Chapter 1 - In Love With A Shifter

Chapter One

Raelynn's POV

First Day Of Senior Year

I woke up to the voice of my mom, which is loud by the way, scolding someone. I wonder, who's the unfortunate soul.

I checked my alarm clock to see it was fifteen minutes after seven, realizing I've got only forty five minutes to get ready for school. Damn that's not enough time, I muttered as I scrambled out of bed, not wasting a sec, and dashed into my bathroom, with a speed I'm sure rivaled flash.

My bathroom wasn't anything fancy, but not cheap either. I guess somewhere in between. The walls were a combination of lilac and pink, it has a square shaped bathtub that can fit in at most three people, above the small vanity is a sunburst shaped mirror made of wood. On the floor is a hand woven towel basket, and the floor is covered in a black subway tile. Over the vanity is a pink farm house pendant light, by the left side of the vanity is a few shelves where I keep my unused bathing products.

By the entrance is a poster of my favorite kpop boy band, BTS. On the wall to the left is a vintage medicine chest that is very shabby chic.

I hurriedly took off my bathrobe and had my bath, after that I brushed my teeth not sparing time to wash my hair, I left the bathroom butt naked.

I didn't waste anymore time, as I put on anything I got my hands on, I fingered my hair and tied it in a ponytail with an elastic hairband.

I didn't look in the mirror to check my outfit, instead I picked up my backpack and put in everything I'd be needing for the day, and slung it on my left shoulder, then bent down to pick my headphone, that's on my bed and headed downstairs.

I checked my wrist watch to see I'd spent fifteen minutes preparing for school, damn! I have only thirty minutes left. The ride from my house to school takes twenty minutes, not including the few stops I'd have to make. Like the coffee shop and.... what other place, hmmm..... Can't remember, whatever I'd remember on my way to school. At least if I don't waste anymore of my time, I should be in school before the first bell rings. I hurriedly went downstairs and went straight into the kitchen to get my car key from where I hung it, so I won't lose it, as I'm a teensy bit careless. On entering the kitchen, I spotted my younger brother and sister carrying their breakfast that's on the kitchen island to the dinning table, ignoring them, I went for my keys. I noticed Jax wasn't at the dinning table, I guess that explains why Mom was yelling earlier, Jax hadn't woken up yet and will be late to school, again. But, something tells me I might be wrong, and that the two-wrongly-dressed little monsters, that are seated at the dinning table, looking cute and innocent, which they're not, might have a lot to do with why Mom was yelling at the top of her voice, loud enough to wake the entire neighborhood.

"Hey! Big sis" Ari called me. With a mischievous look in her eyes, and if the fake smile plastered on her face is anything to go by, there's something up her sleeve, and it's nothing good.

I think I know where this is leading to, so before she could open that her little-big mouth, and spill whatever shit she wants to, I dashed for the door, just in time to hear her call my mom, asking her if I won't wait to eat breakfast with them, complaining about me never sparing a minute to eat with them, regardless of whatever time it is.

I felt bad, but knowing Ari, it might just as well be one of her tactics to manipulate me into staying for a while and end up being late for school, cause she's always late to school and hates the fact that I'm always punctual, i swear that girl acts and thinks above her age

But i also know that most times she says something like this she means it, but instead of admitting her true feelings, acts like a bitch, she hates putting her feelings on display. Like I said, too mature for her age

Once I got out of the house i skipped to my truck, with my car key dangling off my pinky finger. I hopped into my car and inserted the key in the ignition at the same time I placed my backpack in the backseat

I was fastening my seatbelt, you know for my safety, when I lifted my head to see my mom standing, with folded arms, a frown etched on her face at the doorway

'Ah hell!" I huffed. Earning me a glare from my mom. At this rate I'd be late to school and that'll be all thanks to the missy-monster standing between mason, the second to the last child of my family, and my mom

'won't you eat breakfast before heading to school', my mom asked me. The frown deepening on her face

Now, peeps although we're all clearly aware of the fact I never eat breakfast except for the coffee I'll buy on my way to school,my stomach will be totally empty till lunch time, my mom still asks me this question every flipping morning she gets to see me before I leave for work or school and it's same at night. I sighed, before whispering a no... 'mom, look I'm sorry, but I'm gonna be late for school, I'm sorry maybe some other time'. I told her, giving her my best pleading look.

'Yeah, same old excuse, sister dearest'. Ari quipped, pausing to give me a bored look, before going back to inspecting her nails for the millionth time.

'You really should give a better excuse, not give the same excuse used every freaking time'. Interjected Mason.

'okay then', was my mom's response, with a pained look on her face. I felt bad but not enough to wait and eat breakfast with them. Ahh! this sucks, like my lil' sis undies.yup,it sucks a big-lot. Gosh that girl never wash them but will instead get disposable ones which she leaves to be disposed on her behalf, else it's just gonna be there, on the carpeted floor of her room.

'Thanks mum, you're the best' I hollered from the driveway. Yeah she truly is and I'm the worst, and nothing's gonna change that, it's the way I am. I started the car, ready to depart. Yuck! why did that sound like it rhymed.

' Aren't you gonna bid us goodbye, Rae? My sister questioned , her words laced with thick emotion. I felt even worse than before, but as much as I love my family, I can't be with them. I know I ought to spend time with them, go out and hang out with them, but I couldn't bring myself to and they don't understand why, which makes me feel like crap. Damn! is my freaking period near? why all this emotion? I'm never emotional, mood swings? Hell yeah, but I'm never one for emotions and right now they're driving me nuts. Damn my family for making me feel this way. I know it makes me seem bad , but it's who I am, and there's nothing wrong with being bad. I've never cared about how people see me or what they think of me.

'I... I stopped, to clear the lump that has lodged itself in my throat. 'Goodbye, little monsters'. I shouted, waving at them with too much enthusiasm, earning a glare from my mom for calling her sweethearts monsters. Raelynn! My mom yelled. And ladies and not-so gentle-men that was my que to leave, and did I leave? Man I definitely did. I sped outta there, like the hellhounds were on my ass. Besides that's what I'm good at, leaving people behind, saying goodbye.... It's becoming my specialty.
