter 2 - Angel... Or Devil?

POV CHANGES (PATRICIA ESTHER)

A few minutes back,

"Ugh, what is this place, all Viney and filled with slithering creatures." I monologuize while I was trying to follow that boy who was talking to the air for no apparent reason. He seemed like he was hallucinating or suffering from some other mental illness, who knows what the hell he was seeing. It was so difficult to maintain a steady following speed while staying unnoticed. Finally, after a while, I noticed the boy enter a small hut, I had decided to stay out and hide in a bush until he got out.

Suddenly, loud bangs could be heard on the door, I was perplexed by this and didn't know what to do since I thought the boy was imagining something again. However, the door soon opened up revealing him and an old man. The boy tripped due to the knife and the old man was definitely going to kill him. I realized at that moment, that I shouldn't just sit back anymore. I pointed my pistol directly at the blabbering old man's shoulder. Just as he began to plunge the knife into the boy, I subconsciously fired a deafening bullet. It landed precisely on the old man's right arm making a slightly satisfying sound of the bullet ripping off the skin and flesh. The old man retreated behind but the craze overwhelmed me. I shot 5 more bullets pointed at each of his organs.

The boy lost a lot of blood by this time, I doubted if he was even alive but his heart was still trying its level best to pump around the small amount of blood. Still, I dragged him back to the school infirmary controlling my constant urge to take him directly to the graveyard.

"At least my sin for taking the old haggard's life will be justified if I manage to save him."

I landed him at the infirmary and as I began to leave, the nurse quizzically said "What is his name? What happened to him? Where did this happen? I have a lot of questions so wait up girl."

I was neither in the mood to answer nor felt that it would be right to reveal such confidential information, even though I wasn't completely sure of what happened.

"I don't know anything, his name's probably written on his id, I found him half dead while walking around the woods. Now, I hope you excuse my leave." I asseverated. The nurse was shut by my unfriendly tone and let me go.

When I got out, I remembered how messed up my life is and began to loathe myself again while heading towards the room for the first day of class.

POV CHANGES (FRANK)

Suddenly, I woke up in a completely hazy world. Everything was shifting weirdly and my reality seemed nothing more than a series of hallucinations. "Oh, is this heaven?"

However, my distorted reality was broken down by an injection of a large volume of blood. It didn't hurt, I was used to it but it felt a bit sad to realize that I have to live through this world again.

"Why am I still alive?" I asked the nurse

"Some new girl left you here, you're probably mentally ill, I think you need a therapist."

"Oh shut up already, I'm absolutely fine, when's my class?"

"You get a day off fo-"

I jumped out of the bed and headed to class, I had barely any power left in me but I didn't want to miss the first class since this is where they divided students into different sections or so I heard.

"What is wrong with the students of this year. A boy with a super inflated ego, that weirdo girl, and this workaholic boy." The nurse sighed.

I was obviously late, most of the first years had already been assigned to their respective rooms. However, there were still some people left. One that caught my eye was a boy with dark brown silky and wavy hair along with dark red eyes. He sat on the chair as if it was his throne and he was the king of this class, then he spoke up in a quite charming voice "So, might I be given the knowledge about my exquisite classroom?". "John Stewart, 1-B" The announcer, baffled, replied. He walked away as well.

"Frank Esophen, 1-A"

I raised my hand and went to 1-A. I sat on the bench closest to the windows since I knew I'd spend half my time observing the magnificence of nature.

Just as I was about to get lost in the neverending sea of daydreams, a girl called out my name. I looked back and she said, "Meet me after this class, I have some questions." I agreed as I thought that this might be the person that brought me back into this pathetic world.

A very normal but quite exclusive class passed, and I realized how great elite schools are. I went to the alleyway beside the halls and saw her sitting all alone.

"Hey, uh, what's your name again?"

"Patricia, Patricia Esther, you're Frank, right? I saw it in your ID"

"Yeah, so let me be direct here, why did you save me?"

"I want to know what leads you to that hut"

"You were following me?"

"I was, I mean well, who wouldn't find someone talking to the skies interesting"

"Oh, I wasn't really talking to the sky, it was a, how do I explain it, a soul, the soul of the old man living in the huts called Seith. Speaking of Seith, where is he now?"

"He was uh- uhh-"

I gave a quizzical look at her.

"Okay fine, listen, this is very confidential information but I trust you with it so, basically I have a full-on working pistol, and I killed him with it, you're talking to a serial killer right now."

I was slightly shocked but I was anticipating something like this as well,

"Oh, is that how it is, well good job."

"What? Aren't you scared? Not even one bit?"

"Nope, I have witnessed a lot of murders myself, add to that my suicidal intents."

The evening passed like that and eventually, the shade of the night began to spread all over the already foggy school area. The dorms were open all night so we still didn't go as we were so indulged in talking about our past that we lost track of the passage of time. I realized that Patricia was just like me, we had almost similar backgrounds, similar goals, and similar struggles except for the fact that she actually had murder experience unlike me who had always been an observer. There were both wholesome moments where we hugged each other and cried about our pasts and moments of crazy realizations about each other. Both of us were somewhat mentally ill but didn't want to get checked up due to the costs.

Dawn began to break soon, I looked at my watch, let out a burst of silly laughter, and said

"Don't we have classes today?"

"Yeah we do, I don't mind though, I'm confident I'll be able to do it with a few sips of coffee from the canteen."

"Absolutely."

It was fun to get to know her, she was just so perfect and charismatic. I never was able to share my dark side with anyone else, and the one time I shared it, they left me forever, but she accepted it so easily.

A few days later, we became quite close friends, and then suddenly, Patricia said,

"Hey, want to murder someone?"

A moment of silence prevailed.

"Murder?"

I expressed inexplicableness and looked away to think but to my surprise, I noticed something that caused my heart to skip a beat. I caught a glimpse of the dark scarlet eyes of someone surveilling us, I immediately recognized that elegant face, it was none other than John Stewart from 1-B, the one, and only egotistic bastard.
